When signing off from an email? We have varying answers in my house, so interested in other opinions. And yes, we're a bit bored ...

Yours

Best wishes

Kind regards

Faithfully

Regards

Sincerely

Respectfully

I look forward to hearing from you

Initial only i.e. 'H'

I see what you did there, definately Wink

What are people's opinions of Rgds?

TurkeyTrot · 05/04/2021 11:53

The big boss of my company signs off BW. Can't even be bothered to write best wishes in full or their name.
I always read it as a hand gesture.

ThePricklySheep · 05/04/2021 11:55

I do ‘many thanks’ but I think some people read that as sarcastic.
I see a lot of ‘thanks’. Interestingly I always add a comma after thanks, as it seems much friendlier.

Thanks

Sheep

Thanks,

Sheep

Like BW, FFS just type the extra few characters you wanker.
TheTurn0fTheScrew · 05/04/2021 12:01

I send "best wishes" in almost all circumstances, "cheers" to close colleagues, regardless of whether I'm cross/pleased/indifferent.

Agree with the "BW" hate though. Just don't sign off at all if you're in enough of a rush that those 9 extra characters are an imposition.

HermitsLife · 05/04/2021 12:02

Haha, I was just wondering because I see it a lot and it is a but of a fuck you. I wonder why people bother with it if its such hard work.

Gingernaut · 05/04/2021 12:06

Faithfully, Sincerely or I look forward from hearing from you - please find my CV and cover letter. I really need a job

Regards - I will block you after this. I am so sick of your shit

Kind regards - I am losing patience with you, but need to stay on your good side.

needadvice54321 · 05/04/2021 12:08

@Evergibbon

Regards = I want you dead by tea time
Jeez I class myself as a nice person but I always sign off with regards!! ShockGrin
SnoopyOnALude · 05/04/2021 12:12

Regards = I have no personality
Kind regards = I’m a people pleaser

Rgds = I wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire
BarbaraofSeville · 05/04/2021 12:15

I currently use Best regards but I am going to start using just 'regards' with the hidden meaning of 'if you are irrational enough to look for something that isn't explicitly said then I don't give a fuck what you think I mean so there'.

Dustyhedge · 05/04/2021 12:19

I look forward to hearing from you

Reply ASAP. This was not a request but a command and you will feel my wrath if I do not hear from you by lunchtime.

Initial only i.e. 'H

I am too busy and important to even write my full name.

Steptoeshorse1965 · 05/04/2021 12:26

Usually end with just "Cheers" From me, and my initial, for other stuff, best wishes, or kind regards.

No stuffy stuff here.

Chemenger · 05/04/2021 12:29

Absolutely this. Who has the energy to microanalyse this stuff?
HunterHearstHelmsley · 05/04/2021 12:30

I use "regards" on work emails. It means "I'm only talking to you because I am paid to". I used to a say "kind regards" but dropped the kind as I don't regard them kindly!

ScarfaceCwaw · 05/04/2021 12:31

I just write "Thanks, Scarface" for a first or more formal email, and for subsequent or colleagues I know well I just sign off with my initials. Nobody's made a thing of it yet.

Xiaoxiong · 05/04/2021 12:34

I do Best Regards when I don't know someone for the first email, then shift to "Best" ! No idea why - I think it was a thing when I started work? Wondering if it's coming across as aggressive now.
Best,
Xiao Grin

MrsBungle · 05/04/2021 12:34

My signature says Kind Regards. I don’t type it each time. On very rare occasions I do actively delete the ‘kind’ when someone has really pissed me off

dementedma · 05/04/2021 12:51

In my work, I getots signed off with "Yours Aye"

GreyhoundG1rl · 05/04/2021 12:55

@Watto1

Dropping the ‘kind’ from ‘kind regards’ translates as ‘I am really pissed off with you’
Really?! I don't think so. Emails are far less formal.
SuperintendentHastings · 05/04/2021 12:59

Gosh - really? Always use that as standard for everything!
JackieTheFart · 05/04/2021 13:02

My work email says Kind regards.

Personal says Thanks.

Neither mean anything other than it would be abrupt to sign off with just my name!

SuperintendentHastings · 05/04/2021 13:03

Well we do @Chemenger! 😆 but more in the way of just a random conversation rather than using up a lot of energy tbh. I did wonder if I needed to put 'lighthearted' in the OP, maybe I should have!
