Accused of posting on someone's LinkedIn...

I work in a public sector organisation and have been called in by my line manager to say that I have posted something offensive on someone's LinkedIn page and of causing offensive comments on twitter. Confused

I have a LinkedIn account but don't use it much, I do remember following and unfollowing this person a few months ago but no recollection of posting on their page. Is there a way I can check whether I commented without looking at their profile? I know they can see if I have looked at them and I don't want them to make any more allegations about me.

Depending on popularity, could it be on wayback machine for Twitter?

Bearyhumcrack · 02/08/2022 18:29

Some of the stuff they didn't disclose was from wayback. Nothing particularly helpful tbh.

I'm really sorry that this is still going on, it's absolute madness.

Someone I vaguely know runs a company who help employees initiate ETs, it's an online tool that takes you through the process. I don't know if it would help but here's the link- valla.uk/

HumourReplacementTherapy · 02/08/2022 19:31

So was it Twitter rather than linked in? But they said it was linked in originally?

Bearyhumcrack · 02/08/2022 19:47

It turned out to be twitter, yes.

@CraneVille thank you for the link, really useful.

Can I just ask what contractual provision you're alleging they have breached and what your losses are? I'd be interested in how you're pleading the case at ET.

PlantSpider · 08/08/2022 03:18

So someone anonymous posted something (defamatory to the company or an employee?) on Twitter that wasn’t even still there at the point your company finally provided the screenshot.

The alleged person that posted it had an alleged follower in common with you that wished you Happy Birthday.

Your manager / HR originally accused you of ‘tweeting on LinkedIn’ because they didn’t know the difference between the two mediums.

Your manager allegedly lied during eventual hearings.

They’ve taken over a year to formally give you a final written warning and in that time they accidentally made public a meeting with details about your mental health in. Your mental health that has been impacted to the point of medication, then increased, due to their interminable and flawed process?

I….. don’t know where to start really but can’t believe you’re not actively consulting a solicitor on this. Or leaving. It’s madness.

treesandweeds · 08/08/2022 19:45

You are so competent, don't let it lie.

comfortablyfrumpy · 08/08/2022 19:54

I cant believe this still hasn't been resolved. Surely, they are hoping you will lose the will, abd resign. If it ever gets abtmywhere, they will look like complete muppets.

OP stick with it, truth will out.

October2020 · 15/08/2022 23:16

So what happened about you getting arrested because of this? How are things now?

Oblomov22 · 16/08/2022 05:06

Good grief. Agree with Spider. What are you going to do now OP? Stay, make a complaint? You can't let this disaster go. What about the damage to you?

ThreeRingCircus · 16/08/2022 08:20

You absolutely need to take them to tribunal OP. It's absolutely shocking!

QuimReaper · 18/08/2022 12:06

For anyone not aware - ET costs are not usually covered by the 'losing' side, and awarded damages don't always cover them (hence the large number of legal fundraisers you see), which may be a factor in OP (or anyone) hesitating to take tribunal action.

That said OP, I am speechless that this is still rumbling on, and would gladly donate to a fundraiser to help you bring it to court, for the pure satisfaction!

Xenia · 18/08/2022 12:28

As said above this is awful but also tribunals can be very risk unless you have insurance or union funding and there are strict deadlines for claims (usually 3 months for things like unfair dismissal). However you might want an employment solicitor to write to the company on your behalf trying to get the warning taken off your record which seems unfairly applied and I suppose might affect future promotions or new jobs elsewhere.

I'd put towards as well. Followed you from the beginning @Beary and am disgusted on your behalf. You've never impeccably and far more civil than I would have. Keep strong.

gatehouseoffleet · 18/08/2022 13:20

I see. Well good luck at the ET. They have to prove it was you, and they won't be able to. And the poor investigation and processes will count against them as well.

I wonder that some employers have time for this nonsense. No wonder productivity in the UK is poor! A complete lack of prioritisation.

Is nobody else going to comment on the being arrested thing?! Hope you're okay OP!
