Aaaaand DS2 has a temperature (and threw up on me this morning)...the self
isolation rollercoaster/nightmare continues.

(He seems fine in himself, I think he just threw up excess snot and is happily watching ITNG on my lap.)

Feel bad for DS1 who is stuck indoors again and for work as I keep having to take time off as self-isolating.

Oh no @Camomila, hope DS2 gets better soon! DS is also quite snotty at the moment and keeps gagging on it (disgusting I know) so crossing fingers your DS2 has the same. You won't have to do a test though will you?

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff only 3 sleeps left!! Makes you really appreciate your DH, absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. Glad to hear it went better with the DTs last night, hope you all got some sleep!

I decided to sleep on the couch from the outset last night...DS slept from 7pm to 2am straight, and I woke up at midnight in a panic because I hadn't heard him! Then we had an hour of settling and resettling and he just wasn't happy, so I slung him in our bed and just laid down next to him and he was out again (as was I) - slept until 7am. What a win!! And he was so much happier this morning, must have been dog tired poor lad. Still wasn't keen to go into nursery though.

I guess now is an appropriate time for me to say that we are expecting DC2 because I have to complain about needles, which I hate - they took bloods at my appointment today, but apparently the trainee didn't take enough so I had to go back...3 attempts and nothing. Now I have to go to hospital to get them done did I mention I hate needles?? Felt sorry for the poor trainee, she was so apologetic...but also if they could have done it right the first time when the blood was flowing free, I wouldn't now be covered in cotton pads...

We've had a nature filled 5minutes, DS found a dead bird under the picnic table (thanks for that cat) and then he found a spiders nest (shudder) I've never seen so many tiny spiders. I can't stop itching.

@squishymamma, ugh, blood tests, sorry you had a bad experience, takes me back to when a trainee was doing mine, couldn't do it and screamed when my blood squirted out into the air! Good job I'm not squeamish! We've all got to start somewhere when training I guess!

@Camomila, how is DS2 now? Hope he gets better soon. Try not to worry about work, this is where we are now with all the isolation periods and waiting test results.

@Motherofmonsters, how is your DS's lip? There's something about when they cut the lip, the bleeding just goes on and on.

A spiders nest? Gosh, not sure I'd fancy that near the house myself! We had a frog in our garden yesterday evening, it provided so much entertainment.

@chocolatetrifle, it looks horrendous but he's okay. I don't think he's actually bit it, looks like he basically slide down the slope on his mouth and forearms. Can't say I'm keen to have it near me either, had a Google and apparently they are a new yellow spider?! Harmless apparently, still not keen though

How far along are you squishy? Congrats!

Twin bedtime slightly worse tonight, we had to stop songs as DS spat at me and mucked about, although staying in bed and not being really bad. They then sang quietly to each other so it was quite late when DD2 eventually got to sleep, around 8, but no one shouted and they weren't being really naughty so think it's shifting. Sloooowly.

@Motherofmonsters I think I would be removing that spiders nest...though I don't know if that's possible. Were they all just scuttling around? It's making me shudder just thinking about it.

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff I feel like when changing anything to do with sleep you have to play the long game. But it does sound like you're making progress! Cheering you on

Thanks for the congratulations everyone! I'm 13 weeks so still early, past the horrible "morning" sickness stage where you wake up every day and think "why am I doing this?" but still in the slightly queasy stage where food still isn't particularly appealing. Had a fantastic second trimester with DS though so really hoping for the same this time round.

We got to see DH yesterday! He's stationed right in Central and he had time off, so we had something to eat and a walk around. Fortunately DS responded much better this time and wasn't super sad when DH didn't come home with us (partly because he was shattered). Had a relatively good bedtime and he slept well with just a couple of wake ups. Just woken up at 7am which to me is mindblowing!

Today is nursery and not much else to report, hope everyone has a good day

@squishymama, no just in a ball, apparently if you disturb them they scatter and then go back in a ball.

In shocking news DD actually slept through! Second time in 20months, she didn't go sleep until 9pm but it's a massive improvement. I'm sure it won't happen again anytime soon but it's nice it happened

It's going to be hot here today, its really warm already. We're off to a local gardens attraction that have got a 'wild week' on for half term with a group of friends that we haven't seen for a year. I'm hoping it's not going to be to busy but I think I'm kidding myself. Theres 3 kids that are DS's age that he's known since he was 4months so is going to be strange to see how different they are after all this times

AARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Son has hayfever and it's really getting to him today, meltdown because he's got a runny nose which took an hour to calm him down. Been to the library this morning and this afternoon we are staying in.
I've caved and given him his iPad as I couldn't take anymore moaning. Autism and hay fever are a bad mix! He's had piriton which I'm hoping will start working soon 🤞

I'm absolutely shattered, went to the gardens today and it was really lovely. It's so tiring having two running around in a busy place. I couldn't watch them at the same time. I was bouncing DD on the trampoline and missed DS blocking the slide until someone told me. Makes me feel a bit rubbish that I wasn't watching him properly to notice. I was looking around for him to make sure he wasn't running off, but missed this. DS was a bit over excited and rough to so I hope they don't think I'm rubbish at this parenting stuff

What will the age gap be? (sorry if you already said and I missed it)

DS2 tested -ve for Covid but we didn't like the way he was coughing/breathing this morning - had a video appointment with the GP and he's now on antibiotics for a chest infection. He still sounds very chesty but has perked up after 2 doses of antibiotic. Have sent DS1 to my parents for the night so at least he can get some attention/sleep!

