Starting this thread as I need a distraction - one of our beloved bunnies died on Sunday 🐇❤️He was really poorly but we were hoping he would turn a corner. I would feel a bit better if he was old but he was only 3, bless him. We’re keeping a close eye on his mate & hoping to adopt a buck from the RSPCA. I’m sitting in glorious sunshine on the front step, thinking that a week ago I was doing the same thing & then I discovered that our bun bun was ill. Just finished reading a “ Miss Read” book. I read quite a few of her novels some years ago & enjoyed them, so I might order a few from the library. DD12 is on the laptop, looking at Shein clothes. She could start her own shop but still wants more! The trouble is a lot of her stuff is piled up in wash baskets or in our room so she doesn’t know how much she’s got. I need a trip to the charity shop as you can get 4 items for £1. DD has had her tea & I’m making pasta bake ( well, using a Dolmio carbonara sauce) for me & DH later. He’s just got back from a long bike ride. Not much on tv so might research a box set on Netflix. Recommendations welcome! We recently watched The Queen’s Gambit & before that The Crown.

My husband has a bad cold; the tumble drier isn’t working and an engineer came out this morning; we also had an electrician here this afternoon as half the sockets weren’t working. My DH left the sprinkler on too long and the lower half of the lawn is flooded. Although he doesn’t feel well he is cooking supper and has chosen a very complicated recipe.

aibutohavethisusername · 27/04/2021 18:55

Waiting for dinner to cook. Seems to be taking ages. OH is playing football manager on the PC.

badlydrawnbear · 27/04/2021 18:57

We have a surveyor coming first thing tomorrow to our house which is usually an absolute tip, so DC1 is tidying her room, DC2 is playing minecraft, DH is cleaning the bathroom and I am about to vacuum before putting DC to bed then finishing attempting to do something vaguely functional with our bedroom and making DCs' packed lunches for tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your bunny. We have had them in the past but not these days. We have hares now, but they are wild. Certainly not mad with rage or livid, just a bit frisky at the moment and they tend to race around in circles trying to mate. They come off the field and into the garden and across the drive. When the sun shines it heats the stone and they lie there basking in the sun.

It is raining here now. Not much though. More a light spray but the first we have had in two months. The moisture will stick the earth a little and we are surrounded by 200 hectares of soil that has yet to be sown and tilled down. The cold draft that has been hitting us from the north for the last two weeks has deposited a thin powder of dust on the cars and gently filmed the windows. If it lasts much longer I will not need to draw the curtains on my zoom or teams calls. I yearn to get out and put some plants down, but if this cold, dry spell lasts much longer they will just wither. It is like Interstellar with wings this Spring.

The jacket potatoes are in the oven and a spicy ratatouille will go with them plus some green beans and some grated cheese. We did not have a joint on Sunday and there is nothing to go with it, but we will eat less meat now. When we do it will be local and better quality. The hares are safe though. We will fit around them, not the other way.

As I walk to the post box to collect my mail, I taste the dust in the back of my throat. It reminds me of a dry Rioja. Maybe this is a sign. We should be growing vines here now with climate change. I will start the brand tomorrow. I will call it Three Hares Vineyard.

There were no letters today. That's three days running, but I get much more online now. A line of seagulls fly overheard. They are below the cloud and they are silent as they head to their evening feeding grounds. They head with purpose. I wonder if the one in front has a greater purpose than the ones behind. Then I wonder why I am even wondering this.

FindingMeno · 27/04/2021 19:02

Got roasted veg in the oven waiting for the dcs to get home, then I'll do sea bass to go with it.
Towels are in the tumble drier and I've not long had a nice bubble bath so I'm in my dressing gown.
I'm debating washing up quickly as dh did himself ham, egg and chips as he doesn't like fish.
It's pretty quiet apart from the tumble drier and air purifier so I'm enjoying it while I can.

HaNNaHC92 · 27/04/2021 19:03

I'm having a lie down for 20 minutes. I'm 39+3w pregnant with my 3rd baby, so I've left OH in charge so I can take a small break. I can hear our 3yr old son and 19m old daughter having a whale of a time downstairs with him, chuckling at goodness knows what, but it's the best sound. I'm led here thinking how much better it'll be again when their sibling is here too, despite knowing how hectic it's going to be any day now.

SecretWitch · 27/04/2021 19:05

Having a cup of cinnamon tea whilst listening to my husband and daughter hash out her maths.

I’m so sorry you lost your sweet bunny💐

QforCucumber · 27/04/2021 19:12

Sat on a chair in baby ds room waiting for him to whinge himself to sleep (not cry, just make noises, he gets cross if picked up) he's 10 months and had a busy day at nursery.

Dh is downstairs sorting the kitchen after dinner, other ds(5) is watching lego masters waiting for me to shout him up for his bedtime story.

