Local news had a gas explosion in a house, terrifying footage of part of the house going up like a rocket, several people were hurt and the house is a complete wreck. Some years ago my DM (who was elderly with Dementia) turned on a couple of burners on the cooker but didn't light them, I arrived pre work to drop something off to a house reeking of gas!
I got the house aired out and had a Gas fitter cut off the supply.
Watching the news brought home how close my DM was to disaster and probably serious injury. I still feel guilty I didn't sort this before hand.
Anyone else care to sooth my guilt?

My husband was doing some DIY with his table saw and I was talking to him. I absentmindedly put my hand on the table very close to the saw and he had to apply the emergency off switch as it was about to chop off a couple of fingers. I actually cried and had nightmares for a couple of days 😢 I stay well away away now! Can’t trust myself 😂

I was run over by a motorbike being ridden illegally at speed round a blind bend on a footpath. I was thrown by the impact and had serious injuries. However it was only the first motorbike that hit me, the dickhead had a mate following and I opened my eyes after I landed to see the wheel of the second motorbike heading straight for my head, I rolled to the side just in the nick of time as the tyres passed inches from my face sitting me with dirt and the wind from the wheel blew across my face. If I hadn't opened my eyes and texted so quickly it would have burst my head like a water melon. I could hear screaming and was puzzled wondering who it was, then as my awareness of the source of huge pain focused I realised it was me. I thought previously that was just an artistic licence thing to say in stories, so it was odd to discover this actually happens!
The police tried to find the culprits but no joy. I hope it took them a really really long time to pick off my bits of flesh from their bike.

Spraying me with dirt. 🙄
Reacted so quickly... I was not livestream texting as it happened. 😆

In my first cheapie old car, had the brakes fail completely right after I was driving down a fairly steep hill behind a big truck. Guardian angel was certainly with me that day.

Decades later, driving down the M3 to visit elderly DM, early evening, bright blinding sun after heavy rain, a lot of cars in the fast lane driving too fast and too close for the conditions. Literally as I passed in the middle lane, one car had evidently slowed slightly and the one right behind ended up on top of it. I missed a pile up by the merest whisker.

I was at a festival two years ago.
A metal festival.

I was deep into the crowds when the main headliner came on. People are pushing from all angles, my feet were literally off the ground.

It was getting dangerous and my only way out was to crowd surf out, a guy lifted me up and I was being thrown forwards to the barriers, when suddenly I fell to the floor and I was underneath a surge of people on top of me.
All I can remember was not being able to breathe, and the weight felt heavier and heavier on top of me, I remember screaming and crying and desperately trying to scramble free, I felt weaker. And there came a point where I was certain I was going to suffocate. A guy was on the floor next me me holding into my other arm trying to pull me up, he could see I was in in serious trouble.

Thankfully the crowds moved back and I was pulled back up and security dragged me out.

I cannot explain how scary it was not being able to breathe and being completely trapped. I just wish I knew who the guy was who wouldn’t let go of me. I honestly dread to think what would of happened if he didn’t see me under all those people.

@elfycat

oh, OK.

Rockets mean space rockets to me today after DH woke me up to watch the vertical rocket landing thing from last night (I wanted to snooze for another half hour). I know about the other type too, but my head's in science/ space rocket mode.

It is what the other poster was referring to tho, when she said a rocket is due to fall to earth.