@PinkDaydreams fingers crossed for rain! It drizzled here today and I feel much better. Eating local honey is meant to help with hayfever but I've not got round to trying some. Also vaseline or haymax around your nostrils is a good one.

@Motherofmonsters don't worry, I think that's what everyone does with 2DC at the playyground - follow around the toddler and just keep the eldest in sight. You can't be in two places at once.

@PinkDaydreams, sorry you had a hard morning with your DS's hayfever. It's so hard when the little ones don't understand why they feel rubbish. I hope he will feel more settled with the piriton. You are doing great doing your best for him.

@Camomila, hope your dS2 fees better soon too. Glad you got some antibiotics sorted.. Mine are only just getting back to normal and it's been over a week.

@Motherofmonsters, totally agree it's hard to watch both at the playground. Don't feel bad at all. My DS had a stand off with another similar aged boy on the top of a climbing frame last week. It was actually quite funny as both were refusing to budge! Today DS2 was happy in the swing and DS1 was at the top of another climbing frame shouting 'help me help me' at the top of his voice as if he had been abandoned 🤣.

Argh! So much for making progress! Tonight they were both so tired after preschool I thought it would be a cinch.

OMG! They are still up! "I need a poo, I need a wee, I want another blanket, I want to wear my dressing gown" Agggghhh! They have both lost all their privileges and I have gone down to get us dinner from local fish n chip shop as can't bear it anymore. It's winding me up too much. I could hear them shouting about Elsa and Anna as I walked down the street 😲

Ah the hayfever sounds awful, so sorry. Esp with this hot dry weather (at least where we are).

Our sunshine has gone today so not sure on the plan. DH went out last night so not sure how functioning he is going to be. Off to reluctantly wake up DS in a minute, he doesn't go to sleep until late even though we start bedtime 7 so wants to sleep in but it would be worse if I didn't wake him

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff, oh gosh, did the twins settle ok? It's a battle when they just want to go on. My DS1 is 3.8 and although he settles late (9 ish at the moment) he can just go asleep ok. My DS2 is 17 months and still settles with his bottle. Not looking forward to breaking that habit again. I had to tell DS1 his bottle had gone to another boy who needed it, but I carried on his milk in a bottle until he was 2.10.

@Motherofmonstershow is your DD getting on with sleep? Great she slept through the night the other night.

DH took DS1 to an indoor trampoline park today , he was meant to go last week but missed it as he was ill. He's had a great time.

@chocolatetrifle, she's doing really well thanks. She woke twice last night but for less than 5mins. She wanted a drink so i got her milk from the fridge she had a sip and then lay down and went back to sleep!

Trampoline park sounds like great fun, DS would love that

I am celebrating today as DH is home!!! Their mission (guarding an American navy ship docked in Oslo) finished a day early. Sooooo good to have some support again.

Though I have to say, DS and I have had a great time the past few days now he's sleeping a reasonable amount! Today we went to a little pond thing that's for kids to play in, he was having great fun running around naked. He's also started running to me with arms up and a look of pure joy on his face and it melts the heart...
So yes, a good day.

@PinkDaydreams how is the hayfever going? Did the Puriton work? Sending support.

@Camomila they'll be 22 months apart, so just under 2 years. I'm both excited, because our nieces and nephews have similar age gaps and are great friends, but also terrified, because how do I deal with 2 such young children...but I'm sure we'll muddle through! Hope DS2 is better soon and that DS1 enjoyed his little holiday away.

So last night was basically hell. They were up past 9pm which was 2 hours after they'd actually gone to bed 😱 then DD1 aged 6.5 had 2 bad dreams at 3am and 4am and DH has head cold so snored like train. Zero sleep and we missed 930am swimming. DT2 is normally the Energizer Bunny but she kept saying today "my power is gone, Mummy".

However, DT1 is officially a big boy in pants!! He was scared of the dinosaurs on some of his pants and had about a thousand (okay, 4) accidents in the morning, but then dry from lunch to bedtime!

Bedtime they tried it on again but I was hardcore, privileges gone at the first bit of naughtiness and they were too tired to keep at it, so asleep by 7.45pm.

I have a nice Chablis and hoping to goodness they stay put till at least 7am tomorrow!!

@Motherofmonsters, that's brilliant isn't it? You've done really well with the night weaning, it sounds like your DD has got used to it straight away.

The trampolining soft play centre was very good I've been informed, plus they had little arcade games for the kids to play on. He very much enjoyed 'Whack a mole'.

@squishymamma, glad your DH is home early! Sounds like you've had a lovely day. We have a 25 month age gap and we are still surviving so you will be fine!

DD has slept through again! It's like a different child. I'm really glad I night weaned and stopped the morning feed to, I think that's helped her to not wake up thinking it's wake up milk.

Hope you had a better night @johnnymcgrathsaysfuckoff. Glad potty training has been going well, it's such a mission doing it.

DH has a sore throat so is useless again this morning....
