I feel deeply satisfied today because I got 3 loads of washing dried outside!

How sad has my life become ?!? ConfusedGrin

3 whole big loads fully dried outside, 1st time this year (thus far previous best was 1.5 loads that had to be finished in the dryer)

Yay 😁

Please feel free to share any similarly trivial sources of pleasure

@H1978

We’re fasting at the moment so I put the first load on at 4am. It’s great to have it out by 7am and second load is done by the time I’ve dropped dd off at school. Dried, folded and sorted by 1pm. 👍🏼
That sounds so efficient! SmileSmile

@Piglet89

OMG op you are my hero.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with line drying outside. Obsessed.

You’ve obviously checked the met office app the night before, you perhaps put the first load on on a time delay, so the cycle finishing coincided with your getting up so you could get it out early. The sun shine all day and things just went like clockwork from there.

Am I right? AM I RIGHT?!

I've literally just put bedding in on the time delay ready for DH to peg out in the morning as he's working from home so no commute time. It makes me feel very organised.

I am with you lot. Checking the weather app, rainfall radar etc. Wfh is a godsend for line drying Grin. I am actually a bit sentimental about it. My grandmothers, now passed, both LOVED a good drying day and I think of them often when pegging out. They would approve Smile

I love air drying! I especially love a long line!

We have a rotary line here which is okay. But my favourite is a full line of towels or bed linen. It is a thing of beauty!

We have so many small change. I need to use it up!

userxx · 18/04/2021 21:35

Love a line full of freshly washed clothes, I lose time by just standing, staring with a content smile on my face.

HelenaJustina · 18/04/2021 21:43

Another 3 loader here today as well! 💪🏻

@Piglet89 I do love a time delay - I get up at 6am for work so like to have the first load finishing then, so satisfying to have it hanging on the line before I leave at 7.15am! I’m running out of things to wash, done bedding, towels and throws from the sofas. Winter coats is a good shout...

No amateurs on this thread, I see.

Have found my tribe.

Thelnebriati · 18/04/2021 22:00

Apparently every year my lot mark the day I announce that I was able to wash the curtains, and I realise I've turned into my Auntie. Blush

BluntlySpoken · 18/04/2021 22:16

I have been getting 2 a day since Feb except rainy days obvs.
Yest I did 4.

I've just put machine in timer to start before we get up so finished for breakfast time to get one lot out early. I'm so excited.
I'll then strip beds to get them done.. Its sad lol

Riddlediddle · 18/04/2021 22:20

@Piglet89 is that me??? I feel like we may be the same person Smile

BluntlySpoken · 18/04/2021 22:22

I have a long high line. About 45 / 50 ft Only one on the street. Its soo pretty.
I even do 2 pink pegs 2 yellow and so forth. Never put 2 diff color pegs on 1 item.

Then airer for my 'big' smalls, socks etc. As don't want them on show lol

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 18/04/2021 22:22

I LOVE this, does anyone else treat the washing line as a bit of a game? I call it the Washing Line Olympics. I'll hang things out, set a deadline and see if it can all get dry by then. I think "I bet that black shirt dries first...YES I was right". I mentally plan what will go on next and where. It's more fun than I care to admit Grin

MegaClutterSlut · 18/04/2021 22:32

I love watching the washing flap about in the wind Blush

Itstheprinciple · 18/04/2021 22:40

I do have a confession though....on Friday I was so tired I left the washing on the line. All. Night.

CoronaCurls · 18/04/2021 22:48

I call it 'maximising drying potential' - hanging washing out in the optimum way to dry as quickly as possible. It's great to find other people as sad as me about line drying 😆

tinseloatcake · 18/04/2021 22:52

We put one out tonight ready to dry tomorrow. Exciting!

Piglet89 · 18/04/2021 23:04

@tinseloatcake hang on (pun intended) - pre-emptive overnight hanging for optimal morning drying?

Could be another game-changer.

Piglet89 · 18/04/2021 23:05

BTW I got my NCT pal into the virtues of line drying laundry.

You could say I am a kind of line-drying mentor, or coach. Or champion, maybe.

SeriouslyAreYouSerious · 19/04/2021 00:00

Love this thread 😍

I'm quite particular about how I hang things up. I like to turn them all the right way, shake them out to minimise creases and hang them so as not to stretch them or leave weird peg marks in overly visible places.

My lovely dad, who does all the laundry at my parents house, once hung up a load for me. I had to grit my teeth when I got the clothes in and they were all •hung wrong• The t shirts were all pointy at the bottom corners 😱😱😱

Sometimes the children help me and I'm ashamed that I wish they just wouldn't Blush🤦‍♀️

Oh I do this - I don't care about spider willies. Only in summer though, when there will be no overnight rain or dew!

This made me lol so that ds asked suspiciously what I was laughing at. Then I had to shamefacedly explain that I was talking about washing with people on the Internet BlushGrinBlush He already thinks I'm a proper weirdo, this did not help...

They would. I often think about how much harder laundry was in the past. I find it a huge task even with all mod cons. I saw a painting of women in Scandinavia somewhere in the c19 doing the laundry (by hand natch) through a hole broken in the winter ice 🥶 💪 God knows how they got it dry again.
