There is a lot of croup going round where we are atm.

Argh! Just posted a thread in Parenting as totally losing my marbles. 1h 10min tonight which involved both of them "needing a poo" about a million times, shouting and laughing. DS really got my goat tonight by smacking my bottom when I was bending over DD2 cot and then laughing and doing one of his spit-raspberries in my face when I told him off. I've been ill the last couple of days and had to work through it, and just don't have the emotional energy to deal with having my arse smacked Sad

Whoever said about the neighbours hearing, God yes! I keep thinking someone will hear my cross voice or DS crying because he's been told off for spitting and call SS or something Sad

God! Bloody toddlers/ preschoolers!!!!

Motherofmonsters · 08/06/2021 20:41

Still feeling a bit rubbish about it tbh, DHs walk with him was a disaster to so he's also struggling with him. DD has woken up screaming so that's fun. Think my sister has realised I'm stressed and has invited me out for a walk and coffee tomorrow while DS is at Preschool. Sorry you've had the fighting and screaming to.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 08/06/2021 20:45

@Motherofmonsters I get it, I really do. I just keep thinking, how do they have so little respecr for me? I love them, hug them, give them lovely toys and clothes, think about them and miss them when I'm not with them, and make all their food and do all their personal care. I set firm boundaries and routines and look after them.

So why the feck can't they listen???? It makes you feel so ignored and downtrodden, doesn't it.

I read somewhere once that they play up for those they love and trust the most.

It's hard to be entertainer, referee, motivator, organiser everyday. Some days it's enough just to get through the day. No one is perfect and we all struggle at times ( a lot of the time).

Here's hoping tomorrow is a much better and calmer day.

Chocolatetrifle · 08/06/2021 21:45

Just found a Magnum in the freezer, eaten it and don't even care!

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff, that sounds so hard trying to get both to settle at the same time. Here my DS2 goes asleep an hour before DS1 at the moment. My DS1 is a few months older than yours at 3.8. I have to sit next to his bed until he goes asleep.

Hard for you if both are chatting away at the same time etc. Is it possible they are not tired at 7 to 7.15? How about a bit more time to burn energy before starting bedtime? The light nights don't help either. What about if you put on some kind of audiobook or something calming for them to listen to and try to settle too? What happens if you leave them to it? Will they settle eventually themselves? Bedtime is so stressful I think. Hope someone can give you some good ideas and things which might help x

Chocolatetrifle · 09/06/2021 07:59

How are you feeling today? @Motherofmonsters

Motherofmonsters · 09/06/2021 09:02

Still feeling a bit mopey about it all although DD didn't sleep, it's very grey out and I'm due on so that's probably not helping. Had a little win though, on my way to meet my sister I'm early so stopped at McDonalds for a bacon flatbread and when I got to the walk they've given me a mcmuffin meal.

drumst1ck · 09/06/2021 09:39

Morning all! Catching up on everything I've missed, congrats @squishymamma! Sounds like a lovely age gap they will have, it will be great!

We're back home from visiting the in laws. Had a lovely time but I'm glad to be back in my own space. Nothing like your own bed! DD has suddenly started learning lots of new words so it's been fun hearing her running around shouting baaaaallll and buuubbles at the top of her voice. Tantrums seemed to have calmed down a little as well which is great.

I'm curious as to what age you all potty trained? She's started telling me when she's done a poo and the other day was pulling at her nappy and walked straight to the toilet and wanted to sit on it. Nothing happened which is absolutely fine but I'm definitely not ready to potty train at 20 months, seems a bit young!

Got DS first jabs today so hopefully he isn't too upset by them, sleeps been bad enough without adding in extra fussiness!

Hope you're all enjoying the lovely weather. Paddling pool has been out, doing lots of weeding and lots of plans to get the garden in shape for summer.

squishymamma · 09/06/2021 20:10

How is everything going, @Motherofmonsters and @JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff? I didn't have chance to respond yesterday but I did read your messages and was sending support mentally! I love McMuffin meals, but I never make it there for breakfast time. We had lunch there today though which was yum!

@drumst1ck thanks! Glad you had a good time with your in laws. Hope DS is alright and sleeps well. I've never potty trained Grin but I read somewhere that if they can follow simple instructions, start hiding away when peeing/pooing and start wanting to be changed immediately after then they're developmentally ready. No idea if that's actually true though. Sounds like your DD is beginning on the path...but its obviously up to you when you want to start! I'm both hoping DS does it early, because nappy changing is one of my least favourite things about babies, but also totally not looking forward to it and hoping he stays in nappies a while longer. Haha.

