Would you eat this?

I made homemade chilli last Friday. Had a portion left so put it in the fridge intending to eat it but forgot. Do you think if it was heated really well it could be eaten tonight? I say no husband says yes??

Not worth risking it for me

Absolutelyscunnered · 26/03/2021 16:57

I wouldn’t risk it unless you would like to spend the weekend in the bathroom.

Tartyflette · 26/03/2021 16:58

Smell it then taste it and see.
I thunk supermarket ready meals can have a similar refrigerated life.

Seriouslymole · 26/03/2021 16:59

No, it's a week old meat. I really wouldn't. It's probably fizzing by now!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 26/03/2021 16:59

Let him eat it then.

I think if it's really hot all the way through,it'll probably be ok if he has a robust constitution, but I wouldn't eat it.

Last Friday is too long, and I'm fairly relaxed about that sort of thing. Four days, five at the absolute max, seven - too long.

ThePricklySheep · 26/03/2021 17:00

A week? No. That’s too long.

FindingMeno · 26/03/2021 17:01

No way.
Your dh can make his own choice - I often think the optimists have cast iron stomachs anyhow, and those of us who are more pessimistic have had experience of hugging loo bowls half the night.

WorraLiberty · 26/03/2021 17:01

I'm really relaxed about that sort of thing but a whole week?

No way.

Whatalottachocca · 26/03/2021 17:02

I’m in the “no” camp.

Ulelia · 26/03/2021 17:02

Meat or veg? Meat, then I'd smell it, nuke it and try. Veg chilli will be fine.

PickAChew · 26/03/2021 17:03

Ugh, no. 3 days, tops.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/03/2021 17:04

I’m an absolute minger and I wouldn’t eat that

ForeverBubblegum · 26/03/2021 17:05

A week is definitely to long for mince, but if it's veg/beans then it might be ok if it passes the smell test.

idontlikealdi · 26/03/2021 17:05

No. 3 days max

IsThisNameTaken · 26/03/2021 17:06

I'm really lax about these things - and I would bin it!

joystir59 · 26/03/2021 17:06

Yuck.

joystir59 · 26/03/2021 17:07

My dog wouldn't eat that.

joystir59 · 26/03/2021 17:08

Veg chilli would be revolting after a week

LadyCatStark · 26/03/2021 17:08

Hell no, that’s a whole week ago!

LadyCluck · 26/03/2021 17:08

No. Don’t risk it.

DragonPoop · 26/03/2021 17:09

No way- after 2 days of sitting in the fridge I wouldn’t risk it let alone a week!

crazylikechocolate · 26/03/2021 17:11

A whole week seems a bit too long but to be fair many similar supermarket ready meals have a week plus date on them

cryh · 26/03/2021 17:15

Day three is the latest in our house.
