Tightenings every 10 minutes and stabbing pains in cervix

Hi everyone I’ve been having regular tightenings lasting a minute each coming every 10 minutes, I’ve had 8 since 10.11 but now seems to be coming every 5 6 minutes and faster now not really painful can walk through them and talk so I don’t think I’m contracting but when it does tighten I get stabbing pains in cervix too? Could it it be BH or the start of early labour

I have one yes though I don’t have cramps or pains just a lot of tightenings really regular, though when I do use the ball It seems to give me sharp pains as I was on it earlier today

@Kerry00

Yes it’s my first
I'd be inclined to say bh then.

Hi OP

When DC2 was born I felt most of the pain in my cervix during contractions, I guess it was dilation. It felt so different from labour with DC1 that I didn't realise quite how far along I was until I felt the urge to push!

If the contractions are coming thick and fast I would advise calling again and don't downplay it. Best to go in and get checked.

It's your first baby and first labours tend to take longer BUT it's also possible to have a fast labour for a first baby.

Every woman is different and every labour is different. Follow your instincts as much as you can.

You've got this. Good luck!

Latent labour can take days with a first, its your body gearing up. I have had 6 children and despite "official" labour being 8 hours down to 3.5 hours, I was building up for a good 3 days before hand with all of them. It felt different to BH but didnt progress much until my waters broke each time, then I ended up in proper labour within an hour or so.

So try and relax and bear in mind that you are more likely to be overdue than early!

My contractions were all in my bladder, the bones of my bum & my thighs, almost like a combination of cystitis & bad period pain. The only way I could get even a bit comfortable was on my hands & knees with my bum in the air. Are they coming in any kind of pattern?

wonderstuff · 15/04/2021 09:33

How you doing this morning?

ShirleyPhallus · 15/04/2021 09:35

How are you getting on @Kerry00?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 15/04/2021 09:37

How’s things?

Brenna24 · 15/04/2021 09:40

My labour mostly was just stabbing pains in my cervix. Only the fact that they were regular and the intervals got shorter warned me that they were contractions. Good luck.

Tightenings have calmed down this morning still no pain but my left breast is very very sore to touch and when I breathe it’s just above my rib cage and have constant headache?

It may be worth ringing the ward or your midwife and getting your BP checked- sometimes that causes the headache you describe. That’s what they are there for so don’t worry about bothering them. Good luck.

Bellaphant · 15/04/2021 13:26

I had slow of latent labour with my first for nearly three weeks - I'd have whole days of contractions every 5 minutes, sickness, all sorts but the pain never got worse than about a 4 on the pain scale. It was so so tiring but apparently not uncommon, you may still be in for the long haul.

omgwhy · 20/04/2021 22:58

@Kerry00 how are you? Ok I hope x

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/04/2021 23:02

Is your baby here yet

BlackeyedSusan · 20/04/2021 23:03

I started stopped, started stopped, went to the hospital a couple of times, then when it did kick off it went very quickly.

Kerry00 · 21/04/2021 00:21

Still no baby crazy cramping yesterday which then slowed down and completely went away😒 thought it was the start of things, tonight though I have mad pressure like I need to poop was constant but has stopped when I got out of bed and walked around just waiting game now I suppose alot of false hope! hoping baby makes arrival soon x

Wheen I got that latest thing, I went to the toilet and pooed out a baby!

Kerry00 · 21/04/2021 00:26

Oh gosh That must have been a terrifying experience!

OP posts:
PyongyangKipperbang · 22/04/2021 23:41

The desperate need to poo is the pressure of the babys head on your bowel, usually happens at the start of the second stage. When you push, hold you breath and focus on doing the biggest shit of your life, that is where you need to put all your effort. You will be convinced that you will shit yourself (you might, I did with all of mine, its normal and not at all embarrassing) but the feeling that you are about to pepper the midwife with crap is actually your baby moving down the birth canal!

Birth is very.....earthy! But amazing :)

MrsMcCrimmon · 04/07/2021 14:17

I’m 41+5 and have been having contractions fairly regularly for about 5 weeks… I’m about 5cm dilated with no sign of active labour 😩

My baby is also breech so induction isn’t an option. I’ve been booked in for a c section this coming Friday. I’m also 41 yo so my OB is also concerned about that….

Anyone else had such a long latent phase?? With my first (20 years ago!) I was 16 hours start to finish so this is becoming a real emotional punishment!
