Do you have any plans or is it going to be a quiet easter this year?
@Cowbells radio and tele here as well, pp mentioned some churches were open but mine isn't.

Supermarkets shut Friday and Monday? Or Sunday?
Bloody hope not, I need to do my food shop Friday night after work!?

SuperintendentHastings · 01/04/2021 18:12

Well my family are 400 miles away in Scotland so it'll just be my own family here. Easter egg hunt in the morning for DCs (oldest is 17 but what the hell! 😊)

Late lunch of Chicken Balmoral, mash, asparagus and mustard sauce. Simnel cake for pudding.

Then we'll just watch a film or something.

justasking111 · 01/04/2021 18:14

@Kittens30

Does anyone decorate for Easter? Or do crafts etc?
I ordered a lot of bits from the Works for the grandchidren who enjoy doing bits and bobs. I no longer do it for our home.

Mini egg hunt and apparently we must eat real eggs for tea, so bacon and eggs it is! Oh and we'll have to watch the new Tom and Jerry movie apparently.
(all driven by the 8yo in the house)

mbosnz · 01/04/2021 18:17

Mine are 12,000 miles away, so we won't be meeting up - borders are closed as well Smile. I'm glad Mum will be with my sister and her family for the weekend, at their lovely seaside home, with good food, and good wine.

Here on t'other side of the world, we have each other, a tight whanau/family of four, and we'll have an NZ leg of lamb roast, with all the trimmings, a bit too much of wine, far too much of chocolate, and molten chocolate pots for dessert.

(Supermarkets open Friday and Saturday, is my understanding from having just googled. . .)

Frownette · 01/04/2021 18:17

COVID has completely confused me with when things normally shut

Alfaix · 01/04/2021 18:18

Grandparents round for roast lamb. Supposedly in the garden but unless it’s 16C plus we will be indoors.
Only 6 of us though - 3 fully vaccinated and 2 with one dose. DS will be lateral flowed a couple of times.
Normal life has to resume at some point, we cancelled Christmas because of Covid and now we have vaccines DS needs to see his family.
Not sorry.

DrunkenKoala · 01/04/2021 18:39

Easter egg hunt in morning and then having roast lamb lunch.
We’re not decorating the house (except with flowers) but we’ll be making Easter nests on the Saturday and may do some crafts.

The big supermarkets are closed on Easter Sunday but I think the smaller Tesco express/Sainsbury’s local etc are open.

ChronicallyCurious · 01/04/2021 18:43

Doing the general Easter Egg Exchange, Sunday walk, roast dinner and a film on the sofa whilst eating lots of chocolate. Usually go to (drag my DP) Church and then go to my Mum’s for Sunday dinner but not this year.

GintyMcGinty · 01/04/2021 18:46

Dinner with my parents on Saturday night
Walk with my sister and her kids on Sunday.
Chocolate.

Cismyfatarse · 01/04/2021 19:40

I am making a posh afternoon tea for the 4 of us, plus MiL (in our bubble) and we will eat that. Sandwiches, scones, meringues and cake. I quite like the baking thing once in a while so will enjoy making it all.

Blustered · 01/04/2021 19:45

We have bunny crumpets for breakfast then an Easter egg treasure hunt in the house.

Db and df are setting up a egg hunt using paper bunnies in the forest so dc will do that and have a walk. I'm cooking a lamb roast for dh and dc and will do up the table nicely for the first time at Easter. Then we'll gorge on chocolate for the rest of the day.

Also going to make some Easter cakes and decorate eggs but probably do that on Saturday.

worriedatthemoment · 01/04/2021 19:48

Dinner at parents , by looks of it in the cold garden with patio heater and firepit

ichundich · 01/04/2021 19:53

Nice food, phone calls with the family, egg hunt, church service via Zoom, walk, board game.

FearlessSwiftie · 02/04/2021 10:01

Visiting my nephews, playing Easter questions&answers with them (I'm making an Easter video for them every year) and having a chat with my sis. Nothing big, I guess. Might treat myself to a chocolate egg as well though

Grumpylate20s · 02/04/2021 12:18

We're making Easter bakes for our neighbours and having a socially distanced get together (only 6 of us plus a few kids running about) we've put Easter decorations in the windows for kids doing the Easter Egg hunt too

Mygardenisnotperfect · 02/04/2021 12:21

They’re in bloody Scotland so can’t see them 😭

Grumpylate20s · 02/04/2021 12:24

I really feel for people who have family elsewhere

Harryo · 02/04/2021 12:28

@emmathedilemma

nothing because my family are over 200 miles away but thanks for the reminder that I still can't visit them
🙄

We don’t do anything besides a chocolate egg hunt for the dc normally. That’s not changing this year!
We go all out for Christmas usually despite not being religious, we see it as a big family and food occasion.
Easter however passes us by totally.
I’m not that fussed about seeing my family to be honest Grin I love them all, many of them live locally and we have managed to keep in touch with doorstep chats etc so Easter Sunday will just be us, an egg hunt and probably a bbq as it’s meant to be okayish here.

satsunbathing · 02/04/2021 14:06

Church in person which is great. No singing allowed though because of covid.

KingdomScrolls · 02/04/2021 14:10

Going to my brother's for an Easter egg hunt and lunch in the garden, haven't seen DNs since August and neither has DS so the children will be very excited. Two households outside, so within regulations

purplejungle · 02/04/2021 14:14

Going to in laws for an egg hunt in the garden.

BakewellGin1 · 02/04/2021 14:25

We have booked an Easter Trail at Raby Castle so will do Easter Eggs then set off to go there for opening to do the trail in the gardens, walk round the deer park, youngest wants to hunt for the cows and ducks that roam, get coffees and ice cream then home to visit GP for a chocolate egg hunt then a Sunday lunch for tea... Then snuggle up in pj's for a film to warm up looking at the weather forecast.
