clothing brands for 'cool' teenagers?

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of a steer on what brands your teenagers are wearing if they're outdoorsy types but also wanting to be cool (or fetch or sick or whatever word is being used these days to qualify things NOT looking like yer ma bought them for you) Grin

I really don't want to wade through endless pages of asos as its quite frankly tedious as hell, so would prefer to have some brand names whose websites I can trawl through - both boys and girls, young teenage

any help much appreciated!

North Face should fit that bill. We’re northern though and usually a bit behind the times 😂.

freddiethegreat · 13/04/2021 11:29

Siksilk - not massively outdoorsy, but could be worn for outdoor stuff & definitely cool.

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 11:52

@LadyCatStark - see north face would be my go to but I just didn't want to run the risk of socially maiming them!

@freddiethegreat not heard of silk silk I'll go and check them out now, thank you!

Had a look at the silk silk website, its all very heavily branded which Id like to steer away from. Is Pull and Bear a reasonable bet for casual stuff? think summer camp stuff.

North face
Berghaus had got really popular with the teenagers round here also

Love51 · 13/04/2021 12:21

Is North Face cool for teens? I thought it was a bit middle aged! What do your teens think, @Hexinthecity

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 12:24

not for my teens - thats half the problem! its complicated - more of a fostering situation without going into too much detail

PULL&BEAR and Bershka are both acceptable in my teens world.

justwaydamin · 13/04/2021 12:28

Honestly I'd just play it safe with Nike or Adidas

Love51 · 13/04/2021 12:30

Tricky then as what one tribe finds cool another wouldn't countenance. Hopefully they'll be pleased with what you choose!

AiryFairy1 · 13/04/2021 12:31

Patagonia? So expensive though 😞

Puffalicious · 13/04/2021 12:33

I have 2 teen DS- one super cool (16) one more laidback (14).Super cool DS likes Pretty Green, Gym Shark, Underarmour, Vans, Champions, Huff (skate brand) but still up for Berghaus, Adidas, New Balance, Nike as he's sporty too. All jeans from H&M- really decent quality for decent price.

More laidback one will wear all of the above plus North Face, Superdry, Nicce (v affordable), Puma, Converse, Ellesse. Many of these brands, in particular, can be found on MandMsports online for great prices (just received brilliant Berhaus long tee for £15 and Adidas trainers for £30- both excellent).

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 12:41

@IAmTheDuke ooh berksha is looking good - its all so 90s - Jesus I feel old 😂

OP posts:
Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 12:43

eek @AiryFairy1 Patagonia are a bit steep for my pocket but all looks great though

@puffalicioius not heard of Niice before thank you.

Apparently North Face is for wanna be Road Men. Nope, me neither. Although they’re maybe a tougher type of Casual? Not acceptable anyways...

Try Iets Frans which is Urban Outfitters own brand.

Smallinthesmoke · 13/04/2021 12:49

Yes to Pull and Bear apparently

BrimFullOfAsher · 13/04/2021 12:49

Stone Island? Again expensive, and possibly road man too?

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 12:50

ooh urban outfitters! I'd forgotten all about them. I think north face is out by the sounds of things. I suppose I need to reset my practical think gin 40 something head from "I want them to have practical warm waterproof and durable clothing' To of course they wont wear anything practical - they'd rather freeze their tits off and look decent than be seen dead in sensible - so if I can shop cool and sneak a few warm layers and acceptable pieces in I'll be doing well

If you're looking at Pull & Bear, I'd look at H&M - especially for layering - hoodies, long sleeved tshirts, sweatshirts and as mentioned jeans. My almost 16 year old (she's quite with it Grin) lives in their basics, jeans. She also wears a lot of sports leggings - the best ones we've had are from O'Neills - just their black or navy ones.

shallIswim · 13/04/2021 12:52

Thought the coolest teens were into vintage/second hand and/or sustainable? The luckiest ones I know have Finisterre. Bit of a surfy vibe too which helps. Pricey mind.

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 12:52

ok enlighten me - what's 'road man'

hangs head in shame for being so out of touch

OP posts:
Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 12:54

@shallswim - thats kind of the vibe I think will suit, I'll look at finisterre - I can push the boat out on maybe one or two expensive things
