You have £20, just for you, what are you buying?

I have £20 burning a hole in my pocket. I don't need anything crafty but could be persuaded to try something new.

I fancy the books that the A Discovery of Witches series maybe (I think that's what it's called -only seen one & it looked to be up my street).

I've been eyeing up several crochet pattern books but not sure I'll use them.

What small ish treat would you buy yourself? Maybe something will inspire me!

You mention crochet, and I'd be buying wool rather than patterns, as I get patterns from Ravelry for free.

Crochet is a good way for me to keep my hand out the biscuit tin.

Otherwise, I'd spend £20 on getting nice hand soaps. I prefer bar soap and there are some lovely ones around.

Hmmm. Nice M&S food for dinner maybe. A new lippie, or a nail varnish. I also have my eye on a fitness app, just can’t decide what one..

lucysmam · 30/03/2021 09:55

I've had two yarn orders recently Turquoise, and have three projects on the go so was going to wait a while before ordering any more.

I do like nice soaps though! Any in particular you'd recommend?

I would be buying a 4mm and whatever other size I used often Tulip Etimo Red crotchet hook. In fact I might have done this yesterday 😂

Starface · 30/03/2021 09:57

A box of Fortnum and Mason teabags. Not better enough to buy in general. But as a treat, when there is not much other fun to be had. I can be persuaded.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/03/2021 09:58

Yarn and more yarn. The softer and strokier the better. I’m gorgeous colours.

KeyboardWorriers · 30/03/2021 09:59

This was me yesterday! I had a £20 voucher from work. Usually I would spend on books. I thought about some bath oil. But then I spotted a jumper in the sale that I really liked. I always go hunting around in the sales to see if I can make the money go further

LostInTime · 30/03/2021 10:00

Yeah, a circular needle and some yarn!

Or books.
I buy more than I can read... Sad

Imtoooldforallthis · 30/03/2021 10:00

Two big bags of compost.

Sorry for typos.

SpareBib · 30/03/2021 10:01

3 posh ready meals so I can have 3 nights without cooking. I didn't even need to think about it!

Ilovemycat13 · 30/03/2021 10:03

I bought two dresses yesterday then spotted some nice white shoes in Tesco so id buy them. Then maybe a nice book 😃

OnceUponAThread · 30/03/2021 10:04

I wouldn't buy the Discovery of Witches books as I found them awful. So so badly written.

I would buy books though. Trying to think of a good recommendation for you that's similar in theme / genre but actually a decent set of books.

This. £20 + delivery is more than I would usually spend on a top for me and I need other things more than I need a long-sleeved top, but I want it.

Dowser · 30/03/2021 10:11

Some nice dark chocolate
Oops..I already did.
5 boxes of Whitaker’s vegan lemon and lime and salted caramel creams wanged their way to me yesterday

Still have a tenner left!

Love tkmaxx for their soaps and tullivers health shop in york gets the most gorgeous rose glycerin type soap. Smells fabulous and not expensive
FiveGoMadInDorset · 30/03/2021 10:15

A book and a bottle of wine

QueenPaw · 30/03/2021 10:17

A candle from the botanical candle company, probably their late summer scent

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 30/03/2021 10:19

Books or smoked salmon from marks and spencer.

Ylfa · 30/03/2021 10:23

Should cover purchase of some funky lomography 35mm film and just about get it developed for scanning 💡

EmmaJR1 · 30/03/2021 10:24

A discovery of witches is an amazing trilogy. I would totally love to be discovering them for the first time!

Those and a couple of quid for a lovely drink and go find a quiet garden somewhere and enjoy!

dontsaveusername · 30/03/2021 10:25

Lovely art materials

RunningKatie · 30/03/2021 10:32

Flowers.
A soap dish to put my nice soap into.
A coffee and cake that someone else has made that I can enjoy whilst looking at my flowers. Smile

Brogues · 30/03/2021 10:35

DofW is a great series of books - better than the tv version.

I’d buy some really wanky F&M Easter tea that keeps cropping up on my Facebook page but it might be more than £20 with P&P.
