Which gin option

Bought a friend a gin shelf and glasses for her birthday and Intend to give her four bottle of flavoured gin to put on it.

Question is:

Would you prefer four totally different flavours and makes of gin or
4 bottles of Whitley Neil flavoured gin in same bottles but different colours?

Too much time on my hands I know!!!!

I am a gin purist and would be happy with Gordon's, Tanquery, Bombay Sapphire, Blooms.

Maybe someone-else I'll be along with flavoured recommendations...

Kezzie200 · 23/04/2021 19:15

I prefer a good gin and add mixers.

My choices would be Botanist, Adnams Copperhouse, Tanquery Savilla (that is lightly orange flavour).

My very favourite gin ever came from Craft Gin Club and was called Pienaar. In a bottle with yellow text. I think they sell it online in their store but it sells out fast.

Is she like flavoured gin? Some people (including me) don't.

I'd just buy her what she likes! For me this would be Roku (beautiful bottle too), Silent Pool or Brecon.

The Drop store have some amazing deals on gin bundles if you are buying a few bottles.

No, no, no.

I'm with Bearnecessity. I would prefer 4 different makes of gin. No to flavoured gin. If your friend really likes gin she would probaby prefer proper gin flavoured gin rather than lemon sherbet or rhubard gin.

IMO flavoured gin is for people who don't like gin.

Is she like flavoured gin???? What???

I meant DOES SHE LIKE flavoured gin!?!

delilahbucket · 23/04/2021 19:24

Four different gins and I would avoid the flavoured ones unless you know she drinks them. Craft Gin Club is an excellent place to buy unique gins, a lot of them in beautiful bottles. 31dover often have good deals on too.

iklboo · 23/04/2021 19:25

I like flavoured gin. I also like Old Tom, London Dry, Navy Proof gins. It depends on my mood. My favourites are

Zymurgorium
Thomas Dakin
Silent Pool
Ophir
Whitley Neill original
King of Soho
Botanist

clpsmum · 23/04/2021 19:28

Thanks everyone! I'm with you I like a gin flavoured gin too but it's the flavoured ones that she drinks

If she likes flavoured ones I'd probably get

Malfi lemon
Malfi blood orange
Whitley Neill Raspberry
Whitley Neill blackberry

CosmicComfort · 23/04/2021 19:51

If you wanted flavoured gins I’d get Malfy pink grapefruit
Tanqueray Sevilla
Aber falls rhubarb and ginger
Isle of wight mermaid pink gin

RobinHumphries · 23/04/2021 21:22

Tarquins strawberry and lime
Tarquins rhubarb and raspberry

DungeonKeeper · 23/04/2021 22:14

Bathtub gin is DH’s favourite. Can’t stand gin myself so can’t comment!

TheTestOfTime · 23/04/2021 22:24

Slingsby marmalade gin is the nicest gin that I’ve tried and has an attractive bottle. I also like Copper House pink gin. I like flavoured gins but only lightly flavoured/not too sweet.

clpsmum · 23/04/2021 22:34

@DungeonKeeper I tried bathtub for the first time last week and really enjoyed it

Whitley Neil is basically squash! Don't buy it.

DefinatelyMaybee · 23/04/2021 22:58

Gin Queen here -
Aber Falls Marmalade Gin
Three Wrens Apple Crumble Gin (sublime)
JK Whitley Pink Cherry
Tarquins Cornish Gin Hibiscus and Lemon

You're welcome ;-)

WaterBottle123 · 23/04/2021 23:02

@DefinatelyMaybee !!
No!! Those are all fruit liqueurs, basically squash.

OP:

Pink Pepper
Stranger and Sons
Elephant
Dragon Fly

Do not indulge your friend's love for poor quality fruity nonsense

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 23/04/2021 23:09

JJ Whitley cherry
Wildcat lime

DefinatelyMaybee · 23/04/2021 23:11

@waterbottle123 if you say so - the alcohol content tells me they are not fruit liqueurs which are 20% alcohol. Flavoured yes, poor quality absolutely not. The Whitley is a bit frou frou but goes brilliantly with ginger ale. I concur with Elephant but it is very strong, I liked it but not everyone's cuppa.
I prefer Winchester Twisted Nose

DefinatelyMaybee · 23/04/2021 23:13

I've just necked the last of my 3 Wrens Crumble 40% proof gin, another on order, it's absolutely not a liquer ...hic

MiddleClassProblem · 23/04/2021 23:15

Slingsby Gooseberry and Aber Falls marmalade are on my “to get list” after having them in an advent calendar this Christmas. It had other flavoured ones that were not so good.

WaterBottle123 · 23/04/2021 23:16

@DefinatelyMaybee

Ooo yes Twisted nose is excellent

DefinatelyMaybee · 23/04/2021 23:17

Gooseberry sounds nice, will look that up :-) I first had Aber Marmalade a few years ago when up near the Welsh border , loved it and buy it regularly
