Do you have a cooked dinner every day?

Just that really.

We have sandwiches or salad for lunch, then a cooked dinner in the evening, meat, veg or pasta, etc.

Someone has just told me that they often just have a bowl of cereal for dinner. I know this isn’t a financial decision for them, but I guess maybe they sometimes just don’t feel like cooking.

Usually a cooked lunch, since wfh during the pandemic. Not sure what I will do once back in the office, at least some days of the week.

tiredanddangerous · 05/05/2021 20:59

Yes every night.

idontlikealdi · 05/05/2021 21:00

Two days a week I don't eat all in the evening, have a 1945 high impact / heavy lifting gym session and just don't feel like it after. I make up for it beforehand though. The Huss and cooks for him and the kids.

If we have a big Sunday lunch we just have crumpets or toast in the evening.

So sorry about the spelling! Hope you get the gist...

grapewine · 05/05/2021 21:02

No. Mostly on the weekend. If I have visitors then I will cook.

Lyricallie · 05/05/2021 21:02

When I was a student I used to have bourbon biscuits for dinner 😂

But no, now I have a cooked dinner I'm usually starving by dinner time. Occasionally we'll have a beige oven dinner but for the most part it's a homemade cooked dinner.

Bomchiccawick · 05/05/2021 21:11

Yes I cook every night, it’s my favourite meal of the day so I like to enjoy it!

teddybears55 · 05/05/2021 21:12

Yeah every night. However, if it were just me no way I'd be making a proper meal. I'd maybe just have crisps&dips, houmous & pita or even a bacon roll, yum 🤤

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/05/2021 21:13

No.
Around four times a week.

pallisers · 05/05/2021 21:14

We have a proper dinner every day. In summer it might be something like a nicoise salad and bread though so not necessarily cooked. If we have substantial leftovers for lunch, then I might just do soup or a sandwich for dinner but that is rare.

I like cooking and like a nice evening meal. If I am on my own (really rare) I will just make pasta and pesto.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 05/05/2021 21:48

Always, unless we’ve been out and had a main meal at lunchtime. I enjoy cooking and meal planning though and can be a bit obsessive about eating the rainbow. No doubt feel differently about the enjoyment of it when kids are involved!

IhaveMyMoments · 05/05/2021 22:32

Yes they all do and i do most of the time. .. I hate it!
Often ill just have crackers, toast or cereal. Id happily have a cooked dinner maybe just once a week. I hate them I find it boring

MadMadMadamMim · 05/05/2021 22:35

Yes, always. It's our main meal of the day.

Sandwiches/something on toast/salad perhaps for lunch.

But then a proper cooked tea at about 6pm. Also, still have 6ft teenage son at home and he'd be most disgruntled after a day at school to be offered a bowl of cereal instead of a meal.

fiheka · 05/05/2021 22:35

We always have a proper meal although on hot days it might be salads with quiche or cold cooked chicken.

SeaTurtles92 · 05/05/2021 22:41

Always have a cooked dinner.
I love dinner!

memost · 05/05/2021 22:44

Yes generally- not always breakfast or lunch but usually dinner - unless we have eaten out for lunch and then we won't have anything in the evening - no need.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 05/05/2021 22:45

No

RedSoloCup · 05/05/2021 22:50

Yes but if it was just me I definitely wouldn't!! Also find 'salad' more of a faff than a proper cooked meals by the time I've peeled and chopped all the bits and added other stuff I hate making salads 😂

Pre kids and husband I used to eat a sandwich/ toast / crackers for tea and all was good 😁

SHOCu924 · 05/05/2021 23:06

I usually have a cooked lunch as does the rest of the family so cant always be bothered to have a second warm meal of the day.

JackieTheFart · 05/05/2021 23:09

Yes, every day. Occasionally we’ll have a cold something or another, but generally that’s in the height of summer!

We eat together as a family. Before kids and when they were very little I might have had cereal for dinner. Not now.

JackieTheFart · 05/05/2021 23:10

@RedSoloCup god I hate prepping salads too. It’s such a faff, and then it’s either too much and you have to have it two nights on the trot, or it’s not enough so someone has to cut up more of whatever. I barely tolerate eating it let alone making it!

steppemum · 05/05/2021 23:12

yes always.

But that is partly because I cook for whole family, if I lived on my own, I'd probably have beans on toast/soup sometimes

Bloodybridget · 05/05/2021 23:22

Yes always, I like food and look forward to a nice dinner. I'd never feel like eating cereal in the evening.

noblegreenk · 05/05/2021 23:25

Yes we do. Although when I lived by myself I'd skip a cooked dinner a couple of times a week. I find it hard to motivate myself to cook when it's just for myself. It feels like a lot of effort just for little old me.

Heartofglass12345 · 05/05/2021 23:25

I do now I have a family but when I was living on my own I didn't bother some days lol
