How many have you got?

I've just been sorting umbrellas out in our house. They weren't all in the same place, so until now I hadn't realised how many we actually had. There are only two of us, with one pair of hands each... I'll update later with the actual number if I'm not too embarassed . But it occurrs to me that part of the clutter problem here, is not just having irrelevant stuff/rubbish, but having useful stuff, but just too much of it. Anyone relate?

Does nobody care about my brollies?! Sad

I have several, usually black and found in the dark places of the cars or at the bottom of bags.

sittingonacornflake · 11/05/2021 18:23

I have 1. Which I stole from work. DS is 3 so been thinking I might get him his own colour changing umbrella however we also live on the coast and don't really use them due to wind.

But regarding the other part of your post - yes (other than umbrellas clearly) I do have duplicates / triplicates (more sometimes) of useful items and I'm actually on a bit of a decluttering mission!

Standrewsschool · 11/05/2021 18:24

One. I hate brollies. I’d rather have a hood up, or get wet hair.

Bluntness100 · 11/05/2021 18:24

I have two that are small telescopic ones, and my husband has a large golf one.

TroysMammy · 11/05/2021 18:27

Quick head count I have 9 and also 2 sun parasols.

user143677433 · 11/05/2021 18:27

I have 2. A large golf umbrella for the car, and a folding one for in a bag.

That kind of clutter is usually self-perpetuating. You buy new things (umbrellas in this case) rather than looking for the ones you already have amidst the other clutter. If you decluttered, you would find that having one or two would be fine, because you would know where they were.

TroysMammy · 11/05/2021 18:28

Forgot to say they are all mine.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 11/05/2021 18:28

Oh gosh. It might be worse than I thought... @sittingonacornflake I was half heartedly de cluttering, so I think I need to bear in mind I can only use so much! There seems to be far too much tupperware stuff too, considering stuff generally gets shoved in a bowl, or a takeaway container in the fridge.

I hate umbrellas, I have 1, but I can't remember the last time I used it.
DD has one and uses it when she goes out to play in the rain.
DH has 5 (that I know of) scattered around the car and cupboard and office.

justthecat · 11/05/2021 18:33

2 - one belonged to dh late grandad and a Rory the racing car one that was my youngest dc one, he’s nearly 16 so it’s probably not been used for about 10 years!

Igmum · 11/05/2021 18:37
  1. Plus parasols. There's two of us and I don't use umbrellas (clearly doesn't stop me buying them Blush)
flashylamp · 11/05/2021 18:38

None. I just get wet. It's never bothered me. My Nanna has about 400 million - one in each shade of each colour to match her outfits.

StCharlotte · 11/05/2021 18:39

Four. A medium black foldy-uppy one. Dull. A large black one that's normally in the car. A tiny red one that goes in my work bag and the piéce de resistance: a see-through one with red trim WHICH LIGHTS UP!!!

I'm so glad you asked Grin

Palavah · 11/05/2021 18:41

Alright Miss Schlegel

TroysMammy · 11/05/2021 18:46

Forgot my niece 's panda umbrella she's left here - 10.

Aprilwasverywet · 11/05/2021 18:47

I have the one from Mary Poppins...
Never used it yet. I imagine holding 2 x ddogs +huge brolly in the rain won't be easily achievable...

LavendulaAngustifolia · 11/05/2021 18:48

1 beautiful pagoda umbrella that I rarely use as I'd rather wear a waterproof with a hood but I use at the occasions I need to be a bit smarter like weddings or funerals.

kowari · 11/05/2021 18:51

None. They break. I asked DS if he wanted another and he didn't. Wd just wear rain jackets if needed.

kowari · 11/05/2021 18:53

If I already have useful stuff then I don't buy more, as more than we need is not any more useful, it's just stuff.

redcandlelight · 11/05/2021 18:54

2 good ones
2 ok ones (a bit wonky)
and about 5 that are just crap

takingmytimeonmyride · 11/05/2021 18:54

A rainbow one from Mountain Warehouse. 2 Poundland ones that are supposed to be in the car.
1 Thomas the tank engine one I bought for DS1. He's now 22.

I don't even use them as they go inside out and break. Which is why the Thomas one has lasted so long! It just sits in the hall.

OhRene · 11/05/2021 18:55

4

One I bought in an emergency and it has pictures of cats on and says something stupid like "It's raining cats". I won't use that.

My old trusty purple one but the handle comes apart sometimes. I should bin it.

A red one which is too flimsy and can't hold up to the slightest breeze.

And my favourite, my latest (and far too expensive for a mere umbrella!) a Resident Evil Umbrella Corporation one. My Umbrella Umbrella. I wish more people "got it" though.

TeenMinusTests · 11/05/2021 18:58

I generally prefer a decent waterproof to an umbrella.
I don't have my own umbrella though we do have a couple of large ones and DD has a colour change compact one.

TheChosenTwo · 11/05/2021 19:00

None, hate them. Wet slimy uncontrollable fuckers, would rather just wear a proper coat that has a hood and keep my hands free.
