I think we need details.

My incident had nothing to do with bad luck. Sheer stupidity and carelessness and no, Shiny, it wasn’t plastic, it was an actual tin. I’d heated some milk for hot chocolate but failed to switch the induction hob off. Left the biscuit tin on the hob. Came back into the kitchen to find it very fume-y with the base of the biscuit tin glowing red and half the paint burned off it. Switched the hob off (obviously 🙄) but when I opened the biscuit tin smoke literally poured out of it! Slammed the lid shit and chucked the whole thing in the bin. Did not reveal what I had done to Mr FB.

There was a very awkward moment a few minutes later when he asked for another biscuit...

I had been shopping & bought a frozen gateaux for after tea (I didn't bake as much then). We had an electric cooker with a metal hinged top that came down over the hot plates & I put the gateaux on top of it, still in the box, to defrost.

Now, We always switched the cooker off at the wall switch so dc didn't turn it on by playing with the knobs. Unbeknown to me, dh had been a lazy arse & not turned an individual ring off earlier, just used the wall switch. I had put the switch on as needed the oven, put dinner in & went off to do something, shutting the kitchen door behind me.

I hear dh shout, so go towards the kitchen & see smoke everywhere as he turfs a flaming boxed gateaux out the door into the garden.

The electric ring had come on with the oven & it happened to be under the gateaux, and hence got rather hot & set fire to the box. It was the confusion of how could a frozen cake be on fire!

Yes I’ve got that running through my head on repeat. And I know I can’t complain compared to you guys, who’ve kept working, but I still am!🤣. Yes I’ve had the first jab.

Well I am a work from home person so I have had the best of it .., low risk, get paid and something to do during the long lockdown days
