I feel deeply satisfied today because I got 3 loads of washing dried outside!

How sad has my life become ?!? ConfusedGrin

3 whole big loads fully dried outside, 1st time this year (thus far previous best was 1.5 loads that had to be finished in the dryer)

Yay 😁

Please feel free to share any similarly trivial sources of pleasure

I'm all tucked up in line dried bedding, it's the best feeling. When I saw how sunny it was this morning I was determined to get all the bedding done as soon as possible, it did mean stripping the beds with OH still asleep in them, but I think that's reasonable for line dried bedding!

Pet8 · 19/04/2021 00:16

I sent my son a photo of his bed linen and curtains flapping on the new extra long washing line he put up last weekend. I was just so happy I had to share. His reply was, "you've turned into a stereotype middle aged woman lately"....well I am 50 now I suppose. I still can't wait to see live music again but for now this was up there. All the work uniforms, bedding, towels done over the weekend. Think I'll be doing the winter coats myself next. Excellent shout.

Pyewackect · 19/04/2021 00:25

I can’t say doing the washing does much for me. Nor vacuuming, cleaning the outside kharzi or changing the bed linen but I do like brushing and grooming my horse Major Tom, and cleaning his tack. He’s always pleased to see my and enjoys a chat plus sharing out a polo mint or two. He’s totally lovely.

SkepticalCat · 19/04/2021 07:33

Does anyone do the thing with sheets where you hang them on the line from their edges, with three pegs on one side and two on the other, so when the wind catches it, the sheet billows like a ship's sail?

My mum is a complete expert at this, even adjusting which side the two/three pegs go to maximise billowing depending on wind direction.

I try to also do this, but it just isn't the same with me grappling with sheets and a rotary line.

Tocktickclick · 19/04/2021 07:41

I get so excited by this sort of thing! I managed one load of line drying yesterday but it was my first full load on the line this year. But 3 is going some!!
I often think how fortunate we are to have washers and dryers nowadays. My mum struggled with a top loading twin tub for years. I'm not proud of how much I use my tumble dry and I'm aiming to use the line as much as I possibly can going forward. And I've dusted off my airer for damp days too.

My next door neighbour can do this! #washingorigami she’s a washing sorceress!

Piglet89 · 19/04/2021 08:31

Husband is hanging washing out while I feed son breakfast. He’s doing it all WRONGLY!

LemmysAceCard · 19/04/2021 09:10

@Thelnebriati

Apparently every year my lot mark the day I announce that I was able to wash the curtains, and I realise I've turned into my Auntie. Blush
I was just looking at my white bedroom curtains last night, thinking about putting the washer and how to hang them on the line - straight drop or fold over the line, would a straight drop mean there is no need to iron or would a fold over the line leave a line in the curtain? So many decisions.

Actually excited about getting the washed as the bottoms are covered in dog slobber.

Knittingnanny · 19/04/2021 09:29

My people! I’m old enough to remember the joy of watching Terry nappies drying on the line. Not the drudgery of washing them in a twin tub though.
I always hang mine out at night then it’s dry by mid morning. One of my favourite phrases is “ it’s a good drying day”.
I really really want a long line with a pole like my mum and grandma had but in our little garden there is only room for a rotary line.
Now there is only 2 of us I can plan the laundry to only be done on “ a good drying day”!
When my boys were little in the 80’s I remember reading a Ladybird series to them called “ the garden gang” and one of the characters used to say “ it’s a good drying day”
One of my lovely sons in law shares and understands my interest! He is an expert on line drying.

Yes, I use mine too much, but that amplifies the satisfaction of 3 loads without!

I love this and can be found admiring many tiny babygros hanging on our line most days! Definitely this is our last DC so I need to enjoy this while I can. Although muslins are not as soft from the line so they may get a quick tumble.

popcorndiva · 19/04/2021 09:45

I managed to line dry all my towels yesterday all 10 of them. Today's mission is 3 sets of bedding. First set was drying by 9:15am

Tiredmumno1 · 19/04/2021 09:48

OP are you my husband? 😁

He was so happy about the exact same thing yesterday.

😂

CauliflowerCheese30 · 19/04/2021 09:54

I'm washing the cushions this morning, and I have another load to put on before I go work, I don't mind the washing, I hate putting it away!!

BluntlySpoken · 19/04/2021 09:56

I have 2 loads on the line now one in the machine ready to add to it in exactly 37 min when it's finished.
Next load piled in front of machine

Crappyfridays7 · 19/04/2021 10:00

I love getting my washing out on the line the more the better. Smells fresh and clean def satisfying

I used the time delay function, which had never crossed my mind until a recent thread Blush, this morning so I could have it on the line before work. Second load in the machine now! I have a long line rather than rotary but I think a rotary might actually have more space.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 19/04/2021 10:35

Washing is my favourite hobby 😁 i have a double line, the top one is on a pulley system so hoists up high meaning sheets and duvet covers can be hung straight down by their edges. The pole has a weathervane on it so i can hang by the edge that the wind is coming from so everything blows like a windsock, i love hanging it out for maximum effect. I did washing yesterday but have just gone and gathered up a throw and the few bits from the basket just so i can wash some more. I am such a saddo 😁
