Inspired by another thread by HensTeeth44, here is a thread for lovers of fan fiction either writer or just an avid reader.

I do have some unfinished Harry Potter fan fic to share but I'm at working at the moment.

Dont be afraid to share your favourites.

it's like they don't know where the bookmark button is!
Actually I've never seen a bookmark button on AO3! Is there one?
But then after one bad experience following a fanfic for months and about 50 chapters which then stopped dead, I never start reading anything incomplete any more, and if I think I'll want to reread a story, I use Safari bookmarks or I put it in Flipboard.

Icantreachthepretzels · 05/05/2021 15:16

Lilly is a two foot tall seven year old - I'm guessing this is plot relevant as it is a well known fact it is much easier to eat a two foot person whole than a three foot person.

I'm sorry to say I never got to the vore - the characterisation of Cordelia was so bad I couldn't continue. It was bad enough I felt like leaving a comment to say how bad it was ... but I don't leave negative comments.

The writer certainly isn't a terrible writer by any means though - but they obviously have a weird proclivity and no handle on the characters they are writing.

bunglebee · 05/05/2021 15:24

Possibly this is a self-protection mechanism for normal people? I.e. only someone who really wants to get to the kink is willing to put up with the bad characterisation lead-in. So this author actually did you a cleverly disguised kindness. Obvs.

If you have an account and you're logged in then it's at the top - it's the very first button.
If you don't have an account you can't bookmark, but then you can't subscribe either.

Ha! Your mind works in ingenious ways. No - it was close enough to Cordelia that I can tell the writer doesn't think it's OOC but ... it's OOC. She has Cordelia turn away the two foot, homeless, seven year old because she can't pay which ... yes Cordelia likes to get paid and is always a bit disappointed when they work a pro bono case, but she never turns away unpaying clients who need helping. And even Cordelia wouldn't turn away a homeless seven year old!
Icantreachthepretzels · 05/05/2021 15:29

thinks it's not* OOC

MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 15:59

I've been trying to find a fic in which the writer described a set of boobs as plump peaches.

Gah!

OP posts:
MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 16:21

I cant find it.

It was so cringe I wanted to share it.

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 05/05/2021 20:17

'plump peaches'😂

my favourite fanfic cliché is 'orbs' ... it just sounds like a euphemism for testicles to me. That little bit classier than 'balls'.

'she stared dreamily into his green orbs'
a) weird
b) get those to a doctor, mate.

bunglebee · 05/05/2021 20:19

My personal bugbear is "lave".

It's a perfectly cromulent word, I know, but... eesh.

Also the whole "the older man"/"the younger man" thing. It just so often sounds clunky.

MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 20:40

Lave?

I did also see, "Love triangle" being used. I'll let you guess what it means.

I try to steer from the cheesy euphemisms but its hard. Using vagina, vulva, introitus makes it seem like a sex manual.

That's half of why I don't write sex! (the other half is I am the most terrible prude)

I've never come across 'lave' - dare I even ask what it means?

It's a perfectly cromulent word, I know, but... eesh.

Grin - fanfic - embiggening vocabulary one word at a time.

MorganSeventh · 05/05/2021 21:18

To lave is to wash.

bunglebee · 05/05/2021 21:34

@MorganSeventh

To lave is to wash.
It's usually not used for laundry though. I imagine you can fill in the rest.
MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 21:41

I'm writing a sex scene right now.

I shall use lave, plump peaches and orbs in it and honour of all of you.

OP posts:
HensTeeth44 · 05/05/2021 21:47

@MrsGulDukat plump peaches has got me! Grin

MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 21:50

@HensTeeth44

I think the writer was taking the piss but it was still proper cringe.

OP posts:
bunglebee · 05/05/2021 21:52

I can't wait Grin

"Plump" is just not a good work in relation to sex.

MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 22:07

I wont really use those words.

I dont think my hands could knowingly type,

"as he palmed her plump peaches, he looked deep in her bright blue orbs. "I want to lave you with my tongue." He purred. "And drink the finest champagne from your asshole."

And ever show myself on AO3 ever again!!

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 05/05/2021 23:21

@MrsGulDukat - oh I actually did laugh at loud at that. Maybe post in under a second account? Grin

Also - yay! my HP fic just got a comment! Let's hope it draws more readers into feeling generous. Kudos are creeping up too.

MrsGulDukat · 05/05/2021 23:24

Yay. Sometimes you just gotta wait for the right person to read it.

OP posts:
MrsGulDukat · 06/05/2021 09:26

I updated last night and no comments.

And I stayed up to finish it too.

OP posts:
Icantreachthepretzels · 06/05/2021 12:01

I got no extra comments - but the person who commented did leave two. They were a guest. Guests have still left the vast majority of kudos - for some reason people without accounts seem more proactive than people who have them. You would surely think it would be the other way around?
