Help with dress!!

Hi all

My mum is getting married in 2 weeks, and hasn't found a dress. She's a bit at her wits end and I feel like I spend every spare moment helping her.

Please help! There are several pre requisites below - all must be met or she poo poos them!

  • size 22
  • must be maxi / floor length
  • must have full length / at least 3/4 length sleeves
  • burgundy / maroon / dark red in colour
  • no splits up the side
  • budget up to £250
  • can be velvet, satin, whatever fabric but should look as dressy as possible
  • sequins are fine but she'd prefer no bows.

Please help. I will send many, many good vibes and also the winner will get a gift (if they're happy to dm me their address!!)

Happy hunting.......

Thanks in advance!! Smile

These arent necessarily my style but seem to broadly fit the brief! If she sees a style she likes in a paler colour could she dye it?

velvet john lewis dress

sequin/beaded john lewis

this monsoon dress doesnt have long sleeves but sleeves that cover the tops of the arms

Would she consider wearing a slip or similar underneath so that a split isn't an issue?

You guys are ace. I love the JL Gina one - she thinks the sleeves are too short. Confused I also think the ASOS one is ace - she thinks it's too young but I love it!

Oh that last Ever Pretty one is gorgeous! With the floaty skirt and ribbon waist band. And the price!!

fairlyurgentdresshelpneeded · 16/04/2021 21:12

The Ever pretty one looks gorgeous - she ordered 4 from there last week and the quality of them all is really, really poor which is a shame but they do look too good to be true I suppose!

Urgh. Can she not compromise on any of the criteria? Time for firm words with her! Grin

That cape dress is totally gorgeous.

The phase eight cape dress is nice, but it’s the wrong size @gracefull

81Byerley · 16/04/2021 23:23

The velvet dress recommended by @wanderedlonelyasacloud is the best of the lot! Gorgeous, very special.

gracefull · 16/04/2021 23:32

@Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin hi, I have read the reviews and the majority of people are saying it comes up a size big, which is why I still posted it. E.g. 14s are wearing 12s, which suggests 20 may well be closer to a 22.
