I didn’t have an email address in my teens. Think I was about 22/23? And it’s the same one I use now. Just my name and surname abbreviated.

weareallpassengers · 04/05/2021 06:53

It didn't exist. .although in my 30's we used love@lycos. (For a joke)

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 04/05/2021 06:58

Didn't have one either., first one I got was given to me from the university I was in.

About the same time I had a lecture on what a computer waa and to explain the Internet. (While i did know what a computer was at the time and that part amused me and others, I had never used or heard of the Internet.)

toomuchfaster · 04/05/2021 07:01

I still use mine as it's a contraction of my name.

LittleRa · 04/05/2021 07:02

A friend of mine’s was grooveycool@..... Grin

A couple of years ago a new woman started at my work and she hadn’t been given a work email yet but had been deleted from her old work email so she gave me her personal one for the meantime. Her name is Katie and it was waaaaazzzzzuppp_kt@.... Grin

(Some specific details changed for privacy but the general gist the same)

MyGorramShip · 04/05/2021 07:04

SeaTurtles92 · 04/05/2021 07:04

I had so many, silly stupid ones at about 12-14.
(My name) losthershoes@

It's funny looking back at them now Grin.

BerniesMittens · 04/05/2021 08:35

Early-eighties. Hmm No internet/email.

Only boys could do computer studies at my school, too. Sad

Same here. Mine was an all girls school - we had 1 computer! We did learn how to do some sort o code so that it would draw a picture of a strawberry though. That has been really useful! No email at uni either.

I had my first personal one at the age of about 30 I think.

hennybeans · 04/05/2021 08:39

nameyearofbirth@ hotmail.com
Not very original.

Moondust001 · 04/05/2021 08:42

Late 60's / 70's - a what now?

The first computer I saw was at university. It was a building. Literally. Opposite the library. Three stories high. A bit difficult to tuck on your handbag.

sashh · 04/05/2021 08:43

LMFAO

As a teenager my school had one computer, a Commodore Pet, It was only used by Computer Studies staff and students, so that was a total of 17 people.

purplebagladylovesgin · 04/05/2021 08:48

The internet wasn't invented when I was in my teens or even my 20's. The first computer I saw was in a building at the polytechnic and took up a whole room!

Even when I was in my 30's it was a rare occurrence to have home computers, only a handful of people I knew had access to one.

My lovely niece finally sorted my first address out when she got to 13 as she was horrified I didn't use Face book. I was 43 at that time, and yes I still the same address as it's just my name and very boring.

LlamaGiles · 04/05/2021 08:50

Mine was [email protected] Grin

ShirleyPhallus · 04/05/2021 08:51

Me and my friends all had email addresses like
Groovygirl817394
Sexxxyangel0495
PrincessSarah99
PrettiestPrincess0285720
PinkIsTheBestColour101

We all had loads of numbers on the end of ours?!

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2021 08:51

Lol. We had one computer in school and I never went near the 'Computer Room'. I think my first email address was in about 1998 and was very sensible initials/[email protected]

I will never know the cringe of a teenage email address.

LubaLuca · 04/05/2021 08:51

There was no such thing. I didn't see the internet until I was at university, and then it was only as part of a tutor's demonstration in an IT module.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2021 08:53

Today's youth will never know the times when you could use your landline phone or the computer but not both. Or that screechy dial up connection noise.

minipie · 04/05/2021 08:53

The first one I remember using was my dad’s and was something like [email protected] (mid 90s)

Then I think I had a university one
Then a work one
Then the one I have now

VenusClapTrap · 04/05/2021 08:58

No such thing as email addresses in my teens. My first one, in my twenties, was [email protected]. Not an unusual name either, just the early days of these things. My current email address is still .com because it predates .co.uk.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2021 09:00

Some of my friends had access to CB radio Envy they had 'handles', it all seemed very exciting.I imagine they were talking to truck drivers. Confused

80sMum · 04/05/2021 09:04

Personal computers and electronic communication were the stuff of science fiction when I was in my teens!

I had my first email address when I was 40 and it was simply my first name and surname.

ivfbabymomma1 · 04/05/2021 09:07

Coutureprincess@

Xxbabez69xx@

Oh my god cringe

merryhouse · 04/05/2021 09:09

where * are my three initials:

*1 Grin

strictly speaking it was *[email protected] but it wasn't till I was near the end of my first year (and almost out of my teens) that I discovered this.
