Things your pets do, that annoy you

My current bugbear is my dog squeazing past me. No matter where I am, if she wants past me, she'll go the awkward way. Say I'm making tea, she'll try to squeeze through the tiny gap between my legs, and the cupboard, even though there's a whole open kitchen, and tons of space, on the other side of me.

What are your pets annoying foibles?

My very white ddog knows how to cover my black jeans with a layer of bloody hair. Never brushes past me in any other trousers..

My cat can open the door to the spare room , where he likes to go to claw the wallpaper.

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2021 11:53

Cat never wanting a fuss when I am available to fuss her, but when I on the loo or trying to eat or any other time when I am not. Hmm

Oh and christening the brand new cat litter 2 minutes after it's poured into the tray. Every single time.

Aprilshowersandhail · 20/04/2021 11:57

This is her in a chair in our ddog - free lounge...

puppygalore · 20/04/2021 12:06

My puppy has been through teething but likes to gnaw all my trees and plants in the garden, completely ignoring the thousands of chewing toys I have out for her. I'm resigned to not planting or growing anything for the foreseeable!

TTCat39 · 20/04/2021 13:25

Our dog rubs her face on everything. She'll walk the length of a wall / sofa / bed / cupboard smearing her chops along it. Seems to enjoy it even more when she's just had her tea...I don't! Confused

Cowbells · 20/04/2021 13:28

Our cat is adorable but very old now. He clambers up onto our bed at night to sleep on my shoulder. I have woken more than once because he has drooled onto my face. Not good. But he was autistic DS's best friend for many years before DS made human ones. He absolutely doted on DS and so I'd forgive him anything.

GoddessLocs · 20/04/2021 13:31

My cat loves to sit as close to the computer chair as possible so I have to awkwardly maneuver out or push the chair into him...

TTCat39 · 20/04/2021 13:33

@GoddessLocs My dog does this too. My chair has wheels and I caught her ear once. I felt awful so I'm always really careful now.

sunshineandshowers21 · 20/04/2021 13:34

i’ve got three cats and whenever i feed them they all spend about five minutes wandering from bowl to bowl having a taste of each before they decide which one they want. they’re all the same!

BigusBumus · 20/04/2021 13:36

Either one of my two mainly white Jack Russell's will jump up on my lap unexpectedly, regardless of what I'm doing. Sitting at my desk; bang she's on me. Going for a wee; up she jumps etc.

And as I mainly wear black I am continually accessorised by a white dog hair lap and tummy area. 😡

GoddessLocs · 20/04/2021 13:40

@TTcat93 they still never learn though!! I've tried putting objects around my chair but he just lays on top of them 😂

BearSoFair · 20/04/2021 13:53

I would have said squatting with her feet in the litter tray but her bum hanging over the edge meaning she was usually toileting on the floor. But she died 2 weeks ago and I wish I was still mopping up after her Sad

hellcatspangle · 20/04/2021 14:02

Pretends she needs the loo so I let her out, and she goes and eats sticks/bark/leaves in the garden.

Dogmum40 · 20/04/2021 14:04

No boundaries! I can’t remember the last time I peed, bathed, ate or slept without her presence! We also have zero sex life because of it 🤣

DeepfriedPizza · 20/04/2021 14:06

My dog tends to give the back of my knees a wee nudge at the top of the stairs.

She also wants in and out the back door 500 times a day just to go and have a look about then come back in.

Aprilshowersandhail · 20/04/2021 14:11

Our previous ddog was fascinated with the TV and would stand in front of it on or off.
Once adult ds got up at stupid o o'clock to queue to buy a new x box game in town.
4 hours.
A further 5 hours to download it..
Ddog stood at the TV. Turned round and her tail flicked the xbox off.
Ds had to restart the download!!
He had The Rage.!!

My new cat is an angel, she doesn't scratch furniture or carpet ever and just heads straight for the scratching post. She squeaks at me and is super cuddly.
However she will not use the cat flap, I have to leave the door open and it's cold here. She used a cat flap with her previous owners and uses the litter tray with a flap so I know she can.
Tonight I'm going to tie it up with bungee cords to see if she will at least use the hole.
My old cat Buns was 19 when she died and for some years dug to Australia in the litter tray, trod in poo and walked shitty pawprints all over the house.
What I wouldn't give to have her back and be cleaning up shitty pawprints again. I loved her so much.

RumJerrySailorRum · 20/04/2021 14:25

My beautiful but daft pooch always lies in the way, particularly when I'm ironing. He's got the rest of the damn house to lay out his huge Labrador body, but oh no, right next to the ironing board he has to be!

He also dances about so much when it's walk time that we can't get his lead on, despite knowing we can't leave the house until we do.

He has to have it on before we go as all the neighbours have cats and he attempts to chase them......into the road usually!

But he's bloody lovely and scrumptious and getting old now so I don't really care that he's annoying 😊

RandomMess · 20/04/2021 14:26

My cat loves to wrap herself around my neck but never fully retracts her claws, I am allergic so end up bright red, itchy and it hurts a little.

She is in love with sitting on the mouse mat and sits on it whilst I try to work, she often sits on the mouse too.

Dog - hmm, refusing to go for a walk with other people in the hope I will take her out 🤷🏽‍♀️

The ear flapping, washing and sleep yelping as she now sleeps in my room due to her separation anxiety 🙄

ichundich · 20/04/2021 14:26

Our cat vomited on the Roman blind this morning 🤮.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 20/04/2021 14:30

Sits on the back of the sofa barking at anyone who might dare walk past Angry

GeidiPrimes · 20/04/2021 14:31

Both cats drink my water, and sometimes one will tip it over if he's in that kind of mood. On more than one occasion a blast of cold water being thrown at me has woken me up. They also leave little muddy piles of garden stuff in the bed, but I don't mind that really.

DDog's a squeezer-past - usually when I'm doing pilates or trying to get down the stairs. Or getting ready to take him out, constant tapdancing and toe-tapping until we get out the door.

They rarely annoy me though, just the odd FFS moment.

purdypuma · 20/04/2021 14:36

My 2 cats always insist on overtaking me going down steep terraced stairs first thing in the morning ...lost count of the number of times I've come a cropper!
They always manage to throw up in carpeted room despite the kitchen having lino & the bathroom polished floorboards.
Caught 1 yr old male cat clearing his bowels out in my garden borders yesterday!
Love them to bits but they do have the ability to test the patience of a saint....Grin

Stellaris22 · 20/04/2021 14:39

We had to switch the guinea pigs water bottle to a bowl (clipped onto cage) because he kept drinking so vigorously the bottle always knocked off.

Now he sort of bites the water bowl instead of drinking. It's so loud and the other guinea pig drinks quietly.