We have MOVED!! Wine It's a total tip, there's still loads at the old flat to come over, and I'm absolutely exhausted, but it's so nice to finally be in our new place. We've been living in student housing since getting married 4.5 years ago, and this new place feels like a Palace. DS finally has his own room, we don't have 8 flights of stairs to walk up with no lift (old buildings are mental), we have a dishwasher, we have our own washing machine...seriously teary about it even though they're all totally common things to have!

Plus DS went down well (later than usual, due to all the excitement, but fast) and doesn't seem fazed by the new surroundings. Win! (we'll see if I still feel the same when he's awake 376 times tonight...)

Hope everyone has a lovely evening.

Motherofmonsters · 10/06/2021 06:26

Glad you've moved in okay @squishymama, how exciting! Hope DS stayed asleep for you.

We had a better day yesterday so that was good, DD has a cold SSO I was up every hour with her last night and then DH's alarm clock woke her up at 5.30....
I'm waiting for a shed to be delivered today and I've got a 45min stay and play thing at DS's school. They've put some extra sessions on for the kids that are struggling.

PinkDaydreams · 10/06/2021 06:36

@squishymamma congrats on the house move! Have you got much decorating/renovating to do?

@Motherofmonsters definate win with the breakfast!!

Can I ask about moon sand? Well I think it's called that, home made squidgy stuff from flour and baby oil. Has anyone tried it and if so does it leave greasy oil blobs on clothing etc?

OP posts:
Motherofmonsters · 10/06/2021 06:54

@pinkdaydreams - I made some on the first lockdown. I didn't find it overly greasy and can't remember it leaving stains. DS didn't really play with it so I haven't made it again

Chocolatetrifle · 10/06/2021 07:09

If anyone likes magnetic tiles we got this pack yesterday and DS1 really liked it.

Hope everyone is ok. Congratulations on your move @squishymamma.

Hope everyone has a good day. Had a day of squabbles yesterday, boys are unable to share anything, perhaps I expect too much of them to share at this age but can't buy two of everything!

PinkDaydreams · 10/06/2021 07:13

Where was that from @Chocolatetrifle I can see smaller playground sets but not the one you've posted. I bought a couple car sets from Amazon the other week that I've put away for Christmas, hoping Ds will like them!

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 10/06/2021 08:56

@PinkDaydreams I got it yesterday from Smyths toys, plus it had money off, I've never seen them before.

How is your son seeing now with his cough?

He's still got a cough but it's gradually going. DH pointed out to me this morning that my cold has lasted ages, I can't seem to shake it off! Had both covid jabs and I've been testing so I know it's not covid.

I'll have a nosey in Smyth's thank you as that set looks fab!

Chocolatetrifle · 10/06/2021 12:40

@PinkDaydreams there is a Magformers Police and Rescue set reduced on Amazon to £16.70. The one we got from Smyths was Max's Playground. That's on Amazon too. It seems that's going for £24. I think you can get more playground pieces to add on it says on our box but I can't see them.

Hope everyone gets well soon, the coughs are lingering in this house too.

PinkDaydreams · 10/06/2021 13:57

@Chocolatetrifle thank you! I hadn't seen that police set, it looks like a good addition Grin

Managed to pick up a few brand new Julia donaldson and Lydia bright books from charity shops today which I'll be putting away for Xmas and birthday, very pleased!

@PinkDaydreams, I've ordered the police set to put away for DS1's birthday.

We love all the Julia Donaldson books here too. Glad you got some bargains. The Hospital Dog is just out I think. We've just discovered Night Monkey Day Monkey too, I think that's one of my faves!

Chocolatetrifle · 10/06/2021 14:27

[grin]@PinkDaydreams Lydia BrightGrin , I used to love a bit of TOWIE!

I used to watch towie too, but only the first few series (with Bright in!) so I'm extremely behind now with all the cast members!! 😂

I really like night monkey day monkey, it annoys DH because the monkeys wouldn't know what peas and carrots are!

The magformers look great, I'll keep an eye out for them as I'll get asked what DS wants for his birthday soon.

Weird day today, we didn't do much this morning and then went to a ready for school thing at Max's school which was good. They've put the kids that might struggle together for some extra little sessions. DS was on good behaviour and one of the only ones that didn't walk off and do their own thing. DD has been a teething mess all day, I hate teeth.

Chocolatetrifle · 10/06/2021 17:53

@Motherofmonsters, glad it went well for you at DS's session today. You will soon be having to get all the school uniform sorted for September?

Sorry to hear about the teething. I think I'd forgotten just how long it goes on for, my DS2 is currently reminding me too!

Motherofmonsters · 10/06/2021 17:53

DD is asleep already, she was falling asleep at the dinner table, I'm going to be in for a rough night
