Accused of posting on someone's LinkedIn...

I work in a public sector organisation and have been called in by my line manager to say that I have posted something offensive on someone's LinkedIn page and of causing offensive comments on twitter. Confused

I have a LinkedIn account but don't use it much, I do remember following and unfollowing this person a few months ago but no recollection of posting on their page. Is there a way I can check whether I commented without looking at their profile? I know they can see if I have looked at them and I don't want them to make any more allegations about me.

I have no good advice but you are doing brilliantly. Stay calm and carry on. Work these days is an absolute minefield of being scared to say or do anything that might be construed negatively. I remember saying lol to someone who had been droning on. I hadn’t been listening to what they were saying as it was late, I was hungry and they were slightly boring. The ensuing investigation into why I had laughed at a totally inappropriate comment still haunts me. Nowadays, I stick to saying “Hmm” or “I see”. You have my sympathy!

TragoCardboardCopper · 23/01/2022 14:46

I'd take it as a positive OP, honestly. I also catastrophise wildly, but in this case I really think is a good thing!

My immediate thought was someone removed from the situation has looked over the records and your complaint (particularly that you have recordings that show LM is a liar!) and has thought 'what the fuckity fuck?!' and has raised flags left and right that LM is right on course to get the company sued!

Fingers crossed this is the beginning of the end!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 23/01/2022 15:14

Yep this sounds like someone removed from the process is having a look

Bearyhumcrack · 23/01/2022 15:20

Fingers crossed. That would be such good news for me!

Does the union rep have a copy of your complaint, @Bearyhumcrack?

Bearyhumcrack · 23/01/2022 16:31

Yes. She has everything except recordings of the meetings.

emwithme · 23/01/2022 17:43

I hope it gets resolved for you...must be awful being on tenterhooks for so long

Daftapath · 23/01/2022 17:50

@Bearyhumcrack

Yes. She has everything except recordings of the meetings.
Good stuff!

I hope it all gets resolved for you now. I can't believe that any HR Department worth their salt would want to drag this out any more!

ChickenGotLegs · 23/01/2022 18:52

I'm amazed this is still ongoing.
Hope you get the outcome your looking for. :)

DragonMovie · 23/01/2022 20:12

I’ve just read all of your posts…. This is insane and I am rooting for you. It doesn’t sound like he has a leg to stand on…

2DogsOnMySofa · 23/01/2022 20:54

I'm agog this is still getting airtime for you.. honestly op I'd be suing the company once this has been out to bed

Bearyhumcrack · 25/01/2022 18:59

I'm itching for an update but they seem in absolutely no hurry!!

RandomMess · 25/01/2022 22:57

Arghhhhhhh their snail like pace is beyond infuriating!

Nillynally · 25/01/2022 23:06

I cannot believe this has been going since May. It is absolutely bonkers.

GrealishHairband · 25/01/2022 23:35

I’ve just read this whole thread and I’m flabbergasted at it! Well done you OP for seeing this through.

NeverChange · 25/01/2022 23:49

This is insane. You have more patience than I do. Fair play for sticking with it.

comfortablyfrumpy · 26/01/2022 08:26

OP I was following your thread last year - with an open mouth and much head shaking!

I cant believe they are dragging this on for so long it's ridiculous. I hope you get resolution soon.

Shiningpath · 26/01/2022 08:48

OP I really admire your fortitude. I hope you get a resolution soon. Flowers

larkstar · 27/01/2022 18:53

...and then I woke up and it was all a dream. I suspect this is going to have a non-ending. There's no way I would have put up with this for so long but then again - I have done exactly that and walked out of a job - made a decision on the spot and just left the building never to return - obviously that's not a course of action I'd recommend in very many situations but if it's impossible to work because of the strain of it - living under the threat of some unknown action against you - I'd consider the most drastic of actions to force a resolution - what have you actually considered? You're in an impossible situation aren't you? Ask to be put on paid leave until they resolve it? Quit and claim you have effectively been put in a position where you can not possibly continue to work at the company. Is any job worth this hassle? Just get another job - don't you think you have enough reason to justify leave? Or you think finding any other unemployment would be very difficult. In my view - it's only a job - I've been through redundancy from highly paid jobs in a volatile sector (software) 6 times (complete company closures, work being taken back to other countries, etc) - that's probably why losing a job was not the end of the world - stressful but not devastating - life goes on - you make things happen and move on.

larkstar · 27/01/2022 18:55

Will you look back on this time and think I lived the best life I possibly could? It's your precious life being used up on this cr*p.

Level75 · 27/01/2022 19:30

This is insane, as I say this as an employment solicitor who has seen a lot! It's like something from a Kafka novel.

Milomonster · 27/01/2022 19:49

Still rooting for you hairy!

SingToTheSky · 27/01/2022 21:43

My god, I hadn’t seen this before but have just read through your posts fully expecting this to have been resolved… how can any of this still be ticking on? Sorry I have nothing useful to add, but you are absolutely incredible to be still fighting. I am so glad you are thinking of becoming a union rep in future - you will be brilliant at it. 💐

Bearyhumcrack · 28/01/2022 06:31

Thank you everyone. @larkstar I have absolutely had all of these thoughts! The thing is, I really like my job and the people I work with. I detest the organisation though. I will actually rotate to a completely different part in the summer so I'm kinda hanging on and of course, I lack the confidence to walk out and get another job that matches the pay and pension but I absolutely hear you and some days I just want to down tools and fuck off. I have an escalation plan which will kick in in 3 weeks so let's see. I want to be viewed as the reasonable one at the end of all of this!!

@level75 oh crikey! It was difficult actually to find legal advice, many wouldn't get involved in internal discipline stuff. Advice gratefully received. I'm being adequately advised by my union but I do feel it's stacked against me.

Ho hum. Approaching 9 months now which breaches all sorts of policy. Can't wait to hear from rep about this investigation, just wish they would bloody hurry up!

Gosh I’ve just picked up your thread. This sounds horrendous. Your lm mocking your mh and publishing details is horrendous. The whole thing sounds like a targeted campaign by your lm to get you to leave.

I’ve only read your posts as it is a very long thread and I wanted to add my support. I truly hope you are getting all the support you need from this thread and from therapy. Flowers
