Do you have any plans or is it going to be a quiet easter this year?

@emmathedilemma

Are you really struggling or just the wrong side of narky today ?

If you are struggling maybe you could start a thread and see if anyone can help you feel better or jolly you along ?

therocinante · 01/04/2021 17:14

I genuinely didn't realise people (other than Christians) did stuff for Easter.

The beauty of Mumsnet - you learn a lot!

Like Christmas, Easter has roots in ancient pagan festivals.

@emmathedilemma

nothing because my family are over 200 miles away but thanks for the reminder that I still can't visit them
God, precious much 🙄

We’ll be having a lazy morning, then I’m cooking Sunday lunch followed by eating DD’s Easter eggs with a nice Sauvignon blanc Wine

MarshaBradyo · 01/04/2021 17:25

Most of my family will be together o/s

But I’ll be doing what I did at Christmas - making it nice for dc and getting loads of good food.

Horridcreature · 01/04/2021 17:27

Church and then nothing much. Maybe (yet another) walk.

Nicolastuffedone · 01/04/2021 17:29

Church, then home for a light lunch because we are having roast lamb with all the trimmings for dinner, it’ll be just the two of us again this year due to restrictions as my sister has bubbled with her son, so I’ll set the table with some candles and a couple of Easter table decorations and enjoy our time together. Happy Easter! 🐣

I’m always narky but coming to the end of my tether of living alone within my own four walls now it’s been an entire year!

longtompot · 01/04/2021 17:39

My ds and his gf are coming over to eat a Polish Easter breakfast (lunch) in a chilly garden, so we will light the fire pit to try and keep warm. Hopefully will be doing a zoom call with my relatives.

Frownette · 01/04/2021 17:42

Aw not too much longer now @emmathedilemma.

Are there any friends nearby?

HadEnoughOfBears · 01/04/2021 17:43

@Vickles20

Sorry, that was meant for you HadEnoughOff Bears. Reply didn’t work
Thank you! I'm very excited 😂
Grumpylate20s · 01/04/2021 17:44

Well I'm not going to the pub but I will be having a roast leg of Lamb 🐑 yum yum

purplecorkheart · 01/04/2021 17:48

In Ireland so restricted to 5km travel limited + other restriction and the weather is meant to be dire so it will be a nice family dinner and a movie.

gollymissdolly · 01/04/2021 17:48

Nothing. We're in Scotland and not allowed to travel outside our local authority area unless it's for essential reasons.Family stay over 50 miles away in another area.

Cowbells · 01/04/2021 17:49

Just the immediate family here. Plan a Sunday roast, radio playing Easter hymns, country walk and lots of chocolate as we've all been off chocolate for Lent and are eyeing the eggs! I was remembering the days when we'd have the entire family around - DSis, DBro, their souses and kids, our parents, great aunts and uncles, all wedged around the table, with two big legs of lamb, a chicken and a veggie pie. I find it hard to believe those days existed, but I'm glad we had them when we could.

Squidthing · 01/04/2021 17:50

We're having friends over for bbq in garden. We would normally be visiting family but one side all live too far away and the other side are visiting each other (so 2 household rule used up). Looking forward to spending with friends, hopefully weather will be dry and warm.

triceratopsmama · 01/04/2021 17:50

@HarkAVagrant it's my ds's birthday on Sunday too. Happy birthday for Sunday, To your boy.
We're doing almost the same. Presents, pancakes for breakfast, Easter egg hunt, donut cake, pinata, both sets of grandparents calling (at different times) to see him and take away Eddie rockets for dinner.

Nancylovesthecock · 01/04/2021 17:51

Having a lovely lamb dinner

Frownette · 01/04/2021 17:53

@Cowbells radio and tele here as well, pp mentioned some churches were open but mine isn't.

Supermarkets shut Friday and Monday? Or Sunday?

emmathedilemma · 01/04/2021 17:55

@Frownette yes but I’m just bored and we’re not allowed out of our local authority area for another 3 weeks. I’m usually away places most weekends!

colouringindoors · 01/04/2021 17:56

I have my kids from 3, so then, Easter Egg hunt even tho theyre 12 and 16 🤣. Then I might inflict some egg related games on them... then takeaway Chinese, mainly duck pancakes which we all love 😁

PickAChew · 01/04/2021 17:57

Nothing. My family are too far away for a day trip.

Kittens30 · 01/04/2021 17:58

Does anyone decorate for Easter? Or do crafts etc?

colouringindoors · 01/04/2021 17:58

FinallyFluid ooooh like the Champagne idea, might have to borrow that!
