Good morning Mumsnet! What are you all up to today?

I'm just finishing a cup of coffee then going to get dressed.

There's washing to be done, and dd1's school shirts to iron ready for Monday (but only if she actually hung them in my wardrobe as I asked her to!).

Dd2 wanted to start the mouldy bread experiment (the handwashing one), and her praying mantis needs feeding, so we'll do that.

Other than that, I think it'll be a lazy kind of day, pottering about the house. Hopefully I can finish my current crochet project!

Not a clue what's for tea yet but I'm looking forward to a nice glass of wine with whatever we do have.

What about everyone else? :)

I'm waiting for the frost to thaw so I can go out and clean the garden furniture and the cat carriers. I also need to feed the chickens, and check that the broody one still only has 6 eggs under her; sometimes one of the others will sit on her and lay an extra into the pile, which we don't want.

I have to pot on a load of tomato seedlings, though I don't know where I'm going to fit them; every sunny spot in the house is full already!

I need to take down the kids' curtains and drop them to my mum to get lining stitched onto them.

Oh, and Saturday is houseplant watering day, so I'll go and do that now.

Stew for dinner. The kids will moan.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/04/2021 10:03

DH is doing the weekly shop - as always on a Saturday.
I am hopefully on my last 5 days of not being able to use my foot properly and not doing any housework. I never thought I'd say this, but I am looking forward to cleaning!
Meanwhile I am searching the recipe for a special chily sauce, DH thinks he has stored on the computer. So far no luck!
For DC it is the last weekend before school and uni start again.

VenusClapTrap · 10/04/2021 10:07

I need to continue sorting and emptying out the utility room and kitchen, ready for the builders to come and smash things up. I need to put essentials in crates into the dining room so we can make a temporary kitchen, and everything else has to be stored upstairs. It’s a horrible job. There’s so much stuff in kitchens and utilities.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 10/04/2021 10:10

second COVID jab this afternoon. Yeah!

Should be doing some gardening before then - I have a courtyard garden and the pots all need refreshing - but it's very cold here, so not sure I'll make it.

Eggsley · 10/04/2021 10:35

DH has gone out to football as his U10 team have their first game back this morning.

DS1 is playing Fortnite and talking to his friend on a WhatsApp call upstairs.

DS2 is watching tv and dancing around.

I've just had tea and toast and am about to go and have a shower, then change the beds, then clean the goldfish out, then sort lunch out. We might go to the garden centre this afternoon for some new plants for the fish tank, and a shrub for the garden. Will probably watch a film tonight. I was thinking about taking the DC to the park later but it looks like it's about to rain here so we'll see.

Crunchymum · 10/04/2021 10:38

It's cold and grey here, DP is ar work and we've all had a busy week so I'm thinking a lazy day.

Although thus far my "lazy day" has consisted of x2 loads of washing, breakfasts all round, cleaning the shower and yesterday's washing up.

Will bake some biscuits with with kids later, probably pizza for dinner (shop bought if I make it out or ordered in if not)

DrMadelineMaxwell · 10/04/2021 10:38

The sun is shining after a few grey and cold days. And I'm off to drop shopping in at an aunt of dh, then I'm getting my hair done! They opened a couple of weeks ago in Wales but this is the date we moved the appointment to before we knew when they were reopening.
Can't wait to look less tousled!

Then I will be reading in the garden and chilling out. My sister lives in a flat with ko garden so she may come round for a cuppa later.

lucysmam · 10/04/2021 10:41

Prokupatuscrakedatus I'd be itching to clean by now as well!

Venus I sometimes wonder how I fit so much into my oddly designed kitchen. I've tried clearing it out before but find I use most of what's in here.

Eggsley hopefully the rain will hold off for you; it's trying to snow here!

Utterly my kids would moan about stew, too. Then come back for seconds 🤷‍♀️

TheTurn stay in the warm, with a cuppa Brew :)

Really I need to get off MN and stop procrastinating. The neighbour just came round to give me her keys for while they are away, and I was mortified about still being in my PJs. Didn’t help that last night I had one of those stupid dreams where you suddenly realise you are completely naked in a professional situation. In the dream I brazened it out Grin

Awrite · 10/04/2021 11:12

Coffee and Call My Agent so far.

I'll head out for a walk in a bit.

Podcast and a jigsaw later.

Taxi duty for teen tonight.

The usual Saturday.

H1978 · 10/04/2021 11:13

Had a well needed lie in so only got up about 10.

Just put a white load on and put some beef strips on to cook slowly for dinner tonight, we having loaded fries.

Resolved to take out my sewing machine today to do some clothing adjustments I’ve been putting off for months.

Might go out for a stroll depending on weather, it’s showing rain and snow at 3pm. Would have liked to take the dcs out for the day before school starts but they all have sniffles so want to avoid it getting worse and getting sent home from school.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 10/04/2021 11:16

I was supposed to be seeing a friend in the garden this afternoon but I've got a tummy bug and spent all night in the bathroom throwing up. Gutted.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/04/2021 11:29

Love these threads @lucysmam thanks for posting it!

