Mine was chips with loads of garlic mayo. I must have had it several nights a week in uni! Eating after a night out wasn't a thing in my home town so I used to love getting food after a night out!

@Russell19 Jesus - I had no idea! That’s terrible! Yeah he was always nice to me and my friends too but it does make you think!

Sausage and chips from the Chinese, you got 3 chippy style sausages and they were yum

tigerbread20 · 04/05/2021 17:12

Chips, salad and garlic mayo from kebab van. Wasn't the same without the Lettuce, Cucumber and Cabbage. I still treat myself to it sometimes if DH is out as he definitely wouldn't approve

Spicy spuds and garlic sauce. Only one place does it perfectly and I’m drooling thinking of it now, 25 years later 🤤 😋

On arriving home...oven chips smothered with brown sauce, mango chutney and mayo.

Out...chicken shish with garlic mayo and bbq sauce

Fried egg sandwiches when we got home to shared student house.

Reminded me of a club/music venue that used to served only fried egg sandwiches. I vaguely recall Sunday daytimes there being pleasantly mildly drunk/stoned and how good those fried egg butties were. I've just googled and it's long gone Sad

Nearly 40 years ago there was a chip shop on Braunstone Gate in Leicester that sold roast potatoes and gravy. It was in the opposite direction to home but they also sold fags under the counter so it was worth the additional mile or so round trip.
In the opposite direction, at the top of Granby Street, was a chip shop that sold Crofters pie: a scotch pie with the usual outer crust and a piped potato top instead of pastry.
I don't think that I've had a late night post-booze snack since those student days.

I came on to say this! Those salty, spicy roast potatoes 😋 ...and I don’t know what he put in that gravy, but it was bloody amazing. And sadly never to be replicated 😢

Tomato and garlic pizza from the Kismet kebab house in Cottingham. Or a kebab with all the toppings.
Or chips with some kind of spice with garlic mayo from the van outside the Tower on Wednesday night.
I am drooling just thinking about them!

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 04/05/2021 18:52

Pizza or cheesy garlic bread or occasionally a kebab from The Godfather in Blackburn. Happy pissed up days.

ODFOx · 04/05/2021 18:53

Chips and curry sauce
Salt and pepper chicken 'special' which was chicken, rice (or rice and chips) and curry sauce. Amazing.
Sometimes a spicy pepperoni pizza or kebab meat with extra sauce.

ArosGartref · 04/05/2021 19:37

Chicken curry off the bone and chips
Dorothy's in chippy lane - iconic.

Lozza70 · 04/05/2021 19:47

Chips, stuffing(proper northern Irish stuffing) and gravy so thick you could cut it with a knife! With vinegar. How I miss it....

Sailor2009 · 04/05/2021 20:05

Deep fried haggis and chips. Or a pizza crunch and chips.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 04/05/2021 20:24

I used to love a peshwari naan which came with butter and honey on it . I used to stand in the queue for the student union eating it. Lush.

Then once I left Uni I moved in next door to an Indian restaurant so I used to buy a meal (rice, naan, bhajis, chicken passanda) and eat half that night and save half for the next night. Slurp.
