Thanks everyone, I love this thread. It's definitely keeping me sane. DD has stayed asleep enough for me to go in the tub and eat biscuits (separately that is) Currently on the sofa and all the pets are snuggled in so that's nice.

Glad the GP has helped @anurulz.

Hope you all feel better and you get some sleep tonight @squishymama.

Chocolatetrifle · 16/06/2021 17:47

Ugh, feel like a bit of a rubbish mum, DS2 has a blister on his finger after plunging it into a hot croquette potato at tea, he was crying for ages which upset DS1 who hates seeing him cry then he got sick from the upset Sad.

squishymamma · 16/06/2021 18:18

@Chocolatetrifle I hear you, we have a new cordless hoover and I hit DS really hard in the back of the head with it today. For the second time. Then he slipped and fell on the wet floor because I was mopping. You're not a rubbish mum, we're just doing the best we can Smile hope his blister is better soon!

Been a bit quiet on here today eh? We had a nightmare of a bedtime last night, DS was overtired so pretty much screamed for an hour straight, especially when I made it clear the boob was not an option...

Fortunately it went much better tonight. Hoping he stays asleep so I can actually get some rest!!

Hope you all have a good night.

You are definitely not a rubbish mum @chocolatetrifle it's just one of those things.

Bedtime isn't go well here, both bedtimes for me. DD is just not going to sleep, either asking for drinks or fake sneezing and asking for a tissue. She's now singing away. At least she's not screaming I guess

Motherofmonsters · 16/06/2021 19:53

She's now lying on her back counting, apparently she can count to 10? I would be more impressed if I haven't been sat here for nearly two hours, go to sleep!!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 16/06/2021 20:13

@Chocolatetrifle last night DS was dicking about at bedtime.and jumped vertically out of bed Confused landing on the crown of his head. That was fun to explain at preschool!

Twins still screaming next door. Eurgh, I give up!

There is hope though! DD1 is 6yo. Today she got 10/10 on her spelling test, ate her dinner sensibly, got herself ready for bed, quietly reading chapter book with DH. They do turn into functional humans.... in time 😰

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 16/06/2021 20:14

@Motherofmonsters I feel you! The singing can be more infuriating than the screaming.

Mummy0220 · 16/06/2021 20:18

Must remember this post is here when I'm having a breakdown putting my boys to bed 🙈
Or just in general having a bad day with them both.
They are 13 months apart so it can be a nightmare. One doesn't like the dark and the other won't fall asleep unless me or his dad are in the room. (I'm slowly trying to break him of this but it's trail and error)
Thankfully tonight was easy I put the eldest down, DH was downstairs with the youngest and he text saying he was falling asleep so brought him up and I'm watching his monitor as he slowly drops off. The other one was already asleep when they came up. Tonight was a good night. Tonight was a rare one 😂
Good luck to all those not having a lucky night x

Chocolatetrifle · 16/06/2021 21:28

Thanks everyone, DS2 recovered from his potato incident and I don't feel quite so negligent now.
It's been a positive day despite the potato incident as DS1 had another morning in preschool and enjoyed it. He ran in without even saying 'bye'.
I've got my soothing foot socks on with peppermint in, literally my favourite thing at the moment (my 20 year old self would surely laugh)and all is quiet upstairs.

Hope everyone has a decent night's sleep.

Chocolatetrifle · 17/06/2021 08:11

Morning, how is everyone? We were all.up at 5.30 today, ugh.

What are plans for the day? .

No preschool here today so need to get my entertaining hat on but feel a bit under the weather. DS2 already having a little nap and DS1 wants to play shop with the tins.

Hope everyone has a good day.

squishymamma · 17/06/2021 08:39

Good morning! DS was up at 4.45am, but DH took him and I got to sleep until 6.30am (my pre-kids wakeup for work) which was heavenly. DH has now gone back to bed (the joys of being a student - he's finishing off his masters) so I don't feel too sorry for him. DS is in nursery and I'm working all day. Hope you feel better soon, @Chocolatetrifle.

Hope everyone got some sleep in the end, @Chocolatetrifle and @JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff! 6 years old feels like a long time away...especially as one DC isn't even earthside yet...but definitely something to cling to in the hard days.

@Mummy0220 congrats on last night!! Right here celebrating with you, it's the best feeling when everything goes so smoothly.

squishymamma · 17/06/2021 08:40

Argh this tagging nonsense - meant to say I hope you got some sleep, @Motherofmonsters Grin blaming it on my mobile

Motherofmonsters · 17/06/2021 08:44

Morning! Okay night here, DD woke up a few times but settled quickly.
No preschool so also need to muster some energy. I've made a village on the floor out of the fireman Sam playsets, happyland zoo and a farm set we have. Seems to be keeping them amused for the minute.
I've got a big order of next jeans turning up later as all of mine have disintegrated. I hate buying them as they never look exactly right but I can't not wear any.

