I feel deeply satisfied today because I got 3 loads of washing dried outside!

How sad has my life become ?!? ConfusedGrin

3 whole big loads fully dried outside, 1st time this year (thus far previous best was 1.5 loads that had to be finished in the dryer)

Yay 😁

Please feel free to share any similarly trivial sources of pleasure

Drying bedding outside is super satisfying

misslomi · 19/04/2021 10:41

I got two loads dried outside yesterday and I'm still buzzing about it now! Love a good washing day!

Clearly need to get a life 😂

AbsolutelyPatsy · 19/04/2021 10:45

i have to get up early and take dd to work, bonus is a washing on before i leave the house, walking the dog, come home and hey presto, first load of washing on the line by 8.15!

Curlygirl06 · 19/04/2021 11:08

I put my washing out every day, rain, snow, sun, it goes out. I have a massive airer so it gets put on there then I put it under the awning. I've been known to brush the snow off the patio so the airer can go out! Bit of fresh air through it, much less time needed in the tumble dryer.

MarshaBradyo · 19/04/2021 11:10

I concur line drying is the best way

Ah yes OP, but as he wearily slumped home from work last night, he collapsed into bed and shouted out, "thanks for doing my bed, mum!"

My dc are all grown now. My biggest satisfaction was a line of crisp white school shirts. My dm's was terry nappies.

theworldsbiggestcrocodile · 19/04/2021 12:04

I've hung two loads out this morning. I used my new pegs. Feel like an absolute don!

SeriouslyAreYouSerious · 19/04/2021 12:47

@Tiredmumno1

OP are you my husband? 😁

He was so happy about the exact same thing yesterday.

😂

Yes darling, remember that summer in Cornwall in '96...? Wink

@CauliflowerCheese30

I'm washing the cushions this morning, and I have another load to put on before I go work, I don't mind the washing, I hate putting it away!!
God yeah - can't bear it

@PattyPan

I used the time delay function, which had never crossed my mind until a recent thread Blush, this morning so I could have it on the line before work. Second load in the machine now! I have a long line rather than rotary but I think a rotary might actually have more space.
They do but dry slower. Swings and roundabouts innit? Grin Long lines are so much prettier

@StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes

Washing is my favourite hobby 😁 i have a double line, the top one is on a pulley system so hoists up high meaning sheets and duvet covers can be hung straight down by their edges. The pole has a weathervane on it so i can hang by the edge that the wind is coming from so everything blows like a windsock, i love hanging it out for maximum effect. I did washing yesterday but have just gone and gathered up a throw and the few bits from the basket just so i can wash some more. I am such a saddo 😁
Omg, a weathervane? New. Level. Of. Awesomeness Grin

New pegs you say? mine keep snapping in my hands, not the annoying ones irritatingly - the ones I prefer to use. I think a new peg set is essential Grin

My cost is drying outside, no way is out before work, starting at 6 am

Nsky · 19/04/2021 13:08

Sorry coat

Piglet89 · 19/04/2021 14:27

@SeriouslyAreYouSerious my husband’s best friend bought his wife some kind of barometer/wind speed indicator which is on the wall of their kitchen linked up to Norwegian weather data so she can decide when to put out washing for optimal drying.

motherofawhirlwind · 19/04/2021 14:32

Matching pegs - yes! My daughter mixes them up when I am not looking and then laughs when I have to go and "fix" them

AbsolutelyPatsy · 19/04/2021 18:35

i was in my twenties and took a photo of all my washing on the line Blush, lovely garden full of daffodils and i am concentrating on my washing Smile

@Piglet89 do they live in Norway, or does Norwegian weather affect the UK in some way I am not aware of? Either way, it sound awesome! My grandma had an old fashioned barometer hanging in her hallway and I was always fascinated by it Smile

Piglet89 · 19/04/2021 19:48

No they live in Edinburgh! Norwegian weather service is most accurate in the world apaz!

GalesThisMorning · 19/04/2021 21:56

I've just come back to this thread to share my grievance. I had a load of bedding in the machine, already to line dry tomorrow. It's supposed to be another good drying day. My husband took it upon himself to turn the machine on and hang the washing, badly, all around the house. Its strewn over every radiator all crumpled like Angry it's sabotage pure and simple

headlock · 19/04/2021 22:14

Ah, the joy of multiple loads dry in one day.
Always love to look out at the sheets billowing gently too.

whenyouknow1youknow1 · 19/04/2021 22:35

Did 4 loads on Saturday, sun shining which is rarer than rare in NI. Came home to discover that my 'D'H had spread slurry in the field right beside the house and hadn't the wit to take it in or even move the line..it's on wheels! Angry
