does anyone wear bras anymore?

Feel like I'm the last person to discover bralettes and its the most comfy thing ever! How long have people been wearing these/ any particular recommendations or styling tips? Obviously probably more suitable for smaller cup sizes. So nice to not have an underwire digging..

(this sort of thing www.amazon.co.uk/Pieces-Padded-Seamless-Bralette-Sleeping/dp/B07SLZ1Y2T/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=bralette&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1620059248&sr=8-10)

No - I like and need support - those are just souped up vests so it would be like two ferrets trying to escape a sack...

BurbageBrook · 03/05/2021 17:43

I’ve just got into bralettes and vests after falling out of love with bras in lockdown. They’re great! But I’m a B-C cup and quite ‘perky’. Think I might need greater support one day.

merryhouse · 03/05/2021 17:43

I wear bras but almost all of them are not wired.

I’m a large size, so need to wear a properly fitted bra, but if your wires are digging in, your bra doesn’t fit you.

If bralettes work for you, enjoy them!

eeyore228 · 03/05/2021 17:46

It depends on size. I'm an E and there's no way a bralette is going to help me out!

HadToPutTheHeatingOn · 03/05/2021 17:47

I'm 34G so unless it's underwired, it's not happening.

I do think bralettes look really cute though! I'd wear them if I could.

reluctantbrit · 03/05/2021 17:48

I am a G cup., no bra or anything less than properly fitted is a no-go.

Unless I am on my period and my boobs extend for a day I don't even think about wearing one, if it is uncomfortable it most likely doesn't fit properly.

RunHobbitRun · 03/05/2021 17:51

I'm never without a bra.

Proper support for day time. Light support and no wires for nightime. I'm honestly in pain without the support...I'd love smaller breasts.

PaperMonster · 03/05/2021 18:29

I’m an F cup and hate being braless. A supportive, well-fitting bra is so comfy!

sanityisamyth · 03/05/2021 18:30

34J here - scaffolding is compulsory!!

DramaAlpaca · 03/05/2021 18:31

Always!

SnuggyBuggy · 03/05/2021 18:32

I've been in nursing bras for almost 3 years and I've never been so comfy. I'm hoping to find something that feels similar when I've weaned.

toomuchfaster · 03/05/2021 18:34

I got suckered into trying bralettes, what a fucking swizz! Absolutely no where near enough support! Fine if you like them, but absolutely a waste of money for me.

GoddessKali · 03/05/2021 18:37

I must be the odd one out then but I’m a 34 E and only wear bralettes, properly fitted bras feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable!
Even underwire is uncomfortable.
I stopped wearing proper bras about 4 years ago, threw out any underwired bra back then and have never looked back!

Teeshirt · 03/05/2021 18:40

Finding non-underwired bras is really difficult. I once complained to the assistant in John Lewis (pre-Covid), who agreed. I quite like bralettes, but I’d prefer a proper non-underwired one.

Throwntothewolves · 03/05/2021 18:41

I'm with you OP, discovered these in lockdown and much prefer them to bras. I am an A/B cup though so not really in need of a great deal of support

wonkylegs · 03/05/2021 18:50

Bralettes don't work if I move in them, my boobs escape but I'm a 30H
They are more annoying than going braless for me.

ILoveMyMonkey · 03/05/2021 18:59

@GoddessKali me too, 36E and a massive lover of bralettes. Brad just dig in my shoulders and cause neck pain, headaches and rib pain.

I’ve just bought some of the daisy range from next and they are so comfy and, while not as supportive as a proper bra, do hold my boobs up and are solid enough to stop them flapping around when walking about.

On the hunt for a strapless bralette now if anyone has any recommendations.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 03/05/2021 19:04

36DD, they wouldn't be very comfortable for me!

Crappyfridays7 · 03/05/2021 19:06

They are like crop tops I wore as a young teen. No way would that give me any support and I want some structure I’m dd/e so def need a bit of wire

as141 · 03/05/2021 19:08

So mixed opinions!

I am a size C/D but really quite perky (have worn bras all these years as that's all I knew.. but find bralettes make no difference in terms of function as long as I'm not working out (need proper supportive gym bras then!) think I'm onto a new found love :)

Moonface123 · 03/05/2021 19:23

Yes, won't wear anything else but l.dont need much support, mine are like two small satsumas, l sleep in them as well, so comfy you forget your wearing one. Converted my sister as well.

Isababybel · 03/05/2021 20:13

I think i need to purchase these OP! How padded are they, do they fully conceal nips poking through?

24GinDrinkingOnceTheKidsInBed · 03/05/2021 20:25

Hahahahhahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahah.

Bralette. I need a bralarge for my my 30JJ’s. Pain in the ass, NHS won’t reduce me, can’t find a bra anywhere that doesn’t cost as much as my mortgage, I WISH I could wear a bralette.

megletthesecond · 03/05/2021 20:30

Primark sports bras here. Utterly unsuitable for sport but so comfy for daytime and sleep. I have menopausal small ballerina boobs that get amazingly tender at times.