Its quite nice to sit here in the dark listening to ds humming and clear my head.

Lifeisnotadressrehearsal7 · 27/04/2021 19:13

myoctopusfeature you write beautifully. Have you considered starting a blog or even a novel?

Today I've had an old fashioned Spring clean of my bedroom. Every cupboard, drawer, wardrobe, armoires (it's a big room) and the en-suite. I've been brutal and given away around 60% of my clothes. Have two enormous bin bags of recycling too.
Walked the dogs twice in the sunshine and caught up with a couple of friends. Then this evening I've watched The Pembrokeshire Murders drama and curled my hair at the same time.
Quite a satisfying day.

LudoBear · 27/04/2021 19:24

Sitting on my sofa watching the soaps whilst eating a salted caramel pancake & searching the interwebs for a seaside themed melamine dinner set.

Live on my own.

hiredandsqueak · 27/04/2021 19:34

Ds3 is waiting for ds2 to come and pick him up as they are going to their Dad's house to watch the football. Dd2 is needlefelting and eating Rich Tea biscuits. I'm on MN and browsing Loungefly backpacks as dd1 wants one for her birthday.

Elderflower14 · 27/04/2021 19:36

Sitting down waiting for the Chelsea match to start! I have a bottle of Crabbies in the fridge some Giant Wotsits and some chocolate to nibble on!!

Thesagacontinues · 27/04/2021 19:42

Sorry to hear about your bunny.

I will be off to bed in a minute. Have a migraine and tablets are taking the edge off but an early night is definitely required.

TagsMum · 27/04/2021 19:47

Big hugs, loosing a pet is so difficult.

I am currently sorting laundry/messing on my phone in my bedroom whilst DH baths the littlest, middle child is tidying her bedroom and eldest is watching tv downstairs.

SimonJT · 27/04/2021 19:52

Sorry to hear about your bunny.

My little boy is finally asleep, I’m currently the dogs mattress, my husband is out for a run, when he gets back we’re going to start a new jigsaw puzzle, its a zelda one which is quite exciting.

Inclinedtochatter · 27/04/2021 19:56

DH is watching Forged in Fire which is basically people making swords and knifes in a bid to win $10,000. I've just had a shower and I'm stealth eating his orange smarties. DS 17 is upstairs playing FIFA on his Xbox by the sound of it.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 27/04/2021 20:33

The kids are messing around instead of going to bed. I'm pretending not to hear them; it's nice to listen to. They're pushing their luck by getting closer to the sitting room though...

DH is getting his pyjamas on. I'm ahead of him by an hour. We're going to watch Hot Fuzz and eat doughnuts when the kids finally settle.

One cat is asleep on her heated mat, as always. The other is sitting on the sitting room window sill, watching the birds having supper in the beech tree. The chickens have put themselves to bed, except the hen and chicks in the sitting room; the chicks haven't settled into a proper day and night cycle yet, much like human newborns. They go quiet for a few minutes and you think they've conked out but then a little head pokes out of the hen's armpit and the cheeping starts up again. The ferrets will be getting up shortly for their evening play.

Eyevorbig0ne · 27/04/2021 20:49

Partner in bath
DD in room
I'm watching the inbetweeners whilst finding much in common with an autistic meme group on Facebook. They are me👍

H1978 · 27/04/2021 21:24

Just opened our fasts under and hour ago and cleared the kitchen. Will be going up to bed as soon as we’ve prayed as we have to be up again for 215am.

MondeoFan · 27/04/2021 22:06

Watching The Crown on Netflix. Season One, Episode 8.
Tired from work but still managing to keep my eyes open just about. Dog asleep on the floor, youngest DD in bed, eldest DD doing homework in her room.
I fancy a cup of tea but think it's too late

Timeisavirtue · 27/04/2021 22:15

I’ve just finished watching the football (chelsea fan) my mum is watching tv in her room, kids are in bed and DP just got in from work so is making himself food.

UniversitySerf · 28/04/2021 00:55

Just watched an episode of Line of Duty, DH is now doing a 30 mins of work even though it’s almost 1am. I’m on MN in bed with hot milk. Its the high life here.

Elderflower14 · 28/04/2021 15:56

@Timeisavirtue

I’ve just finished watching the football (chelsea fan) my mum is watching tv in her room, kids are in bed and DP just got in from work so is making himself food.
I'm very happy with the result. A win would have been great but we have the away goal advantage!!
Irishterrier · 28/04/2021 16:52

I'm lying on the bed next to my sleeping dog.

DS1 is doing homework in his bedroom, DS2 is reading in the sitting room, and DH is making a pasta sauce for supper in the kitchen. I can smell the frying onions.

I have a day off today and have been very busy til so am taking the chance to put my feet up briefly.
