Inspired by another thread by HensTeeth44, here is a thread for lovers of fan fiction either writer or just an avid reader.

I do have some unfinished Harry Potter fan fic to share but I'm at working at the moment.

Dont be afraid to share your favourites.

Presumably they don't like really bad or grim sex though? Maybe the boys have to try and remember their encounters as having, uh, unhappy endings, for now.

MrsGulDukat · 25/05/2021 13:46

Snarf at the idea that dementors trawl the blocks at Azkaban for anyone having filthy dreams.

OP posts:
BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 25/05/2021 13:51

They'd love me. My dreams frequently get... Interesting. Although almost never with anyone I'm actually attracted to IRL apart from DH, for some reason. My one celebrity sex dream was about James Marsters as Spike, and I know he's a lot of people's cup of Earl Grey but I'll have a coffee, thanks.

So... I wouldn't do well in Azkaban, basically. And should probably stop making fun of Sirius.

They'd hate me. I seldom have a filthy dream but when I do.....it's filthy.

Well they try not to think about it at all - Remus tried not to go to sleep for days and days because when he's awake he can control what he thinks about, but dreams ... not so much.
They're not really thinking about the sex so much as the meaning - it's the whole being in love that the dementors are feeding on, I don't think they can see the content of the dream - its just the way the person is feeling that brings them to the door.
When they're awake they carefully don't think about each other. But they had precisely one sexual encounter and it went very well - of all the none happy things they can think about to keep their sanity, inventing unhappy sex they never had seems an odd way to go about it. They want neutral thoughts - not happy so they can be taken, but not miserable ones that just add to what the dementors do.

MrsGulDukat · 25/05/2021 15:20

So they think about beige walls?

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 25/05/2021 16:32

As per canon, Sirius thinks about being innocent. Remus is finding great comfort in getting angry about Peter - it's not happy so the dementors can't take it, but anger actually revs him up rather than leaving him all weak and drained. Though as the date of his execution gets closer (ten days and counting) he's finding it harder and harder to not give into his despair.

MrsGulDukat · 25/05/2021 16:38

Ah well. What's a bit of misery.

I've got some.planned for Cassie.

I'm developing a major crush on Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian. This usually only ends one way.

Plus side: he's so good at inflicting misery on himself that he hardly even needs fic writers.

Icantreachthepretzels · 26/05/2021 15:58

Pedro Pascal appears in one episode of Buffy - in 'the Freshman' he and Buffy have a nice little meeting and make friends, only for him to be turned into a vampire.

I've written Sirius' daring escape, he was not distracted by thoughts of manly mutual masturbation - but he did go off on a bit of a tangent on what amortentia smelled like for him (Remus - if anyone was unclear on that - or at least things that remind him of Remus.)

MrsGulDukat · 26/05/2021 16:18

I'm glad Sirius managed to keep his head clear enough to get out of dodge.

NO WAY! The dorky freshman who likes Of Human Bondage is the Mandalorian?

Congratulations to Sirius on his triumphant escape. Grin

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 26/05/2021 18:11

Looking forward to reading it @Icantreachthepretzels!

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 26/05/2021 20:24

Finally rescued poor stranded Beth and Townes from the couch! Nearly done with this chapter (mine all seem to work out at approximately 3k words).

Maybe later I will catch up with Remus, Sirius, and Lucius :)

MrsGulDukat · 26/05/2021 23:10

I'm reading some of my old fan fics.

I cringe at how badly edited they are.

My first ever one on ff.net has shockingly bad grammar mistakes. It isn't even from that long ago ... I guess you really do just get better at some stuff without realising, the more you do it.

MrsGulDukat · 27/05/2021 00:20

I have definitely improved over time.

OP posts:
BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 27/05/2021 15:22

Me too. My grammar's always been pretty good but I've learned to rein in my tendency to the... Florid.

I got a quality comment overnight, so yay.

MrsGulDukat · 27/05/2021 17:19

Yay!

I will return to writing soon, I'm just distracted. Commander Shepard demands a lot of attention. But Ive nearly finished the last game and I'm gonna get teary again.

OP posts:
MrsGulDukat · 28/05/2021 22:04

Nearly 10 years later, this bloody game still gets to me.

I need to write some fluff to cheer me up.

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 29/05/2021 00:04

I'm intrigued as to how a video game can be sad.
I haven't written anything for a couple of days - I need to do some hard core writing tomorrow. But then I always say that and I never do ...

MrsGulDukat · 29/05/2021 08:12

@Icantreachthepretzels

Have you ever watched/read something that you really loved. You love the characters, the surroundings so much you get invested?

If so, that's exactly like gaming. Some times, they get you emotionally invested and when it ends, you feel sad.

It's a story that you control part of the narrative for.

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 29/05/2021 23:47

The last video game I played was MarioKart. The idea that they have sweeping, epic story lines and characters you get invested in these days is ... utterly baffling. My knowledge of gaming is literally - but don't you just press the buttons and make it move?

MrsGulDukat · 30/05/2021 00:30

That's just one type of game.

A lot of modern games are like interactive films.

Games like Mass Effect, Ghost of Tsushima, The Witcher etc are immersive that you make choices.

Mass Effect is a good example for this because you make choices based on what you want your character to do. Do you keep going on the mission or do you sacrifice it to save innocent lives?

You can pick who you want to romance, connect with the characters around you. (Although this is not same in every game)

You connect with the character as you are taken through the storyline.

Sometimes it ends happily, sometimes it doesnt.

Well my week of fanfic writing (Annual leave) has got off to a good start.

Onto fic number two.
