Do you use "honey" as a term of endearment for your partner?

I always think of "honey" or "hon" as an American term of endearment but I'm hearing it used more frequently here. And I've just seen it on an advert.

It's not one that I'd use, seems a bit unnatural to me. Does anyone use it for their other halves?

No, I call him love

cookiecreampie · 15/04/2021 19:34

No, I call mine either sexy or gorgeous. I've never used honey and I hate " babe".

Topseyt · 15/04/2021 19:34

No. It makes me want to puke. DH and I use rather more colourful language in our references to each other. GrinGrinWink

Nancylovesthecock · 15/04/2021 19:34

Darling mostly. Love, lovey, his actual name and babes in most use order.

MargotsBumpyNight · 15/04/2021 19:34

Darling or bawbag here

Nancylovesthecock · 15/04/2021 19:35

Oh and husband. 😂 I call him husband and he calls me wifey/wife 😁 its twee and I love it.

Billythecandlestickmaker · 15/04/2021 19:36

Love.

Or our real names when one of us is fucked off with the other.

VerityWibbleWobble · 15/04/2021 19:36

His actual name 99% of the time with the occasional dear chucked in.

LittleRa · 15/04/2021 19:37

I’ve heard “hun” more for women to address their female friends, as in “Thanks for that, hun” or “Good luck, hun!” etc. Rather than to a partner

JM10 · 15/04/2021 19:38

Nope. I think we are weird, we don't have pet names for each other.

I do have a close male friend who calls me hon every now and then I find it weird. I think because the only other time I see anyone say hon is Facebook drama followed by pm me hon.

Elouera · 15/04/2021 19:39

No way!

ScottishStottie · 15/04/2021 19:39

I have so many pet names for dp, but honey isnt one of them!

Most used is baby, followed by puppy, and sometimes i call him baby dinosaur...Blush

StevieG55 · 15/04/2021 19:41

Not with my dh we just use our names. I call my dd honey sometimes but I think I use darling a lot because she repeats it to her little sister. No darling don't do that you'll hurt yourself 😂

hilariousnamehere · 15/04/2021 19:42

Don't have a partner but was very confused when an American friend told me she had a Honeydo list - as in for her husband to do 😂 took us several messages to work out wtf the other one was thinking!

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 15/04/2021 19:43

Neither of is use honey.

I (male) call my partner (female) sweetie, or darling if she's teasing me, which is a lot. Or sometimes Skat, which is kinda 'darling' in her native Danish. Skat also means "treasure", which is lovely, and "tax", which is less lovely.

Another interesting facet of the Danish love language is that the verb for married is 'gift'... which also means 'poison.'

Frustratedbeyondbelief · 15/04/2021 19:44

Honey-pie and babe .. both in jest because they are irritating ...

My dc/dsc call me 'babe ' for the same reason. (Has to be shouted in an estuary twang ) although my teenage son has begun a worrying 'Mumzy' trend..

Then again we also try to sneak any form of 'live laugh love'(key rings, plaques etc) to each other's households because it's such a fatuous nonsense.. ..

Our genuine endearments are 'darling' and 'sweetheart'.

ExJasper · 15/04/2021 19:45

Skat is certainly an interesting word! So no takers for honey yet then.

No. 🤮

I call him lots of things, most of which are obscene.

LubaLuca · 15/04/2021 19:47

My elderly northern uncle calls me 'honey', which I think is lovely.

Notapheasantplucker · 15/04/2021 19:50

I hate the word honey, makes me nearly be sick in my mouth a bit.
I won't say what I call mine though Blush

DramaAlpaca · 15/04/2021 19:51

No, neither of us use that word. We're not big on terms of endearment like that, we usually just use each other's names.

pinkbowl · 15/04/2021 19:51

Sweetheart here. And it makes me go weak at the knees every time he calls me that 💖

Stellaris22 · 15/04/2021 19:53

Nope, but then we don't really do the terms of endearment thing anyway. I get that others like it, but if we started using these terms wouldn't be natural.

Umm... don’t search scat on urban dictionary... Confused
Mylittlesandwich · 15/04/2021 19:54

I call him 'hun' in person and honey by text but I know it's cringey and I don't do it outside.
