For me, it's made me change some routines

I wash my tea towels way more often. Not up to every day, but we do wash them every 3 days or so. (We have dishwasher,so they aren't used that much really)

I also change my kitchen cleaning cloth after every ,wipe down session. Where as before MN, I might have used one for the whole day.

I have learned loads about SEN and hidden disabilities.

I always get my product reviews from here now.

Cloth sanitary towels!

Can spot a troll a mile off now!

Taught me how to play Mornington Crescent Grin

I know this might sound odd, but one of the things I really like about Mumsnet is you get to talk about every aspect of women's lives, from tea towels and odd socks right up to recognising abuse.

PerkingFaintly · 31/03/2021 22:27

As a corollary to the above, MN has changed my mind.

I used to think men objected to equal employment opportunities for women primarily because they were afraid of the competition – with a side order of deep-seated psychological fear of change.

Now I think they object to equal employment opportunities for women primarily because of a deep-seated psychological fear of losing free domestic services.

@PerkingFaintly agree absolutely with all you've said.

I accepted that status quo for decades! Mainly because I was a better parent and didn't 100% feel they were safe with him.

A maintenance cycle on the washing machine?? This could revolutionise my life, or at least my washing machine's life [goes to look]

Isababybel · 09/04/2021 10:52

That fabric conditioner is awful smelly stuff that makes people's eyes water/ feel sick/come out in a rash.

Oblomov21 · 09/04/2021 11:03

How neurotic and anxiety ridden most other people are.
And. Using a tea towel for only a day /washing towels too often.

Hallyup5 · 09/04/2021 11:22

That I clearly don't have enough experience with men because apparently they're all creepy or abusive or just general lazy arses who should be walked out on at the drop of a hat.

I live alone and have a disability, I'm happy but isolated
Mumsnet opens up my life, gives me company 24/7
I've learnt lots, and laughed lots too
So grateful I found it 10 years ago

I found out you can get your over professionally cleaned.

That others share my insanity, I run a cafe on here and various people have indulged by crazy ideas and place orders for virtual bacon baps.

That if you have any kind of mystery or need to find an out of stock toy to replace the one your child has lost MN is the best place to find it.

In fact if you can't find it via MN it can't be found.

Wriggleout · 09/04/2021 14:25

It's taken the edge off some of my opinions, which I'm actually really grateful for. I like a bit of challenge, I don't like upsetting people irl which I think I sometimes do with a not very well thought out opinion, so it's been a great moderator for me.

I put together a flat pack bookcase with the help of MN about 5 years ago. DH had offered to do it but I declared myself a strong, independent woman who could do it myself. Turns out I’m a strong, independent woman who can do it but only with the help of MN.

MN helped me stay sort of sane when my daughter was sent to prison. All 2 threads!
I have learnt so much , smirked at some posters and occasionally have laughed.
I now know I'm a slattern who uses my bath towel more than once, wash tea towels with my undies.
That a bag of copper coins in water , in a clear plastic bag hung by door/window stops flies!
And finally realised that some fellow dog owners are barking in their own right.
