Tightenings every 10 minutes and stabbing pains in cervix

Hi everyone I’ve been having regular tightenings lasting a minute each coming every 10 minutes, I’ve had 8 since 10.11 but now seems to be coming every 5 6 minutes and faster now not really painful can walk through them and talk so I don’t think I’m contracting but when it does tighten I get stabbing pains in cervix too? Could it it be BH or the start of early labour

Every labour is different, with my first pain got progressively more intense and was 12 hours start to finish with the last 3 or 4 in hospital.

With my second they started on a Monday night, petered out, I was 2 cm at my midwife appt next day, came and went until the Thursday night, he was born Friday morning.

FlibbertyGiblets · 14/04/2021 23:34

Are they the same tightenings and pains you had at 33 weeks, 34, 35, 36 weeks? Or does it feel somehow different this time?
Exciting!

wonderstuff · 14/04/2021 23:34

I'd make sure your bag is packed.

Kerry00 · 14/04/2021 23:37

No different they are coming a lot more I’m not getting a break from them, though pain is not getting worse it’s just uncomfortable and stabbing pains in cervix following

How exciting, that sounds like labour progressing. Are you ok? All ready and have people with you??

Kerry00 · 14/04/2021 23:46

Yes I’m fine thanks just unsure what’s happening hope it is something now and not BH, have bags packed since last week I’m ready when baby is

Good luck, OP!

wonderstuff · 14/04/2021 23:50

Sounds promising! Good luck, call labour ward if you're not sure. Trust your body.

FlibbertyGiblets · 14/04/2021 23:50

Squee! Best wishes, this could be it!

AvaCallanach · 14/04/2021 23:51

When I had my kids the antenatal classes Saud go for a walk when you are getting tightenings. If it's BH exercise stops them and if it's real labour it will help them get stronger. No idea if it's true but maybe walk around the block or the garden with DP?

Pieceofpurplesky · 15/04/2021 00:38

I would call the ward.

Kerry00 · 15/04/2021 00:54

Hi I’ve phoned ward to let them know, they said sounds like BHs because they arnt painful to take a bath then after to rest and lay on my left side to see if they ease that they could get sore if their every 5 minutes apart to keep an eye on things though if it doesn’t settle to ring back

Ooo. Take a bath, if you are in labour you'll get contractions in the water. If you don't, definitely bhs. Good luck Smile

Jobsharenightmare · 15/04/2021 01:04

Good luck! I don't know how other people manage to get out of the bath at this stage/size!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/04/2021 01:21

Good look Kerry, Congratulations

Kerry00 · 15/04/2021 01:40

Out of bath and in bed resting laying on my left side but still getting alot of tightenings but still no pain, don’t really want to ring back out as I’m not having pains I might try sleep and see how things go

Have you got a birthing ball? If you have, do some bouncing to ease the cramps, it could be your baby moving down to get ready for birth.
