You?

I’ve never lived alone. Parents, halls at uni, shared house at uni and then boyfriend (now husband). 32 years old.

Seeline · 24/04/2021 10:55

Same. I went to uni, but moved back to my parents as I hadn't got a job straightaway. Then got a local job, so didn't seem worth finding my own place. Got on well with my parents, paid rent.

SleepingStandingUp · 24/04/2021 10:56

I think if you don't go to Uni and have a decent familial relationship this is increasingly common so renting is so expensive
I went from home to Uni then home, only lived alone for 12 months but when I was back home it was full share of bills and DP both worked nights so we often only saw each other weekends. DH loved alone for a similar period before we cohabited

DIshedUp · 24/04/2021 10:57

Surely this is relatively normal? I lived on my own for a year but thats it really.
Parents, uni, shared house, 1 year alone (which was boring), DP. Most of my friends either did parents, shared, partner or parents, partner.

FelicityPike · 24/04/2021 10:57

I went from parent to ex to parents to DH.

InDubiousBattle · 24/04/2021 10:58

I went from family home to uni,so halls and shared houses, then moved in with dp straight after uni, so I've never lived alone.

MissSmiley · 24/04/2021 10:59

I was only thinking about this the other day, home to uni, then flat shares, then DH, separated 4 years and live with my teenagers now but I've never lived on my own

TheChosenTwo · 24/04/2021 10:59

I’ve never lived alone. Bloody dream about it sometimes though Grin

MissSmiley · 24/04/2021 11:00

I was specifically thinking that I've never lived with another man other than DH (for 20 years) and was wondering what it would be like

Tlollj · 24/04/2021 11:01

I’ve only just recently started living alone. With parents, then married, children still at home. Last one left about 18 months ago. I’m 57.

forrestgreen · 24/04/2021 11:02

I'm now living alone at 50. Parents to my married home, now getting divorced. Very odd feeling

Gothichouse40 · 24/04/2021 11:08

I lived alone from the age of 17 till 21. Till I got married.

FishyFriday · 24/04/2021 11:13

I've never lived alone. But I have been the only adult in the house (single parent).

LindaEllen · 24/04/2021 11:13

I've never lived alone, but I think it's quite normal - unless you get divorced and own a house that you can remain in.

When I met DP I was actually saving up for a house and I did plan to buy one and move in, so I would have lived alone, but then I met DP and ended up moving in with him instead, then we got a better house together.

hilariousnamehere · 24/04/2021 11:16

More or less always :) uni shared houses, back to parents for a bit, a year with my best friend and lived alone ever since (10 years now). I won't share my home until retirement now, with my other best friend Grin I like my space too much!

Silverfly · 24/04/2021 11:17

I've never lived alone. Parents, uni accommodation, shared flats with friends, moved in with DH.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/04/2021 11:18

Home, halls, shared houses, DH.

I do spend long periods with DH working away, so it's just me and DDs if that counts...

Hellocatshome · 24/04/2021 11:19

Parents, Uni Halls, Uni shared flat, DH. Never lived alone. DH took the kids on holiday for a week by himself when I couldn't have time off work. I was by myself for a week and hated it.

insancerre · 24/04/2021 11:19

I’ve never lived alone
Went from parents to living with DH at 20
I don’t really want to think about living on my own

Maggiesfarm · 24/04/2021 11:19

Yes and I liked it very much.

Horehound · 24/04/2021 11:20

Yes I have. My parents moved abroad when I was 15 and I refused to go....kind of regret that. Anyway, finishing school I lived with my grandparents then for college me and my brother lived together but we really didn't get on.
So my parents bought a flat and I lived in that by myself for a few years prob around 18-20 and also had a wee stint around 25 in another flat on my own.

Thinking back, I quite enjoyed living on my own!

kickergoes · 24/04/2021 11:21

No, although have been the only adult for months due to DH's work taking him away.

I hope I never have to, the thought of living alone fills me with dread.

SelkieIntegrated · 24/04/2021 11:23

not yet, but I'm a single parent so I'm hoping my DC move out one day. 18 and 15 so won't be for a while but I certainly do not dread it!

NicolaDunsire · 24/04/2021 11:23

I would say it’s fairly normal, a lot of my friends went from uni to shared houses to living with a partner. I did.

QueenPaw · 24/04/2021 11:24

I've never lived with anyone else so I'm the opposite! (except in uni halls)
Lived alone for 18 years now
