Bit random, I just remember the time I found a Hot Wheel (toy car) in the toilet...instead of taking it out I thought "It's no bigger or heavier than a poop surely" so flushed it. Obviously it got stuck.

Can't think of any more off the top of my head. Come on I can't be the only one. What silly or "stupid" thing have you done that afterwards you thought What was I thinking?!

Accidentally went to go up a down escalator. Decided to keep on going. And going. And going.

NuffSaidSam · 12/05/2021 11:59

Tested to see if a razor was blunt by running my finger across the blade.

It's wasn't blunt.

pumpkinpie01 · 12/05/2021 12:01

Went to throw a brick that was on my driveway back onto the building site next door , totally misjudged it and it smashed through my car windscreen .

I once began to wash my face and I realised I still had my glasses on. Not the best way of cleaning them.

leavingtime · 12/05/2021 12:05

I was giving my kids strict instructions when they came in from school to now take off their outdoor shoes every day/take care of the new carpet which had been down for about an hour.
I then promptly knocked my cup of coffee off the edge of the table all over the carpet. They were hysterical with laughter.

Sprayed sun lotion on my face with my glasses still on.
Closed a car door on myself ( I was sober, honestly)
Thrown a £20 note in the bin & put a chocolate wrapper in my purse.

I am a fucking shambles Grin

We lost our car keys on holiday. We looked everywhere. The hotel helped. They were no where. Had to get car locksmith out in the end.

A few months later we moved house. And I found the car keys... In the lining of a suitcase. No idea how they got in there, or how we failed to find them at the time...

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/05/2021 13:32

@NuffSaidSam yep done that too. It's the moment of ahh ouch after

Put a finger into my hot milk to see if was hot enough..it was and flicked the milk skin that formed onto my face. Lovely burn

Reached across the kettle as was steaming to get a cup. Then thought ouch something hurts. Oh...steam burn

Shut my thumb in the car door. Somehow as it was the hand I was closing the door with

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 12/05/2021 13:39

Put a chocolate hobnob on the iron to see if it was hot. It was!
Why would I ever think that was a good idea? Had to switch off the iron, let it cool and them clean the chocolate off it.
Ruined my hobnob!!

I laughed at this, sorry, but what a random thing to doGrin.

Years ago, at school seeing my first even Bunsen Burner, put my finger on it to see if it was hot. It was.

More recently I cleaned my teeth with my daughter's Aqueous cream.

Another childhood one, I put my hand on the ground to stop a spinning roundabout, nearly ripped my arm off, not a good idea.

Jongleurterre · 12/05/2021 13:48

We had a clearout of toys and then my daughter had a huge regret at getting rid of a toy poodle.

It came from an America relative from when she was born so was at least 8/9 years old.

I found one on eBay that looked identical and bought it. It was from America and was quite expensive and postage was fairly high.

When it arrived it was indeed exactly the same as her old one except that it was a miniature version and around 4/5 inches tall whereas her previously one had been at least 2 foot tall!

In my excitement to purchase it before anyone else didn’t I hadn’t bothered to read the measurements!

Loving this thread! Yep done the razor thing. Also : once so busy watching what someone across the road was doing I walked straight into a lampost; randomly ran down my own hallway and tried to jump the 3 steps at the end and knocked myself out on the lowered ceiling; became very insistent on paying a large bill in cash at completely the wrong utility company (old days, think gas company but the bill was for water rates) and then many, many more examples that are just too outing (unbelievably embarrassing) to share.😁

I tried to stop myself on a huge, almost vertical waterslide in Spain with my arms. I still have faint scars to this day.

wingsofsteel · 12/05/2021 14:06

I was cutting piles of paper in half for a kids activity craft using on of those slide type paper cutters (like they have in schools). The blade got blocked with bits of paper so I took it apart to clean- and decided the best way to clean the very very sharp blade was clearly to wipe it with the side of my thumb! In case you're wondering- it's not a good idea.

languagelover96 · 12/05/2021 14:09

Fell out of a tree once
Farted loudly in class
Skipped questions on a GCSE exam paper

CheerfulBunny · 12/05/2021 14:16

Whilst at my Saturday job in a lighting shop as a teenager I was idylly wondering what would happen if I put my finger in the electric track that displayed the lights. Really hurt and had a dead arm for a week. Also glued my fingers together with superglue at the same job.
Tripped over walking away from the bar with a full pint of Guinness at a festival. The liquid transcribed a perfect arc over my head and splattered down my back. I was wearing a pale blue shirt at the time.

I had a holiday job at a factory when I was a student. I usually did admin stuff but one day they asked me to do some welding - not the kind where you use a mask and there's loads of sparks, just melting little bits of soft metal using a thing like a very hot pen.

I put the pen thing back in its holder and couldn't remember if I'd turned it off, so I tested it, using my finger. It hurt horribly for the rest of the day. I probably shouldn't be let out on my own.
