I saw George Sampson once.

@DDIJ - I think we may have lived in the same block of flats, CC? Some of the things I used to hear, and the evidence sometimes thrown out of the window... Confused

Ilovelblue · 07/04/2021 22:02

Oh and Martin Shaw in a restaurant in Bath
Monty Don in a restaurant in Knutsford

Several MPs, actors and local T V presenters.
All of whom I have greeted as if I knew them, only realising afterwards where I knew them from, and that they did not know me from Adam.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 07/04/2021 22:04

Yes - but I used to work in an area where we had lots of wealthy customers. Christiano Ronaldo once blocked our drive in his flashy car and the parking warden asked for his autograph instead of ticketing him!

Literally bumped into Chris Evans (ginger not Cpt America) in Chinatown in London. I turned a corner and wasn't looking as I was talking to a friend. He was also talking to one of his (huge) entourage and we collided. He's very tall.

Sid Owen (Rickaaaay) at the Blue Rooms in Bath. He was a regular there and usually barged his way to the bar literally saying 'do you know who I am'. But then was pissed off when people would holler 'Rickaaaay' at him.

Andy Day (of Dinosaur et al Adventures) was in front of us in the queue to collect our Wicked tickets from the box office at Bristol Hippodrome. I was a bit excited about that. I got a selfie with him in the box office and was a hero on the school gate the next morning after sharing it on the mums WhatsApp group. He ended up sat in the row behind us, but at the end. Directly behind us was Justin Lee-Collins.

I used to live in Borehamwood so pretty much the entire cast of EastEnders circa 1992. Gillian Tayleforth (Kathy) used to drive round with her child on her lap.

Robert Lindsay parked next to us at a services on the M4 (roughly near Reading).

I swear Cuba Gooding Jr walked past me just off Times Square.

Frank Bruno and the entire cast of Birds of a Feather on Wimbledon Common (at different times)

DH was in the same pub as Chris Tarrant years ago, two tables over.

FrangipaniBlue · 07/04/2021 22:05

Germaine Greer was behind me in the queue for the toilets at Dubai airport

Alma2021 · 07/04/2021 22:05

In London, all the time. On the streets or in shops quite often: Elton John, Hugh Grant, Liz Hurley, Kate Middleton, Pippa Middleton etc

Susie477 · 07/04/2021 22:06

John Barnes at Earl’s Court tube station. He had a Paul Smith suit carrier over his arm. I assume he was on his way to do some TV work.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/04/2021 22:06

Brian May (World's Best Guitar Player) I think he's Dr Brian May ?

Tottenham Court Road . I looked at him and recognised him but couldn't place him. (Just thought ooh he's really tall'n'thin )
DH said "Oh that'd Brian May" and he (Brian) gave me a really nice goofy grin.

Do I win?

MrsTophamHat · 07/04/2021 22:06

Nigel Havers

theluckiest · 07/04/2021 22:06

@LookAChicken

The Queen and Prince Philip, though they were in a limousine! Just off for an evening engagement somewhere, it was surreal.
Ooooh, me too!!!! Me & a friend were waiting for a taxi in a practically deserted Glasgow for an early flight.

Her Madge and Phillip whizzed past in a limo. Friend and I just looked at one another in a 'was that who I think it was' way.

Saw Chris Evans on his way to the pub in his crazy-week-long-bender days too.

ladygindiva · 07/04/2021 22:07

Sort of. Joely Richardson asked me for directions once on a country lane.

MrsTophamHat · 07/04/2021 22:07

Also was behind Keith from Boyzone in a queue at Heathrow

ladygindiva · 07/04/2021 22:07

And joely looked amazing. Even out for a walk.

emmetgirl · 07/04/2021 22:08

Rob Brydon at Heathrow T5

bevelino · 07/04/2021 22:08

In and around Notting Hill you see lots of celebs.

kerkyra · 07/04/2021 22:08

Peter from corrie chatting to two men in the street in York. He was alot smaller than I'd imagined but better looking!

Cactus1982 · 07/04/2021 22:08

Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee

stevematekatemate · 07/04/2021 22:09

The Queen and PP. Well, they were in a car on Charlotte Square in Edinburgh.

John Leslie he was entering a pub as I was leaving. Again, Edinburgh. Ditto Ally McCoist.

Bob Geldof. Sat next to him on a plane.

Billy Connolly walking past the Sydney Opera house.

Ed Harris in a lift in Las Vegas.

gabsdot45 · 07/04/2021 22:09

Yes. I saw Bono and The Edge coming out of a pub in Dublin about 30 years ago and I saw Adam Clayton at Dublin airport.
I also saw Gabriel Byrne and Ellen Barkin, also in Dublin.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 07/04/2021 22:09

No but I live in a South Yorkshire town so not likely unfortunately

theluckiest · 07/04/2021 22:09

@Rolypolyfishheads

Ian Puleston-Davies in the Arndale Centre, Lorna Laidlaw at Birmingham New Street station, we got on the same train. Walked past Tony Robinson in a motorway services and Jason Gardiner in London. I love Lorna Laidlaw but I was too nervous to approach her!!
I used to work with Lorna!!! She's absolutely lovely. If you see her again, definitely say hello.
WeatherwaxOn · 07/04/2021 22:10

Phill Jupitus at a wildlife place once. He was with his family so I left him alone.
Have met Michaela Strachan at a similar event, and she was absolutely lovely.

grapewine · 07/04/2021 22:11

Often while in London. Derek Jacobi most memorably.
