My kitchen is haunted

I have a bowl of conkers on the floor of my kitchen. Over the last fortnight, on two mornings I've found one of them on the floor by the oven about 3m away. It looks like something was trying to drag it under the oven Shock. This morning, it's happened again plus another conker is on the other side of the kitchen.

I live alone and have no pets. Is my kitchen haunted??

More likely mouse infested imo.

HauntedKitchen · 07/05/2021 09:33

Yep, my first thought too. But there's no poo.

They're shitting under the cooker.

Either that or it's a massive hairy spider

Set up a camera? And report back . I really need to know the answer to this mystery myself now !

Bumblebee413 · 07/05/2021 09:42

Rats? They don't poo everywhere

DisaL · 07/05/2021 09:42

You might think you have no pets Haunted but I think whatever "pet" has moved in with you would say different Wink

HauntedKitchen · 07/05/2021 09:56

I've just rootled around under the cooker and found dust bunnies and toast crumbs, but no poo. And no hairy spiders.

My new pet also did this. Dislodged a strip of wood from the base of the kitchen cabinet.

Hmm, giant angry non-pooing rat 🐀

justanotherneighinparadise · 07/05/2021 09:59

It’ll be mice. We have them in our garage and they systematically unpicked my lockdown children’s collages made from pulses and seeds. I would it down some traps.

Armi · 07/05/2021 10:00

Rats. Good luck!

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 07/05/2021 10:01

Pixies. Leave bread and milk out for them or they'll get cross.

ComingToGetUBarbara · 07/05/2021 10:04

Why is there a bowl of conkers on the kitchen floor? [misses point of thread]

nancywhitehead · 07/05/2021 10:06

Mice/rats.

Why would you conclude from this that your kitchen is haunted? Confused

And why would a ghost be dragging a conker around your kitchen floor? Lol

Then again I don't believe in ghosts and struggle to relate to those who do

HauntedKitchen · 07/05/2021 10:07

I don't know what's worse: lying in bed imagining poltergeists and demons wandering about my kitchen, or having giant non-pooing rats/spiders tramping about in the middle of the night.

OP posts:
Themadcatparade · 07/05/2021 10:09

It’s defo a ghoul in my opinion

HauntedKitchen · 07/05/2021 10:10

Fuck me, pixies?? Are they not content with fallen toast crumbs?

The conkers are there to stop spiders roaming about. I suspect this is a myth, but they're part of the furniture now.

Rats would do that to your cupboards.
I'd call the council out,
Good luck.

Loyaultemelie · 07/05/2021 10:43

It could be fae. If it's a brownie it will appreciate sweet treats and will be mischievous a bloody nuisance, if its a pixie it will appreciate natural gifts (likely given the conker stealing). If it's a non pooing rat good luck

Now trying to imagine how a constipated rat would behave.
TaraR2020 · 07/05/2021 11:27

They're probably shifting during the night due to vibrations of something nearby, especially if floor isn't perfectly level.

Conkers do work for spiders, though I put them near entrance ways not in the middle of the floor. I've yet to meet a spider who hovers at threshold thinking, "ooh best not, massive bowl of conkers all the way over there"

milleniumhandandprawn · 07/05/2021 11:40

I'd sprinkle some flour on the floor at night and see what sort of tracks turn up :)

cricketmum84 · 07/05/2021 11:45

There's a giant cooker loving spider living under your oven. 100%

HauntedKitchen · 07/05/2021 11:45

I like this theory (mainly because it doesn't involve new pets or wee beasties) but there's a cupboard and a step between the conker bowl and the cooker, so it's unlikely.

I like the flour idea and I'll start filming overnight I think.

Otherwise, who ya gonna call ...??

Burn the house down. Or move out.
