Worst tattoo pain?

Where did you think was the most painful area?

I had my back done yesterday and I'm limping around like a crone.

The top of my feet wasn’t fun but the absolute worst was the top of my shoulders. I have a large tattoo across my chest and up onto my shoulders, which was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I was crying while he did it and the vibrations jiggled my throat so I felt like I was going to be sick.

I’ve happily sat for five hours being tattooed but my chest took five two-hour sittings because I kept tapping out Blush

PennyDreadful66 · 15/05/2021 13:42

My ribs were a b**ch, I've had a lot of tattoos but I'd never touch my ribs again.

Been fine with the others but this was excruciating. I think I could have fried an egg on it for a week 😂

Top of my foot onto my shin. The bit where your foot meets the shin was horrendous, it's a colour gemstone so took a fair while and I was struggling by the end. I have a black and grey snake with flowers in the same place on the other foot and that wasn't too bad because it was quicker.

LavendulaAngustifolia · 15/05/2021 13:50

Behind the ear made my brain shake.

HowManyToes · 15/05/2021 13:50

Ribs 😖

LittleMissPeggySue · 15/05/2021 13:52

On my foot, just below my ankle bone was the worst for pain while it was being done. On my ribs just by where my bra sits was really painful when it was healing but surprisingly comfortable to sit for.

ChiefBabySniffer · 15/05/2021 13:52

I am pretty heavily tattooed. Elbow was not pleasant, I could feel the pain in my fingertips! But it wasn't intolerable. For me the worst by FAR was the seeping and after pain of getting my lower leg done. It's a very detailed piece the size of a side plate. Was just a normal amount of Tatpain getting it done. The following morning I couldn't weight bare at all and it was absolutely agonising. The amount of lymph that oozed out of it was terrible too. I actually had to take a week off work and keep it elevated. To ten days for the pain to subside and the Tat itself was healed before the pain totally left. Never ever EVER getting anything below the waist done. I'd rather give birth again than go through that.

Top of my foot was a bastard.

Ooh that's interesting, I found inner arm fine!

Isn't it weird how people really struggle with different areas?

Yep. The vibrations on the top of the shoulders made me feel sick.

Was that the back of your calf? Or shin?

I honestly nearly cried having my calf from ankle to knee pit done. For the bit just under the knee pit I was emitting a high pitched whine. Then couldn't walk and limped about for a week after.

Bottom of my back because I'm classy 😂 in my defence, it was the in thing at the time. That really hurt. None of the others including top of feet hurt although it was a very strange feeling when it went onto the fat bit and the sole 🤢

Any idea how painful a bracelet tattoo would be ? Planning one for next year.

Being completely honest, inner wrist is agony. But if it's only going to take an hour or two you can push through it.

I'd recommend finding a fairly "quick" tattooist. I've been to several different ones and some are so much slower than others.

I'd have the inner wrist bit done last, so the most pain is at the end. That way you're less likely to quit halfway through.

theluckiest · 15/05/2021 15:44

I found having one on my calf excruciating.
It wasn't the actual tat itself, it was having to lie on my side for 4 hours! My hip was screaming and my arm went to sleep and felt like it was made of rubber.

I'd do it again tho as the tattoo is amazing.

Did you struggle with the bits near the ankle and knee? That killed me.
BrownJenkins · 15/05/2021 15:51

Most painful for me was on my bottom.
My bracelet tattoo wasn't painful at all.
Only the outline on my shoulder hurt, the colouring in was an exquisite pain, almost orgasmic.

LeoTimmyandVi · 15/05/2021 15:53

The crease on my inner wrist near my hand - very painful and healing took forever as clothes either touched or rubbed in it - ouch!

CaptainCallisto · 15/05/2021 15:56

Definitely my calf. It wasn't too bad while he was doing it (though like pp my shoulders/arms were shaking like mad from holding such an awkward position!) but it was agony afterwards. It was leaky and swollen and red for days - I could barely walk the following morning!

GoddamReylos · 15/05/2021 16:00

Agree with inner wrist! The pain was burning hot, never again...

BitOfAFaff · 15/05/2021 16:02

I've got the bottom of my leg/top of my feet done and that was a bitch! I'd do it again but it did hurt.
The least painful was my wrist.

My partners inner arm and calf were the worse for him.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 15/05/2021 16:20

the bit over my kidneys really hurt and made me feel faint. im booked in to have soem mroe done on my lower arms in a couple of weeks, cant wait!

Iheartmysmart · 15/05/2021 16:27

Weirdly for me my thighs were the most painful. Shoulders and arms were fine so I thought legs would be a doddle but no, I nearly cried. And I was having matching tattoos on both legs so I knew whatever I went through with one was going to be repeated on the other. Five hours of agony but I love them.

The inner wrist - When I had my bracelet done the guy who did it said ... I bet you thought I was slitting your wrist then .... he wasn't wrong.
