Have you ever fallen asleep holding something

I have CFS/M.E and quite often doze off reading with the book in my hand. I've dropped my phone on my face many times whilst in bed. I've also launched my tablet across the room once and smashed the screen when jolting awake. Drinks have been spilled on me (and one on my laptop Shock).

I seem to have made quite the habit of it lol

I once woke up clutching a toddler shoe after one wild night out in college. I didnt have any children and nobody had any idea about where I found this small shoe 😂😂

I fell asleep at the cinema once. Woke up to find the movie over and popcorn all over me. Worst thing was the cinema lights were on by this point and everyone must of seen my mess. Dd was laughing loads Grin

A cigarette. I woke up when I dropped it on my chest and burnt myself, luckily, or I might not be here to tell the tale.

My cat's paw when he was ill. He took to sleeping on the pillow by my head.

Dropped my daughter as a newborn while night feeding her. She slipped from my arms and slid down the duvet onto the floor, I was woken by her crying and it took a while to realise what the sound was coz I was so exhausted I'd forgotten I'd had a baby!

duvetdreaming · 08/04/2021 07:27

My kindle has hit my nose on more than a few occasions.

LittleToasterx · 08/04/2021 10:13

I'm very surprised about how many of you have admitted to falling asleep holding DD/DS. I did it once myself with DD1 sitting on the sofa. She tumbled to the floor and started to cry. Thankfully unhurt but I was mortified about it. Didn't tell anyone about it for years, not even DH. I'm glad none of your babys got hurt 🙂

I fell asleep with my chamomile tea the other night. Woke up as I was tipping it over myself. Fortunately it hadn't hit the bed.

I get worried thinking about people nodding off at traffic lights! That's a problem I would investigate rather than risking lives because of a 'quirk'!

Mrsmchammer · 08/04/2021 21:13

A gravy chip which I had been eating on the floor of my halls bedroom many years ago. Not a drop spilt🤣

Husband's penis
I was thinking this, so glad I'm not the only one to immediately think of it Grin

Years ago I was so exhausted I sat on the bed fully clothed ready to put on pyjamas with a book in my hand. I woke up at 6am the following morning with all the house lights on including my bedside lamp, still fully clothed and still holding the book!

Thefamilybusiness · 08/04/2021 22:01

I was starting to get worried I was the only one Grin

NiceGerbil · 08/04/2021 22:05

I don't 'drop off' as a rule but the one time...

Had a section for DD1 and was on morphine. The back of the bed was so I could sit up and was feeding her. The curtains were drawn around.

Next thing I know they're being opened by the person with breakfast.

I must have been conked out in a drugged sleep for hours with my newborn just balanced on my chest. Those beds are pretty high.

Terrifying but luckily she didn't fall off.

NiceGerbil · 08/04/2021 22:06

My friend at university once had a few vodkas before a party in the halls common room, on the way down she went to the loo, and conked out. Woke up at 3am still perched on the bog having missed everything Grin

RoseMartha · 08/04/2021 22:12

Usually a book, my phone or the tablet.

BarryTheChopper · 08/04/2021 22:21

Almost every night I fall asleep with my kindle in hand and my glasses still on. I get very little warning about falling asleep. One minute I’m fine, the next it’s morning.

I had a supermarket job as a student and fell asleep on a checkout after an all nighter. An old lady had to wake me up, I was still scanning!

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 08/04/2021 22:28

Most recently an Easter egg, I was nibbling at the chocolate during a day time rest (lying down due to pain and comfortable positioning) and dropped off mid Easter egg, smooshed it across the pillows, my clothes, hair, face and bedding.

What was worst was I was wakened by the doorbell and I just grabbed my glasses and stumbled to the door to open it. I only realised what had happened as Asda delivery driver looked at me shocked and then I looked in the hallway mirror. I grabbed a cloth and started cleaning up as I unloaded the groceries.

LunaNorth · 08/04/2021 22:31

A vibrator. I woke up with a numb fanny Blush

Deathraystare · 09/04/2021 09:31

I often drop a book on my face!

Years ago after coming in late I would attempt to clean my face and wake up at 5am still holding a mirror with some gloop half heartedly smeared over an eye!
