One project a day- 2nd thread!

Welcome to everyone, old hats, lurkers and newbies.

This is a thread where we try and achieve something, no matter how small, a day.

This was the preamble to the previous thread ;

''......many years ago when i was first on MN I started (or maybe just actively participated in, cannot quite recall) a one (house) project a day. It made the most profound difference to my home. The project could be time consuming or not. It could take seconds, minutes or hours. I recall things like changing the lightbulb and lampshade in a hallway table lamp for example as a single day project. One day i also threw away holey and raggedy cushion covers and bought news ones. Little things, that really mattered.

If anyone is interested I wish to start another thread.

Today, as my one project a day, I cleared out my dehydrated and weed-ridden window boxes (2 of them). I put new compost in them and planted them with lobelia (obviously!); red geraniums and some dianthus. I am happy looking out (and in!) my front windows now. :) ''

everyone welcome!

I fell off my own thread!

I was up by 5 this morning and the main job was to clean the bathroom of the remains of a dead mouse (thanks DCat2 Hmm ) She wears a bell for crying out loud, but is still a hunter.

Then I de-headed the roses before work.

Hope everyone is well. Thanks

DH and I have measured and cut all the skirting boards this evening. Some parts are glued and in place now and the rest are in position ready to be glued and screwed tomorrow evening.
Then I can deep clean all the surfaces and sand round the odd window bits ready to start painting the woodwork over the weekend.
As soon as the window frame and sill have been painted, I can rewatch and rehang the curtain in there.
Then we need to varnish the table legs and get the table back up and redress the room.
The smell in the house of dog wee has gone so far!

DownUdderer · 24/06/2021 03:54

I've done hoovering, swept, mopped, scrubbed doorframes.

Tomorrow it'll be more of the same. Plaster dust gets everywhere!

This afternoon I've got garden jobs to get on top of.

Fnib · 24/06/2021 07:23

Pleased you feel rested @Peridot1. We're conditioned to feel guilt if we're not on it all the time, but rest and recovery time are important Flowers

It's quite the responsibility being the custodian of a thread @BlueLobelia I've found. Have done the odd one under different names over the years. I always feel I need to comment on everyone's posts and the it gets wearying and I feel bad for missing people out and just run out of steam.

I also have a hunting cat. I keep her in at dusk, overnight and as long as I can first thing but it's all a mitigation process isn't it? She gets safely collars off and I won't put her in anything else. I think she's less successful now she's older and a bit arthritic.

I did precisely 15 mins deadheading and weeding yesterday (its a flylady thing) Hoovered, on load of laundry washed , dried, ironed and away. And a couple of small writing/editing projects I'd been asked to do.

Have a great day everyone 😀

Peridot1 · 24/06/2021 07:55

Morning all.

@Fnib - I think I might revisit Flylady. .I used to get the emails years ago. 15 minutes of weeding would be just enough for me and would gradually make a difference. I will add that to my list for today and weed the pots at the front of the house and the lavender beds.

I didn’t do my clothes yesterday. Again. We had plumbers and the tiler here most of the day so it was easier to stay out of their way. Good news is that the main bathroom is finished. (We added a big walk in shower.) The downstairs cloakroom just needs painting and a mirror. (Completely redid the whole room.) And my en-suite will be finished when and if we get the grouting. (Just added a strip of the tiles outside the shower as the wall and skirting was getting splashed.). Tiler forgot he needed a specific colour and we couldn’t get it yesterday. It’s literally 30 minutes work left for him to finish.

All of the big dirty jobs are mainly finished now. Except for painting some rooms.

Cleaners are in today so I will basically be doing a general tidy around before they get here. My 15 minute weeding. And either my clothes or DS’s room. Also have some bags to take to clothes recycling. I should sort through those properly though. DS just chucked all sorts in. Some brand new. Some tatty. The new and good condition stuff can go to a charity shop.

mamakoukla · 24/06/2021 12:13

Well, I have been trying to reduce screen time and found I have missed this thread! Today’s mini project is to sort out end of school year cards etc.

BlueLobelia · 24/06/2021 12:19

Morning all. :)

Thanks @Fnib Thanks The days seem to be getting away from me!

this morning I managed to clear out the freezer in the garage of ancient frozen things I have ignored. More room for some batch cooking which I am pleased about. :)

Three bags of dyed fleece spun into balls, and one pair of trousers made for the school end of year play.
I wish I could make them nicer for the young lady I'm making them for - they're made out of a rather horrible Crimplene fabric and sewing it makes my teeth itch - but there it is, I am just grateful that they're planning for there to be an end of year play.