PinkDaydreams · 17/06/2021 10:45

@Motherofmonsters I hate jeans shopping! I'm currently on a mix of next and believe it or not Asda!

Post office this morning then the supermarket to get something for tea tonight. Read some books then back out to the museum then home for lunch. I feel like we've done a full days worth of activities in just a morning! I think I may walk down to the park and feed the ducks as apparently there's a storm on the way so tomorrow is meant to be miserable weather wise!

Oh also attempted to make a father's Day card but son wasn't interested in gluing and sticking at all or the pencils, he preferred to line the pencils up and count them! Does anyone elses toddlers not seem to be interested in drawing or painting or general crafty stuff?

OP posts:
Motherofmonsters · 17/06/2021 14:10

@pinkdaydreams DS is totally uninterested the best I get is taking a pencil and drawing a mess as fast as he can. He's nearly 4 and has done the same thing forever. I don't think he can see the point in it..

We've been to a 'ready for school' session with DS. It was music themed so DS was totally uninterested, they gave him some play doh to fiddle with so he just played with that. They showed as a phonic soup game that they do. Basically get a load of objects in a bowl and then a letter card. Really exaggerate the letter and then stir the soup and tip out the objects. Pick one up and say what it is exaggerating the first letter and ask if it starts with the original letter.

Chocolatetrifle · 17/06/2021 21:52

@PinkDaydreams DS1 used to like arty things a bit, if I get a glitter tube out he just tips the whole thing anywhere except on the glue bit. DS2 still has some glitter on his head from when he tipped some on his head about 2 months ago despite washing his hair everyday it is stuck on probably for evermore. DS1 might do a quick drawing with some paint sticks or a pencil every now and again but it's literally there it's done, now what's next? Then he will run off to do something else or will snap the crayons in half. He will be 4 in Oct. I don't bother as much now!

@Motherofmonsters that sounds an interesting game they did there. My DS1 has obviously just started preschool, did you find they did much phonic work with them at your DS's?

Hope everyone has a good night sleep and a lie in beyond 5 or 5.30. It's been a long day.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 17/06/2021 21:55

The twins' names begin with H and F and today they randomly discovered a manhole cover on our street that has those letters embossed on. DS was actually lying down on his tummy on the pavement with his nose about an inch away. I think he thought it was a sign 🤣

Motherofmonsters · 17/06/2021 22:23

@chocolatetrifle I have no idea, if I ask DS what he's done he just says he can't remember. I don't think they do a lot as I got the impression today they don't expect them to know any. She said it takes them a while to understand the soup game.

Motherofmonsters · 17/06/2021 22:24

That's brilliant! @johnnymcgrathcanfuckoff

Chocolatetrifle · 18/06/2021 08:05

dS1 didn't get the memo and was wide awake and up for the day at 5. I'm sensing a McDonald's car picnic may be on the cards this morning.

Chocolatetrifle · 18/06/2021 08:13

One for younger DC perhaps, DS2 18 months likes this book plus the car can go round the track too so double entertainment.

Trapped toddler parents:"Where else can you post tuff tray pictures and moan about your husband?"
squishymamma · 18/06/2021 08:43

Morning all!

DS was also up at 5am so I'm hitting the coffee hard today. McDonalds sounds amazing @Chocolatetrifle, now I want one...and that book looks great. I need to up my book game.

He's not so keen on art at the moment, he mostly enjoys eating the crayons. We made a Father's Day card last year where I put plain card and some paint in a plastic bag taped to the floor and he just squished it around...not a masterpiece, and he was mainly trying to get the bag off the floor, but DH really appreciated it. I have fond memories of craft time with my stepmum so hoping he finds it interesting after a while!

Tonight we're having some friends over for pizza...DS never sleeps well when there are other people here. Both looking forward to seeing people (some for the first time in over a year!) and slightly dreading it...

PinkDaydreams · 18/06/2021 09:33

@squishymamma enjoy your pizza night, must say I'm rather jealous as pizza is my favourite take away!

I can also recommend the book @Chocolatetrifle has posted, son receives the tractor one for Xmas and he loves it!

Must be something in the air as my DS was awake at 4, although he's got a cold that won't seem to go away. I'm regularly covid testing him and thank goodness they're negative! His gunky eyes have now cleared up which I'm glad about.

Any plans for today? Weather is dry here but rather cloudy. It'll probably be a trip to the park again today, not the same one as yesterday. Also got to do a food shop as well, I always do a medium sized shop on a Friday and top up as and when needed through the week. Notice I say medium and not big shop, I can't fit much on the pram 😂
