Do you have any plans or is it going to be a quiet easter this year?

"nothing because my family are over 200 miles away but thanks for the reminder that I still can't visit them"

Do you forget until someone mentions anything vaguely covid or family related? Confused

I am cooking an Easter lunch. Everybody has begged me not to cook lamb. So tomorrow we will sit down and figure out what we will have. I am hoping the day is warm. I have bought some yellow and green tablecloths/napkins and placemats. I will set up our table outside and we will eat lovely food. There will deffo be asparagus. I was thinking of making a simnel cake, but no-one eats marzipan. The DCs will have an easter egg hunt in the garden. The DCs and DH are CofE and I am Jewish so we sort of just do anything that takes our fancy but is still fun. We did the second night of Passover last week also. :)

mamaduckbone · 01/04/2021 15:12

We've bought nice food and will have a family day with eggs for the dcs etc. My mum is local enough to see but very elderly and can't do long outside unless it's really warm so we'll perhaps go over for an hour or so in the afternoon for tea and cake.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/04/2021 15:12

Eating, basically 😂

ApplesPearsAndCrumble · 01/04/2021 15:13

(Oh and my family are in Israel so we havent seen them since October 2018. But I am not moaning because someone started a thread.... mind you, my family don't do easter. But we have missed out on Passover and Hannukkah and my only newphew's bar mitzvah).

YourRoyalHighness · 01/04/2021 15:14

Will see some family on Saturday as there is a family birthday. But apart from that, quiet!

actually I had a snarky response (a couple of posts ago).

sorry. Blush

emma are you okay? Clearly not. can you see your family via zoom or something? Are you on your own? is there anyone you can be with (who you want to be with curcially) if you are struggling?

Can you choose some great things to do and really nourish yourself?

Thanks
Dentistlakes · 01/04/2021 15:21

A meal with in-laws as they are in our bubble. Probably will go for an early swim in the sea to avoid the crowds.

Babdoc · 01/04/2021 15:28

Schbchl, no you can’t in Scotland, unless your family live in your own local authority area. I can’t see my daughter at Easter as she lives 50 miles south, in Edinburgh.
It’s nonsensical, as my “local area” covers 2500 square miles. But it ends 25 miles short of my DD’s house. Poor souls in Clackmannanshire only get 52 sq miles to roam in.

Confusedandshaken · 01/04/2021 15:33

Not going to mass. There's no choir, no sign of peace, we have to sit two metres apart from anyone else and I can't hug my friends in the car park afterwards so it's too sad to be worth the bother. .

In the afternoon we have some family around for an outside lunch. It will probably be freezing but I'm looking forward to seeing them.

MotherBuckets · 01/04/2021 15:34

We had loads of lovely plans (it's my birthday this weekend too) but they are all cancelled as my son tested positive on a lateral flow test at the beginning of the week. Bugger. No symptoms as yet for any of us so fingers crossed...

Hotcuppatea · 01/04/2021 15:36

My sisters are coming over for lunch. We've got a few bottles of champagne chilling, Easter egg hunt, that kind of thing. I'm really looking forward to it.

sherrystrull · 01/04/2021 15:39

Easter egg hunt in the morning then putting our miniature bouncy castle up for the DC and having pizza for dinner.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 01/04/2021 15:41

Nothing, dh working all day and night, ds on nights. I’ll walk the dog, might do some baking, watch something shite.

NotQuiteUsual · 01/04/2021 15:41

The kids will spend most of the morning looking for and rehiding their eggs. I got a big half price chunk of beef, so a massive roast dinner in the afternoon, can't wait for that. The afternoon will be playing games, the kids doing facetime playdates on Roblox and general silliness. Then when they're in bed me and Dh will get shitfaced and play Halo till it's not Easter anymore. I cannot wait for Sunday. Easter is my favroutie thing after Christmas, it's just always such a happy day for us.

Lindy2 · 01/04/2021 15:42

I'll do a roast lunch for just our household of 4 on Easter Sunday.

During the school holidays I am intending to take the kids to see my mum/their granny. We'll go for a walk and have a picnic lunch in her garden. She hasn't seen the kids since August so I'm looking forward to doing it whilst distancing and keeping to the rules.

coldwarenigma · 01/04/2021 15:45

Working, normal working day for me.

fairydustandpixies · 01/04/2021 15:47

I shall be all alone as I was at Christmas. Visiting my family means an overnight stay because of the distance which, of course, is not allowed yet.

PuzzleMonkeyMum · 01/04/2021 15:48

I’m on nights Friday, Saturday and Sunday (I’m a student nurse) so won’t see DS is going to his dads tomorrow morning and come back Tuesday so I’ll be sleeping and feeling guilty!

afaloren · 01/04/2021 15:50

Going to PIL’s garden for lunch, weather permitting. Will be our first time seeing them in person since last year. My own mum is our bubble so she’s coming tomorrow for a fish supper.

I stopped going to Mass before Christmas for those reasons. I sort of wanted to go at Easter, but at my church you have to book and by the time I got round to checking the booking info, it was past the deadline. You could only book for one Mass though and it would have been tough to decide which - I usually go to all 3 Triduum services plus and Easter Sunday Mass.

Not sure what I am doing on Sunday yet. My family are too far away to see, I have a friend and her family visiting for a park picnic at some point over the long weekend so that might be Sunday. If not I'll probably be with my DP who is my support bubble.

Scbchl · 01/04/2021 16:00

@Babdoc but I was responding to the we cant meet people in gardens in Scotland part of the comment. Which we can. Just not outwith local areas. We can still meet family or friends who live near us in the garden.

Hopefully you can see your daughter really soon.

Well, isn’t it lucky you saw this thread before you set out to visit them!
