So Blackpool was absolutely packed with joyful people today!

The sea front full of happy families enjoying the blue skies and sunshine.
Every restaurant and pub jam packed outside with people.
The horse & trolleys were ferrying folk up & down the prom, tram stops with big queues.
The sea looked blue & calm. Great sea brows across to the Lake District.
The funfairs open and huge Ferris wheels were turning with people on.
Good to see some normality and happiness at last.
Not a mask in sight.
Not a single bit of SD
I hope this doesn’t mean another catastrophic wave.

Bet it was fabulous.

If trl a weird frisson of pleasure the other day when I passed a group of lads coming out of a supermarket with a load of beers.

FUN.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 12/04/2021 19:30

I felt 🙄

Chunkymenrock · 12/04/2021 19:34

Wtf, no masks and no social distancing? People have short memories. We're not even allowed in other people's houses yet. Sounds mental to me.

BerniesMittens · 12/04/2021 19:37

No masks and no social distancing? Hmm

Roll on the next lockdown.

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 12/04/2021 19:37

While we all know outdoors is low risk the no masks and no social distancing bothers me
I live nearby so this is yet another good reminder to avoid the town centre

x2boys · 12/04/2021 19:42

I live in Bolton it's about an hour's drive from Blackpool it's been a nice day today and lots of kids are still on Easter holidays ,I don't blame people getting out and about , hopefully the vaccine rollout will prevent another wave and increased admissions to hospital.

MrsTophamHat · 12/04/2021 19:43

Sounds lovely. I hope they all had a lovely day.

ParkheadParadise · 12/04/2021 19:46

Sounds good, it was bloody freezing where I am.

Saucery · 12/04/2021 19:48

Bet it was a bit parky on the front.

AliceBlueGown · 12/04/2021 19:50

Sounds good - love a trip to Blackpool. I guess you live in Blackpool OP? - must be nice to see.

TrustTheGeneGenie · 12/04/2021 19:50

You have never needed to wear a mask outside

Ime it's always a bit parky in the seafront 🤣
ineedaholidaynow · 12/04/2021 19:52

Should people be wearing masks on the trams?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 12/04/2021 19:53

The Lakes might have looked nice from a distance but they were bloody packed with caravanners, despite the fact it was -5°C overnight and has been snowing over the last few days! Just hoping it won't become a litter-strewn, traffic-jammed mess.

Sacreblue · 12/04/2021 19:53

Cold here too and no joy but peaceful tonight with a lovely bottle of Celeste, chin, chin 🍷

Can’t wait for sun - maybe tomorrow - but tonight the cats & I are socially distanced inside, a little joy wouldn’t go amiss!

FrasierCraneDay · 12/04/2021 19:55

Joyful people..... on a day out in Blackpool? I call troll Grin

AmelieTaylor · 12/04/2021 19:58

It was snowing here all morning. I should have gone out fir a walk, but I didn't. I'm regretting it now. I love the snow.

I'm glad people had a nice day, it's nice seeing happy people, but they do need to be, being careful. Being in arcades,on trans etc they should be wearing masks & SD where they can. None of us wants an uptick.

Foolintherain · 12/04/2021 19:59

When was it made compulsory yo wear a mask outside? I must have missed that law.

StealthPolarBear · 12/04/2021 20:03

Why do people want masks outside? Some people want this to go on forever don't they?

StealthPolarBear · 12/04/2021 20:04

Cases are highly likely to increase as restrictions are eased. As will cases of all those other diseases lockdown and social distancing have been protecting us from but we've never really taken any measures to stop people getting.
BluntlySpoken · 12/04/2021 20:06

Love it. Wish I was there

Riapia · 12/04/2021 20:08

At Blackpool?
Never.

itsgettingwierd · 12/04/2021 20:11

I went to chessington last year when it opened.

You didn't need masks all the time but did for queues, certain rides and had to SD.

And that was when you could eat inside (we didn't though as bought own food)

I'm not too bothered about masks outside or SD with family/friends because I trust them in regards testing and isolating etc .

I'm not sure I'm quite ready to be that close to strangers and no masks - even outdoors. And I can't work out if that's rational or not Confused

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/04/2021 20:16

From your description I'd almost want to visit. Fortunately I've been and know that is pure fantasy.

Blue sea my arse. Photo or it didn't happen!
