How would you deal with this absolute clanger?

Long story short, managed to view an Instagram story of someone who I was trying to discreetly stalk and now I have to see them every day. Too late for me to do anything about it, completely inappropriate crush on this person, absolutely dying inside. How do I style it out? Completely pretend it didn’t happen? Try to avoid talking to them ever again (not really do-able, but I can try). Stupid fat thumbs!

Surely if they didn’t want anyone other than their friends viewing their story, then their page would be private?

I thought you could only view someone’s story if you were friends with them or their page was public. Is that right?

I don't even check who has viewed my stories so he might not even know!

Or just say he popped up in the 'suggested for you' friends box.

I don’t check who has viewed my stories anymore so I bet they won’t even notice tbh! If they have quite a few followers it’s even less likely.

I don't see the problem - anyone can view stories (if not private). They don't know you are stalking them - just learn the lessons and style it out.

Can you not just follow him now? So it looked like you watched the story because you followed him and it came up at the top of your feed? Surely that would be a better explanation than ‘oh I was stalking you’ 😂

Why not use whatever you saw as a talking point of you are interested in the person?
If not carry on.

1. Hope they don’t look who viewed their story ( I don’t always look on mine )

1. Quickly add them now so it looks less stalkerish that you viewed the story

I can’t understand the drama.

Why is it such a faux pas to idly look at the Instagram stories of celebrities, people you know very well or people you are slight acquaintances of? What’s the difference?

The stories are put out there for any Tom, Dick or Harry to look at and the person has no idea why you chose to look at their story and quite frankly isn’t remotely interested that you did.
