does anyone wear bras anymore?

Feel like I'm the last person to discover bralettes and its the most comfy thing ever! How long have people been wearing these/ any particular recommendations or styling tips? Obviously probably more suitable for smaller cup sizes. So nice to not have an underwire digging..

(this sort of thing www.amazon.co.uk/Pieces-Padded-Seamless-Bralette-Sleeping/dp/B07SLZ1Y2T/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=bralette&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1620059248&sr=8-10)

I switched to low impact sports bras while pregnant and never looked back. Can’t stand wired bras, so uncomfortable, no matter what I do the straps dig in. I’m a B cup so no real need for wired support

@Isababybel

I think i need to purchase these OP! How padded are they, do they fully conceal nips poking through?
They come in a variable level of padded-ness. I suppose not too dissimilar to sports bras just prettier to look at.

And yes fully conceal nips! To be honest, thats all I need most of the time. Somehow having a bit of your bralette on show feels more acceptable, trendy almost compared to bra (eg backless/low back tops or sheer tops etc I dont actually own of this but have seen it on others) Being able to see any part of someones bra just seems a bit indecent to me personally. Bralettes are cute!

Hahahaha, if only. 34G, so I want underwire and separation thank you! Anything else is sweaty and painful

I don’t own any proper bras anymore and if I wear anything it’s a bralette , most days I don’t bother , although I will in the summer when the tops are a skimpier fabric .

Happycat1212 · 04/05/2021 18:04

Yeh those wouldn’t work for me!

SardineJam · 04/05/2021 18:07

M&S do a range of bralettes for cup sizes DD+, I have been wearing them for about two years and I love them, way more comfortable than a bra and because they are designed for larger breasts, they give the needed support. They are pretty too, not your bog standard boring colours that larger sizes tend to be in

After being pregnant and/or breastfeeding for almost 6 years, me Ds are now As! Grin I’m in love with sloggi cotton crop tops. They are so comfortable and totally sorted out a skin rash I had when wearing synthetic bras. My tiny boobs are super saggy, but so small that I can get away with it.

I did go to m&s for a fitting at the weekends and got some more structured bras, including some very comfortable non wired ones.

At an E cup and 50+ years of age a newsletter isn't going to do anything for me.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 04/05/2021 18:11

🤣 that's just a cropped vest top! No chance is that holding mine up.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/05/2021 18:15

I'm a G cup, I don't have a lot of choice in the matter. Sad

JustGiveMeGin · 04/05/2021 19:12

I'm only a C cup but I believe the term used for mine are tear drop shaped (saggy spaniels ears in layman's terms) so I need some serious padding and underwiring!

museumum · 04/05/2021 19:24

I’m really not convinced they’d offer enough support and I think the risk of monoboob is probably quite high.

TonTonMacoute · 04/05/2021 19:56

Have only worn non-wired bra for years - they do take some hunting out but I have found a few good ones.

A bralette would be ideal but would also be a step too far - unfortunately. My nipples would be down round my knees in no time.
