You book a quick trim, you get a quick trim

Someone I know have just had a quite a drastic change of hairstyle, let’s say going from shoulder length to pixie type of hairstyle. When it came up in a conversation she’s said that she booked for a quick trim but changed her mind the day before the appointment. Claims the hairdresser didn’t mind and just charged for a proper cut.
I thought it a bit rude, also a proper cut takes longer than a trim, other clients might have to wait etc. She sees no problem... Am I overreacting?
A first world problem, I know.

Good grief. Why are you reacting at all? How does this affect you? If the hairdresser was happy then it’s fine.

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/05/2021 18:32

I don't see why it would bother you, tbh.

Branleuse · 06/05/2021 18:32

She got the haircut she wanted and paid for, She checked in advance with the hairdresser who didnt mind.
You are massively overreacting

This is between your friend and her hairdresser. It's not interesting to anyone else.

VioletViola · 06/05/2021 18:34

It's not a first world problem, it's not even a problem.

LindaEllen · 06/05/2021 18:35

Why the fuck would it even occur to you to write a thread about this?

wingsnthat · 06/05/2021 18:35

At my salon there is no “quick trim” service. It’s a cut and blow dry service regardless of how little you want off. Therefore there would have already been enough time allocated if I wanted a full cut vs a trim

FlibbertyGiblets · 06/05/2021 18:36
Confused
Tofflee · 06/05/2021 18:36

It would definitely annoy me if I was the hairdresser. No, not really a problem. Different people, different opinions.

If this is your most pressing concern, can we swap lives? Confused

paralysedbyinertia · 06/05/2021 18:36

Weird overreaction!

It's for the hairdresser to manage her time/other client appointments. If she hadn't been able to fit it in without keeping others waiting, I'm sure that she'd have said to re-book for another day.

It sounds like you need something else to focus on. It's quite strange to be so invested in something as trivial as this when it doesn't even affect you. Maybe find a new hobby or something?

BoomChicka · 06/05/2021 18:36

Outrageous! Start a petition, there's a pandemic etc.

Mydarlingmyhamburger · 06/05/2021 18:36

If the hairdresser had clients waiting then she would have said ‘sorry, I’ve only got time to do the trim you’ve booked’. She obviously had time, was probably happy about the extra cash she would earn, and a potential bigger tip for her troubles

It would annoy you if someone asked you to do extra work for extra money?
UCOinanOCG · 06/05/2021 18:38

Yes you are overreacting. The hairdresser agreed to do the restyle so obviously knew she had time to fit it in. Why would you care about this?

But you're not the hairdresser. She obviously had the time so didn't mind, if she didn't have time she would have said so, it's more money for her aswell if she charges more for that which it sounds like she does from your op.

I can't imagine why you even thought about this when your friend told you, never mind come to MN to make a thread about it

AppropriateAdult · 06/05/2021 18:39

I’ve never specified the length of cut when I’ve made an appointment at the hairdressers Confused It’s always just a cut and blow-dry, and then when you arrive you discuss exactly what you want with the stylist.

Tofflee · 06/05/2021 18:40

You book car for new tires, you don’t expect your brakes getting done or do you?

OP posts:
mygreylife · 06/05/2021 18:41

I can't understand why this affects you in the slightest... if this is your biggest concern I'd love to be you for a day! 😅

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 06/05/2021 18:41

You are over reacting by reacting at all, all the parties involved were happy with it not sure why you care all that much.

Lou98 · 06/05/2021 18:42

@Tofflee

I wouldn't just expect it no - I would ask if they had time to also do my brakes. If they don't, no problem I'd just get the tires done. If they do, then great, my brakes are done and they've got extra for the extra work.

I really don't see why you're so worked up - your friend asked the hairdresser and she said yes, she never just went in demanding it was done

UCOinanOCG · 06/05/2021 18:42

I often add things to be sorted or at least looked at when I take my car to the garage!
minniep · 06/05/2021 18:43

In my experience hairdressers love the opportunity to do lots of cutting so the stylist was probably delighted

Oh girl. This isn’t even an equivalent analogy

It really doesn’t matter whether you want 2cm or 2 inches taken off (or more). The process is virtually the same

You’re acting like she booked in for a cut but suddenly demanded a full head of highlights, colour between the foils, toner and hair extensions when she arrived.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 06/05/2021 18:45

people were doing this when the hairdressers first opened. i was surprised too but i guess the hairdresser could have said No to restyle
