Or is it something after a while you take for granted?

20 mins drive, (Dymchurch) - once a year if that.

EllaPaella · 25/04/2021 18:29

I live a 5 minute walk from the seafront and go at least once a day sometimes twice to walk the dog. I have young kids and we go to the beach at least once over the weekend.
We love to paddle board, sea swim, body board and surf and do that all year round not just in summer.

Minniem2020 · 25/04/2021 18:34

I live a 5 minute walk from a couple of beaches and within a 10 minute drive fo some others. We occasionally go for a walk along the seafront but the last time I spent a day at the beach was 2 years ago on holiday in Spain

Bobbiebigbum · 25/04/2021 18:38

Yes. Live 15 minutes from the sea. Go at least once a week. Dog walk, jog or playing with the children on sand Dunes. Never ever take it for granted.

Dreamingofthesea · 25/04/2021 18:39

I have lived by the sea for eight years. I’ve never taken it for granted. I go as often as I can, I’m still completely obsessed and it’s been the one constant source of normality during the pandemic. I get a bit twitchy if I’ve not seen the sea for a few days due to work commitments.

Cocoaone · 25/04/2021 18:39

15 min walk from our closest beach, 5 min drive to at least 2 others.
We walk along the cliffs or on the prom at least a few times a week with the dog. I absolutely love it - the view, the sound of the sea, feeling utterly insignificant against the vastness of it.

But I rarely spend the day 'at' the beach. I find it boring and when the weather is nice, it's too busy. But I love being 'beside' the seaside Smile

TheMoth · 25/04/2021 18:40

30 minutes-2 hours, depending on beach. But you can't get near them from April onwards because the roads are nuts. Takes a hell of a long time to get home from work on Fridays too. I think there needs to be a special lane for those of us who work in England and live in Wales, so we can get home.

earnshaw47 · 25/04/2021 18:46

we live in Southport, the tide does not come in very often so we dont see the sea a lot anyway,

godmum56 · 25/04/2021 18:51

I rarely go. beaches here are crap and very busy.

HarrietOh · 25/04/2021 18:54

I’m 5min walk from the sand and I absolutely love the beach and love living by the sea.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/04/2021 18:57

@insancerre

No, it’s too windy and sandy
This!
Claire4567 · 25/04/2021 18:58

300 metres from the water. Just need a periscope and we could see the sea from our garden....

Go for a walk probably twice a week. I grew up by the sea so it feels like coming home.

meetthewildes · 25/04/2021 19:02

About a fifteen minute walk. We swam until November, the children have been wading in to waist-high since about a month ago and will probably be up past their shoulders in the next few weeks! We visit every weekend, often both days, and would go far more frequently if I didn’t work full time. We absolutely LOVE the sea.

JaninaDuszejko · 25/04/2021 19:05

I grew up on a Scottish island and we went to the coast regularly, TBF there's not much else to do. Now when we go for holidays there with the DC we go every third day or so for 'a day at the beach' but you can't avoid seeing the sea. My family who live there will go to the coast every couple of weeks maybe but a lot of that is just for walks not 'a day at the beach'. DH dispairs of me because I am so used to empty beaches I don't really like going to busy touristy beaches near where we live now.

Supermum29 · 25/04/2021 19:06

We moved a bit further away pre lockdown but before moving the beach was at the end of our road. We’d go frequently even if just for a walk along the seafront into town.

If we do bother to go, we go to Formby. It's much nicer than Southport, I think.
MixedUpFiles · 25/04/2021 19:12

When I lived at the seaside I hardly ever went despite or being a short walk from my house. Far too packed with tourists. I only lived there because it was close to work. If I wanted to go to the beach I would drive up the coast to where it was quieter.

Wallyandasnog · 25/04/2021 19:13

I've just lived within 200m of the beach for the last 14 years. Walk the prom a fair bit. Probably been rock pooling ten times and my mate has a beach hut so spent the afternoon with her a handful of times.

Girlintheframe · 25/04/2021 19:14

We live 20 mins away from the beach and go minimum once a week.

LuluJakey1 · 25/04/2021 19:22

At least 5 times a week. We walk on the beaches .About 5 minutes from our house.

EventOfTheSeason · 25/04/2021 19:22

I live a 20 min walk from the beach and go about once a week. It was very handy with lockdown and being stuck within the city boundaries with a 5 year old.

PurBal · 25/04/2021 19:24

My dad has a flat that overlooks the sea. He hasn't been to the seaside for over a year. DH and I prefer to go in the winter when there are fewer people around and he can cold water swim.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 25/04/2021 19:25

200m away. I was paddling in the sea with dc1 yesterday. We usually go 3 times a week or more. Went every day during the lockdowns.

motherofadog · 25/04/2021 19:27

Most of the beaches here are crowded in the summer and there's a dog ban. I go to them all the time in the winter but hardly ever in the summer unless it's for a social event. I prefer the fields and woods.

Bobbi73 · 25/04/2021 19:34

I live about 20 minute walk away and go regularly. It's not sand, it's pebbles but in some ways that makes it easier. I absolutely love living near the beach. In the summer when I finish work, I love going for an early evening swim with the kids. It's great.
I never take it for granted.