Every plan I had is gone out the window: missed my early morning online HIIT class, have woken exhausted & in no form to do anything so I'm trying to shake my my malaise.

I should be doing the weekly shop but missed that too (booked a slot to avoid queuing) so have rebooked if for later & doing household tasks, one at a time, to lift the gloom that's on me.

I'll try & get a run in later, it's DD's 14 birthday, she's with my DB & DSIL now (she loves them!) so I'll catch up with her & them for a walk later too. Find kids' birthdays hard as a single parent, miss being in a family set up where we can reminisce about the days they were born etc.

Lucysmam what happened with the crickets a few weeks ago?!

EarringsandLipstick · 10/04/2021 11:30

That sounds nice Awrite (bar taxi service maybe).

I find it really hard to just ... stop - what I'd really like to do is sit & read my book (Last House on Needless Street) without moving but somehow can't 🤷🏻‍♀️

lucysmam · 10/04/2021 11:32

Ha, I'd forgotten all about the crickets! They eventually went to a friend with a gecko. The gecko is currently living at her mum's house though and her mum took one of the lids off to feed him 🤣 I was reliably informed they're quite hard to round up again!

Great! I loved that story & your dilemma about the crickets!!
Howmercurialislife · 10/04/2021 11:37

Having just been to vets and paid over £100 for pain relief and antibiotics (I have to go back on Monday for more) I shall be spending the weekend waiting and hoping for DDogs infected anal gland to burst...oh the glamour!

lucysmam · 10/04/2021 11:39

I felt so bad just leaving them sat in their tubs chirping away to themselves! 🙈

Up since 7am despite the Easter holiday (teacher but haven't managed to sleep in properly yet).
2 loads of washing on and out on the line.
Walked dog and convinced teenage DD to come with me, which was a rare treat and a good catch up.
Spent an hour doing data stuff and interventions for my class next year (trying to get planning and admin done and dusted this week so I can properly enjoy the 2nd).
Now sitting with a coffee thinking about waking teenage DS so he can get on with revision - A Level assessments after the holiday, and wondering of I should catch up on Line of Duty or crack on with the work...

MummyInTheNecropolis · 10/04/2021 11:52

I’m having a lazy morning just scrolling through mumsnet/Facebook etc while waiting for DD to wake up (lazy teen!) Once she’s up we’ll make a nice brunch together of bacon, eggs, hash browns, avocado for her and mushrooms for me. Then we’ll probably snuggle on the sofa and watch a film. Not much else planned really.

legosnowqueen · 10/04/2021 12:03

Thanks for the thread @lucy'smam

Early start taking Legopup for a walk. It's a lovely bright, crisp day here.

2 loads of washing done & on the line, tidied kitchen, read paper, FaceTimed DB in Shanghai (really missing my family overseas at the moment).

DS age 15 emerged for a late breakfast & will walk Legopup with me later.

Tea is M & S curry so an easy day, followed by jigsaw & a few glasses of wine for me & DH & most likely the Xbox for DS. A nice relaxing Saturday Smile

Ninkanink · 10/04/2021 12:06

I knew this was a @lucysmam thread! Smile

Thesagacontinues · 10/04/2021 12:09

You just reminded me I need to take my washing out of the washing machine.

I've been to town with 2 DC this morning in search of a hurley and couldnt find one.

Have my food delivery coming this evening. I cant remember what I ordered so dinner will be a surprise.

Will watch the grand national later today.

Other than that the day will be BrewBrewBrewWine

Ninkanink · 10/04/2021 12:13

We’ve had coffee in bed.

We’ve had tea in bed.

DH is researching options for things we need doing in the house.

I’m pretend shopping on eBay (only pretend as I’ve already splurged this month).

Later I will make Korean-inspired omelettes for lunch.

Then we will bundle up and go for a walk.

Later on in the afternoon DH will play PS4 games and I will sort through some stuff to list on eBay (to replenish my eBay treasure hunting fund).

Dinner will be leftover vegetable chilli from the freezer, plus leftover chicken and med veg, plus some homemade garlic flatbreads and a salad.

This evening we will hopefully find a good film to watch.

ChilliChaos · 10/04/2021 12:16

Lazy-ish day today.

Dd(17) wants to cook a Christmas dinner for Lunch tomorrow so we’re off to Aldi later. Ds(16) is still asleep after staying up all night playing Xbox with his best friend, who now lives in the USA.
Ds(3) is on his iPad - he has non verbal ASD, and used his PECs card to ask, which was a first! so he can stay on it all day if he wants!
Dd(1.5) has emptied the book shelf and is happy ‘reading’ to herself. She’s in an ‘I can do it alll by myself’ phase and won’t let me do anything for her 😂

I’ve cut out some patterns and have a few dresses and summer shorts/T-shirt’s to sew later on when the small ones are in bed which I’m looking forward to - love when the weather changes as it gives me a chance to let my creativity shine!