Mogloveseggs · 24/06/2021 19:10

Evening
Well this week I've managed to get my mojo back a bit and keep on top of the general housework before work with the teen pitching in a bit as she's left school now. Just to tackle the evening washing up-Dh used to do it but he's stopped so I'll have to have a word as I cook.
So tonight's job is to sort the bookcase when I get home from first aid. I'm not in work tomorrow so can do it tonight and any books that can go I'll take tomorrow.

Sparklynewname · 24/06/2021 22:32

Skirting board has been attached 😊

SingToTheSky · 24/06/2021 23:41

So much productivity on this thread! 🤩

Project Cupboard of Doom is going well, if a bit slowly - finally organised and packed up the decluttered Christmas supplies today, and that is now neatly shelved on top along with the wrapping box and the painting sheets.

DownUdderer · 25/06/2021 05:08

I've hoovered, swept and mopped. I just have a couple of bedrooms to hoover and that'll be the whole house clean again after plaster dust getting everywhere.

I'm starting to think about sorting out our garage, it's become a jumbled mess in there.

S0upertrooper · 25/06/2021 05:34

Hi I've just found the thread and I so need this!

Today I'm working on edging a rug, scrubbing down a garden chair and if I can be arse, clearing out my knicker drawer.

I'll be delighted if I finish one of these!

Peridot1 · 25/06/2021 09:27

Morning all.

Yet again I didn’t manage anything on my list!

I did tidy around, stripped my bed, did two loads of washing, cleaned the new vanity units in the main bathroom and downstairs cloakroom and put things back into both rooms. Have ordered a couple of pictures to go up in the main bathroom.

Today I will do more in DS’s room. And sort the bags of his clothes. He ordered lots of new stuff which has arrived and was dumped in the living room. I’ve sorted through that and it can all get put away.

I need to go to the supermarket too. And we have new garden furniture being delivered today.

CharityDingle · 25/06/2021 09:58

Two simple projects today.
Clean the shower doors and clean out the fridge.

Will do other everyday bits too but at the end of today I want to be able to say those two are done.

BlueLobelia · 25/06/2021 13:51

Normalish day today. I need to sort out the guest bedroom which is really more of a dumping ground.

Mogloveseggs · 25/06/2021 16:40

Two bookcases done. Books ready to take to work (we have a charity bookcase at work). Going to water the plants now then I don't need to do it later.

mamakoukla · 25/06/2021 19:55

I am permitted to book my second vaccine dose. Was waiting for the electronic token as meant to arrive this week but decided to call it in as we have not always received the tokens. Appointment booked!

mamakoukla · 26/06/2021 15:35

Fridge cleaning in progress, laundry done, and will start work on revisions on a returned manuscript. It’s based on work done a few years back. Keep inching it closer to getting it out of the door (fingers crossed!)

CharityDingle · 26/06/2021 16:14

Got yesterday's projects done, small in themselves but satisfying to complete.

Mogloveseggs · 26/06/2021 17:57

All washing done
Kids beds washed
Sorted some old plant pots for the recycling and some larger tubs to go to the tip tomorrow
Cooked the meatballs for tomorrow's tea
Cleared out the fridge
Tidied out the tins cupboard
Just about to go through the freezer and see what's in there before I do the shopping list

Fnib · 26/06/2021 18:58

Hello everyone! I've spent time with my mum today, so only routine tasks have been done. I'm sat with a cup of tea waiting for dinner to cook. Wondering what small project I can do so I can tick off a thing. I think possibly the dining room table, or maybe clean a kitchen drawer 🤔

Sparklynewname · 26/06/2021 21:34

Filled around the skirting boards, twice. Undercoat done on one side of one door. It’s dry so I have just filled the holes and scratches. Will sand and paint it again tomorrow morning. Hoping DH will paint the skirting and window tomorrow so we can put the bookcase away.

Peridot1 · 27/06/2021 09:07

No jobs done here yesterday other than a couple of loads of washing. As the weather looks pretty rubbish this week here and yesterday was nice I spent the day in the garden reading. Got a bit burnt which was silly.

More washing to be done here. And I will do some sorting in my bedroom. Ordered new clothes which arrived yesterday so really need to try them on and sort through other stuff. Also have three baskets of laundry to put away.

Have a nice Sunday everyone.

MrsRussell · 27/06/2021 09:19

I made a scarf yesterday!

The stash is now somewhat depleted, which gives me great joy, as it means I can start to tidy it and order it. At least the Senior Gentlecat will now be able to curl up in it.
Laundry is well off the cards for today, so my tasks for the day are to hoover upstairs and downstairs and plant some beans.
