Lost AirPod suggestions?

Hi, nc as long-standing poster and have told family about this already. Wondering if anyone can think of anywhere to look. Can’t use the find my function as it won’t connect so must be dead now. I know it can’t have left this 1 room though... I went up to bed 2 nights ago and had both AirPods in. Listened to a few podcasts, the right one was uncomfortable the way I was laying so I took it out and either put it on my headboard shelf or next to me. I watched 1 video, took the other one out then plugged in my case to charge. I was absolutely sure I’d put them both in the case but I can’t have done. Wake up the following morning and go to unplug the case and plug in my phone to charge for a bit, open the case to get my AirPods out so I could listen to something whilst getting ready and they weren’t in there. Found the left AirPod on the floor right next to my bed. Can’t find the right one at all. I’ve changed my bedding, moved everything on my room floor, checked in between the bed and headboard and in the under bed storage... I’m perplexed. It can’t have vanished into thin air! Where would you be hiding if you were a single right AirPod? Sad

Stuck inside a pillow case.
Tangled up in PJ’s.
under the mattress but on the bed frame.
Is there a gap between the headboard shelf and the wall?
Have you moved the bed completely so you can check all the way underneath? It could be tucked behind a bed leg, wheel or whatever.
Do you have a cat? If so you won’t find it til Christmas!

PurpleSplodge · 15/04/2021 14:47

I came on to say between the mattress and frame. I lost my phone there for 2 weeks. Even changed the bed twice during that time. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Ha ha. Some months ago, one of my car keys disappeared. DP had moved my car for some reason and he was insistent that he had come in the house and put the key down on a flat surface (table, top of bookcase, utility worktop etc) but it couldn't be found. We searched the house, cars, coat pockets, behind and under everything etc etc. I refused to buy a new one because it's one of the whizzy coded ones that costs £££s and I knew the second I did that, the lost spare would turn up, so I just prayed it would turn up before I was inconvenienced due to no spare key.

It was only last week that DP had to reset the broadband router because it was playing up and found my car key behind it Grin.

We have several cats (some of our own and foster kittens). We can never find anything like that if it gets lost. Once DP was moaning that I had taken his highlighter pen and not put it back where he liked to keep it. I eventually found it at the other end of the house under a chair. One of the bastard cats had obviously had a great time pushing it around and leaving it well hidden.

Thank you all for replying! This is the exact bed I have https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/brimnes-bed-frame-w-storage-and-headboard-white-luroey-s59124616/ so it can't really be moved as it doesn't have legs as such, and it's propped against the wall with headboard as in pic 4. I really can't see how it could've got underneath the bed itself as the frame is right down to the floor but it has to be somewhere. I've checked in the gap underneath the headboard (if that makes sense) and there is stuff down there but not the AirPod. funnily enough I have 3 cats...

Next thing will be taking the mattress off then, I have checked and rechecked bedding as I only changed it last night thinking it would be tangled in there, and definitely not in my pjs.

This happened with my nowtv stick remote as well! It took me ages to get a replacement as they weren't in stock and you can only get them from nowtv directly not use any of the universal ones - the week I got a new one I found it Hmm

Hate to burst your bubble- but with a bed like that is COULD be anywhere in the frame, under the mattress, underneath the entire thing. So many crevices.
Do have any small children you can offer a reward too, if they find it?!

Oh bloody hell! Yes, good idea, will have to bribe ds with an ice cream!! I definitely can't fit under even with the drawers out (which I have already pulled out btw)

Throw several pound coins underneath - he gets to keep what they find but the air buds are yours!!

Monkeytapper · 15/04/2021 18:31

Maybe fallen down the toilet when you had a pee and flushed away?

weegiepower · 15/04/2021 18:36

I was going to say could you have gone to toilet and half asleep left it in there somewhere?
I feel your pain I've lost my air pods multiple times after falling asleep with them in!

Thanks everyone. I wondered the same about the toilet, can't see it in the bathroom but I am 100% sure that I took this one out. I specifically remember it being uncomfortable and doing the beep that signals the battery is almost dead so I thought I'll just take it out, I definitely didn't put it back in after this.

Well, I'm at a loss. Taken the mattress off, drawers out, pulled the frame away from the headboard and looked between/under everything. Even been through my bin. There is genuinely no way for it to have left the room. Thinking about it, between me taking it out of my ear and being unable to find it the next day, no cats ever went in my bedroom so that rules them out too. I could cry Sad

Any clothes that might have been on the floor that you’ve picked up and moved? Laundry basket? Dressing gown?

Bargebill19 · 15/04/2021 21:39

Have you tipped the bed up and looked under the base board? I’m wondering if when the frame was pulled away, the bud acted like a wheel and rolled with it ?

crackersncheeeeese · 15/04/2021 21:40

I once lost an earring, knowing full well I'd put them on the bedside table. I turned the bedroom upside down then systematically took everything out of my wardrobe to check pockets etc. Found it in a shoe that had been by the side of the bed and been put away in the wardrobe.

LittleMissNoSoPlump · 15/04/2021 21:43

I really feel your pain OP, I have not had much luck with my AirPods! I lost one and eventually found it in the outside bin! Then my dog chewed one and I had to buy a replacement and now I’ve completely lost both AirPods and the case! I’m an insomniac so really struggle without them but I have looked everywhere and still cannot find them! I’m going to have to put my marigolds on tomorrow and go through the bin again!! Here’s hoping that we both find our AirPods very soon!

IliveonCoffee · 15/04/2021 21:54

Check it hasn't balanced itself on the drawer runners, both on the bed and the drawers. Plus in the drawers.

The gap between the headboard and the bedframe, and under the head board. The support bars for the mattress.

Have you checked the headboard shelves? If I remember rightly it has little cable holes against the wall, check its not somehow wedged in there, or hanging off a cable you fed through.

Shake out your washing basket? Change the bedding and check it hasn't wormed its way into the quilt cover, or in one of the elasticated corners of the fitted sheet.

Check the edges of the room, to make sure you haven't flung it out of the bedding / clothes when moving stuff.

Nclostairpod · 16/04/2021 20:01

Thanks all. Still no luck with all of these suggestions. Even had my mum round today (support bubble) as she usually finds things straight away. We went over the entire room and upstairs. Sad

Pray to Saint Anthony of Padua. He’s the patron saint of lost things.
You have nothing to lose and air pods to gain.

Bargebill19 · 16/04/2021 20:07

Just a thought - if you have done any laundry since, check the washing machine throughly. And tumble dryer if used.

Muddledupme · 16/04/2021 20:12

Can you put a sock on the end of the Hoover pipe( I usually secure with an elastic band) and hoover with the crevice tool.I found the diamond from my engagement ring that way.

I have and will double check. Hope not though as it will be ruined if it has been in there!!
