How often do you have snacks, e.g. biscuits, cakes, buns, crumpets etc with coffee and tea ?

I've largely got out of the habit on account of my waistline not getting any smaller but I occasionally like a small bar of Aldi dark chocolate with mid-morning coffee. Hobnobs, pain au chocolat et al are great but I'm trying to be strict!

I don't. I'm overweight and trying to lose weight. No snacking any more for me!

RampantIvy · 12/05/2021 20:30

There are some admirable examples of restraint on here

Nothing to do with restraint in my case. I just don't fancy snacking. I find that a meal keeps me satisfied until the next meal. I don't get hungry between meals.

bengalcat · 12/05/2021 20:32

Drink quite a bit of coffee / black - rarely snack

Bookworm19 · 12/05/2021 21:37

Fuck me, life is too short to be miserly over the occasional biscuit or piece of cake Confused gotta love the competitive eating on here.

I bloody love chocolate so usually have some chocolate biscuits, piece of chocolate cake and/or chocolate bar every day. I can't really stomach massive meals though.

I enjoy chocolate, it gives me pleasure as do all other foods. Nothing wrong as part of a varied diet. I'm certainly not going to deny myself something I enjoy.

RampantIvy · 12/05/2021 22:06

I'm not fussed about chocolate, but I can't resist a bag of liquorice allsorts.

AmelieTaylor · 12/05/2021 22:14

I don't.

I eat very very low carb, but due to my body & it's processing quirks I'm the size of double decker bus. . Life is unfair!!

KurtWilde · 12/05/2021 22:20

Every day tbh. I love a crumpet or croissant for breakfast and always have a few biscuits with my coffee.

Nataliafalka · 12/05/2021 22:25

Never. I don’t have a sweet tooth so never occurs to me. Save my calories for kettle chips

@WildRosie

There are some admirable examples of restraint on here. Ironic considering people's favourite biscuits is often discussed on this forum. I'm quite picky about the kind of freshly-baked things I see in the baker's shop. For example, I'll happily plump for a half-chocolate flapjack or one of their big toffee choux buns, but I'll steer clear of vanilla slices and custard tarts. Likewise, I avoid digestive and rich tea biccies but go for Biscoff and Hobnobs. None of them too often.
It's not about restraint, it just literally doesn't occur to me to have cakes/biscuits! Thinking back, I actually can't remember the last time I ate a biscuit. We don't have any in the house at the moment. I don't think I've ever bought a cream cake in my life just because it never occurred to me to! I am overweight so I'm not doing the competitive undereating thing, I just have different habits.
RampantIvy · 12/05/2021 22:58

I adore shortbread, but it's all or nothing for me, so I don't keep them in the house. I would be the size of a house if I did. I don't crave them if they aren't there.

TheChosenTwo · 12/05/2021 23:08

I don’t drink tea or coffee but I do eat something that you’d call a treat every day!
I love all food really.
I do a lot of exercise (mostly because of my mental health but also because I want to be able to eat as much as I do without outgrowing my clothes) and although it doesn’t mitigate a bad diet, I don’t consider my diet to be bad really.
I just eat in moderation.

Not being competitive. I'm not teeny tiny. I'm middle aged, average height for my age and not always able to exercise as much as I'd like due to knackered joints so prioritise what I actually enjoy in order to not be overweight (and hurt my knees and hips more than they already do)
PickAChew · 12/05/2021 23:47

And I bloody love liquorice all sorts! Just don't have them unless someone bought me some as a present - then eat my favourites (the toilet rolls, mostly) and share the rest.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 13/05/2021 10:21

Pretty similar here @PickAChew. I’m a size 12, not a TeenyTiny and at the age where every mouthful catches up with you. I do love sugary foods but have to exercise some restraint or else I’d be snacking all the time, plus I get migraines and sugar is a major trigger for me so much as I love it, I try to avoid it. Not always successfully but if/when I eat it I’m out of action for hours/days Angry & Sad and I vow I’ll stay off it. Like when you get a horrible hangover you swear you’ll never drink again...

DioneTheDiabolist · 13/05/2021 10:33

I eat something with every cuppa (crumpets, buns, biscuits, toast) I'm allergic to wet tea.Wink I normally just have a bit of chocolate with coffee, I drink small strong coffee.

Bloodybridget · 13/05/2021 10:40

Twice a day atm, and it's nothing to do with hunger, just pure greed. Sainsbury's sourdough crumpets are current favourite.

SunshineSuxx · 13/05/2021 10:42

Never as I'm diabetic. If I could though, oh boy I would. I love love love sweet things Sad

Snacks aren't part of my daily diet, but if they are, I have olives, walnuts and tiny cubes of very very mature cheddar.

Ragwort · 13/05/2021 11:10

Frequently ... which is why I am two stone overweight Blush.
