Truthfully what do you think the age limit is on dungarees

I really want some I’m 45! Too old? I’m also ‘curvy’. But damn they look comfy.

The age limit is 4. I hope never to see an adult in them.

Frogsonglue · 18/04/2021 06:09

I live in them, I'm 43. Go for it.

Guavafish · 18/04/2021 06:16

For some reason I associate them with American prisoners of old

hoorayforharoldlloyd · 18/04/2021 07:20

On a sewing group I'm on, a woman has been sharing pics of the first dungarees she has made. She's in her 60s and looks genuinely great. Of you're worried about looking like a children's TV presenter, just think about the colours and what you'd wear them with. You could also go relaxed fit like Lucy and yak. If you like wearing them you will look good.

FindingMeno · 18/04/2021 08:12

There is no age limit.

Slacktacular · 18/04/2021 08:20

They were originally designed as practical workwear for adults, so I’m amused by all the people insisting that they’re only appropriate for the under 5s.

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 18/04/2021 08:21

5 years old.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 18/04/2021 08:23

If people don't like them or me in them then they are the sort of people whose taste can be disregarded anyway.

I have these. Be wild, be free, be happy!
What's the worst that could happen?!

ZigZagJane · 18/04/2021 08:43

23 then a gap then 40 onwards, once you are done pretending to be a grownup. I love them btw!

I agree with this. What shoes go with them though?! Sandals I get, but when it's colder?

TroysMammy · 18/04/2021 08:50

3 unless your name is Jane and you live with a Rod and a Freddie.

itsgettingwierd · 18/04/2021 08:52

Any age.

I've been eying up a lovely pink cotton cord pair on Lucy and yak.

hazandduck · 18/04/2021 09:03

Oh god I live in my black denim dungarees! It’s never occurred to me that people might judge me for wearing them I thought they were just a normal item of clothing for anyone. My dungarees are the comfiest things in the world.

OP I have those Boohoo ones as well I recently got them they are nice, they don’t have as much stretch as my other favourite ones that I’ve had years but they are still nice and flattering as they nip in your waist. I did pair them with a check shirt under the other day and DH said I looked too lumberjack 😂

I wear mine with trainers mainly. Or wellies if I’m going in the woods and it’s muddy, or sometimes my biker boots. But yeah in summer they definitely go with plain sandals. I’ve never worn them with heels but I don’t wear heels generally.

Nobody has said I look like an overgrown toddler yet but now I’m feeling a bit paranoid 😬

wonderstuff · 18/04/2021 09:09

Sue Gedroyc looks fab in them she's in her 50s and not tall & willowy

I wear either my black classic Vans or white sugergas, usually with a stripy Breton or a plain t shirt.

I am reasonable sure I don’t look like a toddler either 😂

I bought some a while ago, thinking I'd wear them rolled up with a vest underneath and look effortlessly cool.

Erm no. I looked like I was about to break into a chorus of Come On Eileen.

Queenofbeebers · 18/04/2021 13:12

Well the order arrived impressively quickly as I ordered last night.

Two words. Fat Ghostbuster.

@Queenofbeebers

Yes I love run and fly. I gave a dinosaur dress from there! Guess if I’m still ok to walk about with a stegosaurus on my arse I can carry off dungarees.
That’s such an MN post. Grin
Crappyfridays7 · 18/04/2021 13:25

For me
Never ever coz I’d look ridiculous but some people really suit them and look great I think it’s one of those things if you like them, feel comfy and happy then who cares what anyone else thinks.

Mylittlesandwich · 18/04/2021 13:27

I wear dungarees as a very fat 28 year old. I imagine some people think I look ridiculous but I really don't care tbh. I stopped dressing with other people in mind a few years ago and it's wonderful.

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 18/04/2021 13:34

Oh no @Queenofbeebers Sad

They looked so nice on the model ...

ShrikeAttack · 18/04/2021 13:36

But if adult women choose to wear them there's no upper age. If you like it, wear it.
