MrsE, where did you hear that please?

SloeSummer · 01/05/2021 22:07

@110APiccadilly

I think The Principle of Cows sounds like an Alexander McCall Smith book.

Pleased to report that I had a very helpful phone conversation with the GP yesterday about my back (and what painkillers I can take and carry on feeding) which was a relief. The GP I had when I first had a back problem was not helpful at all, so great to have a more supportive one.

Glad you got something sorted.
MrsEWeatherwax · 01/05/2021 22:59

It was in local paper. The northern echo. I know the person shouldn’t have organised it but the teenagers obviously needed the release.
I have no skin in the game, just think a good talking to, would have been enough.
Don’t actually agree with balloons releases but it’s a bit late to be worried about plastic after the amount of waste this year. Masks/gloves etc

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/05/2021 07:27

Χριστός ανέστη!!
I made it through lent without booting anyone through lack of sugar/booze/meat etc for the last few weeks.

Feels really strange not having a big celebration but have a zoom call with some of my family later. Though given the time difference they'll probably be too full of wine and lamb to talk 😁
Anyway off to celebrate best we can.

110APiccadilly · 02/05/2021 07:55

Happy Easter Livin! Or, as they say round here, Pasg Hapus!

TabbyStar · 02/05/2021 08:05

I'm going out for brunch this morning with friends! Hoping it's not too cold....

This is what The Times is saying this morning about mask wearing after 21 June:

"Legally enforced rules on masks are likely to be replaced with advice about the places where people should consider covering their faces. Many retailers and transport operators are likely to choose to retain their own rules on masks. The NHS is expected to continue to insist face coverings are worn in hospitals and GP surgeries."

I really hope most places decide not to enforce them, I suspect it might depend on the age profile of customers / clients.

WouldBeGood · 02/05/2021 10:35

@TabbyStar I think the public will not want to Leto wearing masks if they’re not compulsory so hopefully they’ll die a (non-sad) death!

WouldBeGood · 02/05/2021 10:35

Keep! Not Leto 🙄

smallandimperfectlyformed · 02/05/2021 11:43

Happy Easter LivinLaVidaLoki glad you can enjoy all of your yummy things that you gave up for Lent! TabbyStar I am an optimistic person about this matter, so many of us are fed up of wearing masks now....particularly people like me who wear glasses and are sick of them steaming up all of the time! Shops will notice people choosing to go to the places where they are not required and ultimately they will want customers. I have no problem if others want to wear masks but as soon as the obligation is lifted I will not be wearing one!!

justasking111 · 02/05/2021 12:49

The Welsh NHS are plastering messages all over the media, if somewhere is busy stay home 😂😂

justasking111 · 02/05/2021 12:53

Happy Easter!

We were in Greece for our Easter a couple of years ago. We took the precaution of taking some Easter Eggs over, then hid them in our room. The DCs spotted them and DH tried to rehide them... he had the "smart idea" of hiding them in the bedroom bin under the bin liner...
It was a proper "I told you so" moment and he ended up driving around a moderately sized island trying to find replacements!

It must have been a tough year for Lent. I noticed that New Year Resolutions and Lent intentions were rather thin on the ground on social media for some reason...

@justasking111 in the lower message it says, "making sure we've got a mask..." Just one? Between how many? Are we supposed to pass it round?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/05/2021 16:03

Just seen this on BBC news. Close contacts of people with covid could soon no longer have to isolate.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56958885?at_medium=custom7&at_custom1=%5Bpost+type%5D&at_custom3=BBC+News&at_custom2=facebook_page&at_custom4=06219FF2-AB17-11EB-92D2-54FC923C408C&at_campaign=64

Was going to open it up for discussion over there but I'm busy checking my lamb and enjoying a glass of wine, so that will either kill my buzz or I'll get accused of being some kind of troll if I don't respond to every single message within five mins. Which would also kill my buzz. So.....meh fuck em.

SloeSummer · 02/05/2021 16:58

Re the BBC comments, I think there will be several test balloons going up over the next couple of weeks.

MercyBooth · 02/05/2021 18:05

The way some of the blue tick brigade have behaved is quite frankly disgusting. They have been able to do things such as the above because the rules are different for those in the TV and entertainment industry while branding the public covidiots. Utter hypocrisy.
While also running polls (on GMB) like "should you grass up your neighbour" for breaking Covid laws.
The way some of the media medics have behaved by using derogatory terms against the public is not on either.
Unless they actually want the public to start thinking "maybe if the NHS is privatised and i am thought of as a paying customer rather than a covidiot or someone who must have caught Covid because i was breaking the rules, i might be seen as a human being rather that a NHS user who has some dubious moral failing because i get ill with Covid, OR a selfish bastard just because i want to see a parent at Christmas" Overheard the latter on Friday. What they have put the public through is already showing signs of serious consequences.

MercyBooth · 02/05/2021 18:11

Sorry i copied and pasted that post from elsewhere. *above refers to people in the TV and entertainment industry being able to do things like get their hair done and carry on as normal while criticizing the public.
Someone over on the other board actually used Rita Oras birthday party she had during lockdown as proof that lockdown hasnt been as strict here. Yes you read that right. A CELEB was used as an example to prove it hasnt been that bad.
As if we are allowed to do the same as a celeb FFS

MercyBooth · 02/05/2021 18:11

So its my post but copied and pasted from elsewhere.

savethegrannies · 02/05/2021 18:35

I saw the Rita Ora thing @MercyBooth
It did seem a rather silly example for somebody to bring up 🧐

Taswama · 02/05/2021 18:51

Happy Easter @LivinLaVidaLoki !

I've eaten out three times now. First place, pub we had booked (mid week, really needn't have bothered), second place : wear masks until sat down, make sure you use T&T (I held my phone up), third place: no masks, no mention of T&T, there was a poster on the wall but no one suggested/ insisted, they don't take reservations so no details left.

Third place was definitely the most relaxing.

MercyBooth · 02/05/2021 19:05

Happy Easter @LivinLaVidaLoki

SloeSummer · 02/05/2021 20:12

Taswama do you mean you just pretend to scan?

I've been chatting to friends this weekend and they've all been asked to order via app so they'd get caught in the net that way.

TabbyStar · 02/05/2021 21:37

We went to a café yesterday to get a coffee and a sandwich to take out, and the longest we were anywhere near anyone was the woman at the front desk who stood over us whilst we wrote our names down. Seems counter-productive really, otherwise we weren't within two meters of anyone. Utterly utterly pointless.

I don't understand this at all. Sorry, I seem to say that a lot on here 😂

Isn't getting a takeaway just..getting a takeaway?

You go and collect it, if there's a queue you wait a bit. Surely a takeout coffee and sandwich is the same?
