Best ever episodes of TV comedy?

CheekyWeeShite · 06/04/2021 10:37

Was watching (for the 8 millionth time) Community and thinking about the best ever episodes of TV comedy.

Rules are you can only pick one episode from each programme, five shows in total. I’m going with:

Community - Glee / Invasion of the Body Snatchers episode (season 3, episode 10) (this is a very difficult one as there are so many)

30 Rock - MILF Island (season 2, episode 11)

Arrested Development - Afternoon Delight (season 2, episode 6)

Parks & Recreation - Ron & Tammy Part 2 (season 3, episode 4)

Party Down - Steve Guttenberg’s birthday (season 2, episode 5)

What are yours?

The episode of fawlty towers when the major thinks the moose head is talking to him (it's Manuel talking) the first time I watched that I was literally rolling around on the floor crying with laughter, comedy gold.

Red Dwarf: Quarantine
IT Crowd: Gay musical
Cuckoo: Ivy Nanny
Bottom: Gas man
Father Ted: Song for Europe

FruityPolos · 09/04/2021 08:43

I've remembered another one, and as I only chose 3 in my earlier post I thought I would add it!

The episode of Stath Lets Flats where they have the estate agent awards. Especially the ending, I laughed for ages at that 😁

Close call between Father Ted's Cigarettes and Alcohol and Rollerblading, and A Song for Europe

Phoenix Nights Family Fun Day one

Red Dwarf Back to Reality

Bottom Carnival, mainly as best friend and I love quoting it:

"Eddie we were looting why not get a free telly with the telly? Cause It'd sink in the bath!"

"Go on have another hob nob. Oooo you are evil"

"Tony Blair is a man!"

I could quote it all day Grin

FionnulaTheCooler · 09/04/2021 10:37

Father Ted - The Old Grey Whistle Theft, the one with Father Damo.
This Country - Kurtan's Half Brother. I was absolutely creased at Big Mandy reading out her creative writing efforts to the book club.
Friday Night Dinner - The one with Lord Luck. "Bugger off, bugger off and you can bugger off too."

MyHouse2011 · 09/04/2021 15:46

Frasier - the Ski Lodge, obviously

The Thick of It - Spinners and Losers ("You're about as secure as a hymen in a South London comprehensive!')

I think you and would be be great friends, @Thurlow 😁

PatrickBatemann · 09/04/2021 16:43

Peep Show - The dance class episode

Frasier: Merry Christmas, Mrs. Moskowitz

lots33 · 09/04/2021 17:02

The good life Christmas one when Margot gets pissed!

AgeLikeWine · 09/04/2021 17:06

Brass Eye - Paedogeddon.

The single funniest, cleverest, most satirical programme I have ever seen. The hysterical fury of the hypocritical tabloid backlash against it was almost funnier than the show itself.

There is absolutely no way any broadcaster would ever get away with that today.

Andylion · 09/04/2021 17:07

The Peep Show, Mark's wedding, where Jeremy wants to piss in the prayer bucket.

ShowOfHands · 09/04/2021 17:12

OP, I've never heard of any of the shows you mention!

dinnerladies - "Gamble" when Tony and Bren kiss for the first time
Black Books - the first one ever
Blackadder Goes Forth - the last one
